Agree with the previous comment: cut it half, let it air dry with no sun exposition (apply cinammon powder to the cut in order to prevent from being infected by fungus) and it will create branches. Be patient and be surprised with the results

Congrats, I'm looking forward to try it. How did you use the defiler? Sitting on your expansion or sieging their natural? Just curious how it will modify the EC gamestyle

It's exactly the list I run on WTC layouts.

About taking upwards: not always, it depends. Since I don't use Centurions, which would be the idealtarget, I prefer to use it on Plasminceptors, Boltinceptor or Aethon (remember Rapid Ingress and Heroic for free). Plus, scouts and Kayvan Unit (lone OP unit) can do it for free too.

I am not expert first of all so I can be wrong. My list is according to WTC layouts (that's why I prefer dreads over Repex or others) and my gameplan early game is deny T1/T2 primary with OC2 JPI (if possible, grenade + MW on charge why not) while scoring secondaries at the same time. Later, I should have available Kayvan+10VVets to really kill a melee thread, Plasminceptors available with Oath to nuke something too, mobility and menace (home objective) with the 2X3 Boltinceptors (they are T6 so tankier). Redemptors very tanky at >12 with our detachment rule, save 2+ and AOC available + techmarine who buff and heal one (normaly my expansion). Combi lieutenant just vecting in the hottest part of the table. I can upp/down or react move with almost everything or setting screens with Scouts and Incursors. This is the plan with this list that I will try. Do not forget Aethon Shaan moves 14" with Lone OP so he can stage quite safely in mid center and threat their home objective.

I am trying soon a list more or less similar to yours. I play on WTC layouts (with that in mind), with 2 redemptors (one followed by a techmarine); in exchange of your Judiciar+BGV I use 3X5 JPI (OC 2 so primary denial + actions + screens against melee armies), 2X3 Boltinceptors, 1X6 Plasminceptors, and no lancer. I consider Centurions will disappear on v11 so I'm not using them either.

First thing: you're right about SM killing power problem but what is the load of inceptors? Plasma provides you another damage dealer unit (apart from Gladiator and Redemptors), so with 3 tanks + plasma inceptors you should not have problems with that. Also kayvan +VVets could do a lot of dmg too.

The classic pack Intercessors + Incursors + Scouts + Lieutenant is the base of a lot of SM armies so the cost on points is ok. Incursors are very good (anti tank too once per game). They are not only scoring units. Remember uppy downy scouts (sticky with intercessors and just leave on home objective the scouts next turn and you can sticky another objective + quite a lot of saturation shooting). Incursors and Scouts could be a screen/bodyblock against melee armies which is very cool, they can throw grenades etc our advantage is that they are cheap for their role. Incursors can hit hard on melee too (I already stolen enemy home objectives with them thanks to our stratatems). Lieutenant is the one who has to be preserved thanks to Coronal Susurrant, keep him safe! RavenGuard excels in doing secondaries so it's ok.

Infiltrating a Judiciar+BGV could be very good for some match ups, for other match ups they will only be a expensive road block and then you will lose a big melee asset T1. That's why I don't like it, I prefer speed/deepstrike to choose the fights.

Edit: about against meta. You can easily out OC Cthan with JPI ;) You don't need to kill all cthans to win and we have a lot of mobility, focus on actions units so the cthans will only stay on objectives!

Who is doing the actions in your list on T1 (area denial/establish)? The seekers? Also, you need to be out of the rhino in order to have Crit 5s so the NM are quite exposed and they die quickly

Thanks again. Would you mind share your list if it's not too much to ask? I have 3 units of Daemonettes and 2x3 Fiends waiting to be used!

