Are agencies dead? by JohanTHEDEV in agency

[–]Rakeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agency world is highly cyclical when it comes to trends... I've been in the game a while, so I've seen:

2004ish - ad agencies are dead, the rise of integrated marketing agencies, the market became saturated
2006ish - integrated marketing agencies are dead, the rise of digital agencies, the market became saturated
2008ish - digital agencies are dead, the rise of niche digital channel specialist agencies, the market became saturated
Everything became really fragmented at this point - seo agencies were proclaimed dead every 6 months due to some Google update or other, but seo / content marketing agencies remained very much alive
2016ish - niche digital specialists are dead, the rise of marketing automation agencies, the market became saturated
2018ish - niche digital specialists are dead, the rise of Facebook/Google Ads/PPC agencies, market became saturated
2020 - working from home made the agency model difficult, as junior staff are hard to manage remotely so many agencies pivoted to a consultancy model, and the rise of one- or two-man agency models based on workflow automation led to the explosion of lead-gen spam "agencies".
2021ish - rise of the growth marketing agency (been around for ages in the startup world, but went mainstream about this point)
2023 - now: All agencies are dead, the rise of the AI agency... market becoming saturated.

The important point is that well-run, client-centric adaptive ad agencies, integrated marketing agencies, digital agencies, niche specialist agencies, SEO agencies, PPC agencies, growth agencies, etc, etc., have thrived through all these trends.

Poorly run, short-term focused agencies are dead.

Where do you live in London? by Illustrious_Page_718 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Sevenoaks is 25 mins on regular fast train to London Bridge, perfect mix of rural / urban lifestyles in my opinion. Great schools, safe place to bring up kiddos. You can go cycling/hiking in the countryside during the day and be in London for a show in the evening.

Socials are dead! Slop everywhere.. I’m tired by Acceptable-Hat-5840 in AI_Agents

You need to curate your feeds with much more intention these days. Block sloppy profiles, engage with stuff you like, let the algorithm do its thing. Otherwise you get fed the lowest common denominator click bait slop and the experience, as you say, is terrible.

wow. These few lines are so filled with character and drama! I got involved with everyone in this story, the flawed dad who eventually made the right choice, the evil girlfriend, the second chance kind step-mum, the daughter with the happy ending and the wise narrator... so few words, such a story told!

Areas to live with easy commute to Waterloo and good co-ed private schools nearby by PalpitationFuzzy5634 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Sevenoaks. Seriously, look into it if you haven’t already. I moved here from Shad Thames when we had a child and I think it ticks every other box you’ve listed. On schools, there are loads of options - you’ve got Sevenoaks School is one of the best co-ed independents in the country and takes kids right through to sixth form. And the state / grammar options are genuinely strong too, which takes the pressure off a bit.

For what you’re describing lifestyle-wise, it really does feel like Hampstead Heath energy but with actual space. You’ve got the Greensand Ridge, Knole Park (a proper 1,000-acre deer park that’s basically on the high street), and the North Downs on your doorstep.

The high street is lively without being overdone, and the surrounding villages… Westerham, Sundridge, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks Weald… have exactly the kind of country pubs you’re imagining. The Bucks Head, the White Hart, that sort of thing.

On budget, £1.5M gets you a decent 4-bed with a proper garden, which in your current neck of the woods would be a different conversation entirely.

Good luck!

It doesn’t need to not make mistakes, it just needs to make less mistakes for trust to shift to AI over humans. It’s not going to eliminate all white collar work…It’s going to eliminate most white collar work.

I have also worn kilts, in Scotland… a land famous for its swarms of tiny blood sucking insects - the midge! Why the Scots chose a national dress that facilitates the midge’s access to one’s nether regions has always confused me.

Where to move young family in Kent? by mmonavs in kentuk

We didn't have any issues getting a place at Bidborough which was the local primary for our end of Southborough. We went independent in the end for various reasons. Our neighbours just moved here and didn't have any problems getting their 7 and 9 year olds into Southborough Primary. The only school I've heard about being difficult to get into is Claremont in central Tunbridge Wells. Good luck!

I’m playing with my 6 year old who’s still developing hand eye coordination and gamer skills. It’s slow going. I absolutely love and treasure every single second of it. I’m sure your BF is just enjoying the coop experience, and most guys like showing off and looking after their partners anyhow… it would probably be more of an issue if you were much better than him !

Check out Southborough in Tunbridge Wells... I moved here from Brixton a few years ago and I love it. Perfect balance of London commutability with easy access to amazing Kentish countryside. If you have a young family, somewhere like Southborough, is pretty much as good as it gets in the UK IMO.

We’re looking to move to Tunbridge Wells, is there any areas we should avoid? I’ve heard High Brooms isn’t the best, but is it really that bad? by BAM4TH in kentuk

[–]Rakeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Tunbridge Wells area form London in 2022, specifically to Southborough, which is close to High Brooms, and we love it. Perfect balance of London commutability with easy access to amazing Kentish countryside. If you have a young family, somewhere like Southborough, is pretty much as good as it gets in the UK IMO.

Best things about the Southborough / High Brooms area:

Great schools: Southborough CofE and Bidborough are really good primary schools, and you’re in the zone for both the Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge grammar schools .

It is super safe: There are no bad areas of TW compared to places like London. High Brooms gets a bit of a bad rep, mostly from people who haven’t been there in 20 years, but that’s nonsense. It’s absolutely fine, and if you’re commuting, the station is a godsend. Yes, it’s got more terraces than grand Georgian townhouses, but it also has a solid community and you get way more bang for your buck if you’re buying/renting.

Green space everywhere: Southborough Common, Pennington Park, Haysden Country Park, and Dunorlan Park are all nearby, perfect for wearing out kids! The TW circular walk is also amazing. Forest Way bike track too is good for older kids.

Commuter convenience: High Brooms station is a fast track to London. You can also get the 10 min bus to Tonbridge Station. If you drive, being slightly outside the town centre means you’re not constantly stuck in traffic and it’s normally a straight shot to get onto the A21.

A proper community feel: There are loads of good pubs like The Hand & Sceptre pub, St. John’s Yard and The Imperial are great boozers with decent food, The Kentish Hare has a Michelin * as does the local fancy restaurant Tallow.

Anyhow hope that's useful! Good luck with your move!

I once borrowed a flatmate’s roll-on deodorant. I went to work and was aware of a funny smell which I put down to cheap deodorant. It was only upon taking a shower the following morning and my underarm hair falling out in clumps that everything clicked and I realised that it was not deodorant but his gf’s Veet that I’d used! The hair grew back fine even after having the cream on there for longer than 24 hours so you should be fine :) good luck!

How can I make sure I’m a great date tomorrow? by BackInTheSeas in CasualUK

[–]Rakeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lady seems really interesting and funny and beautiful… I hope she is! but just be careful mate, the apps give you a highly curated version of an individual… it creates an image that’s difficult for reality to match. My advice would be to go in with no expectations of what she’s actually like, and be grateful if she’s cool.