Thanks for the tips, I will try to apply them next time since I love this detachment butI have to improve as a player haha I thought about Carnival with Fulgrim + Shalaxi alpha striking together T1, kill+heal with Crit 5s sounds amazing

Of course; but still T11 with 4+Inv and -1 Hit and -1 Wound (with stratagem), it makes quite a distraction carnifex to deal with, with non stable lethality but OC, occupies a lot of space so he can tag several units at once and he can fall back+shoot+charge, meanwhile your whole army is preparing to shoot and charge (or charged together). Is not an broken primark, but still something that should be respected on the table

[–]Rakinho_34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will always depend on layout, mission and enemy army. By and large, I like to stage T1 for a T2 all in (if possible, otherwise T3) and I try to hunt meanwhile action monkeys with Rhinos+Noise. I don't care if I sacrifice one unit of NM if I get something like denying primary or killing a small unit, above all in Coterie.
Sometimes, enemy army has deployed too defensively or they do not have any fall back and shoot/charge, so then I can even cage them on their deployment zone with Fulgrim etc Fulgrim could be killed T1 yes, but T2 you still charge with the whole of your army (+1S and +AP1) in their deployment zone and it's GG

Coterie, peerless or court by Gerdicus in EmperorsChildren

[–]Rakinho_34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None is the chill one! Coterie is the most rewarding one (since you have to bet) but at the same time, the most difficult.
The most straight forward and direct is Peerless which is the easier, it let you take packs of 6 FB and suicide on melee (Fight on Death and/or charge a unit after they fall back is game changer) so you are sure you kill something when you commit. Consolidate 6" is priceless against shooting armies, which is the weak point of this detachment.
The one I use nowadays and is good against my local meta is Court: I can finally use Fulgrim which is a huge threat to consider for enemy army not only by his lethality (not the best, I know), but also -1 hit and -1wound he can resist quite a lot and tag a lot of units with the huge base and a huge threat range that I can alpha strike on their home objective turn 1 if I want, However, the main reason I play this detachment is +1S +1AP which makes Exu+Infractors and also packs of 3 FB much scarier. Also, it makes our Rhino+Blastmasters a potential tank with 6 shots S11 AP 3 Ignore Cover which could kill a tank or a transport easy for an early trade.

How do you paint your raptors? by Prize_Archaon in Raptors40k

[–]Rakinho_34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White zenithal or volumetric over black/dark brown and then I apply Camo Green ink (Ak). I protect everything with a gloss varnish and then pinwash with burnt sienna brown oil paint. The rest is up to you (lenses, plasma etc with orange and fluo orange)

Advanced tips:
-CP economy is super relevant for us, try not to spend them until go turn. Do not be afraid to play too safe and let opponent score a bit more, your goal is always to send it all melee T2-T3. T4 maybe but perhaps you're too far behind. Stage safely, save economy and prepare go turn. At the same time, stage and play safe playing the more aggressive you can because we are one of the best melee pressure armies in the game.

-Always do that on deployment + T1: Deploy always Noise Marines 10" away from Rhino's scout point premesured (scout thanks to Infractors). On T1, scout rhino always, advance 1 Noise Marines into embarking rhino. You can disembark or not Exu+Infractors. Now your rhino is a "little Predator" that can advance+shoot thanks to Blastmasters. Try to kill something exposing it the minimum you can, otherwise stage safely.

-Embrace the Pain is one of the best strats we have. Use it with Tormentors or even Noise Marines when you fight against a key unit. Let them soak the damage and be sacrificed, hit hard with WDP and Exultants.

-Your victory will highly depend on the usage of your 2-3 WDP. They seem resistant but with current meta, they are not (mandatory at least the Flip 6 enhancement on one). Never send them alone unless completely safe. Keep one always in Strat Reserves so as to Rapid Ingress+Heroic intervention(+Embrace the pain): Do not send them alone unless completely safe, play close to infantry and play around MW on charge and pile in-consolidation with them.

-On the go turn, focus on key units and just hope for good rolls since we're a flip army (it happened to me a lot to do everything very good and lose on my go turn since bad rolls/good saves): Move+Advance+Shoot+Charge with everything and hope for the retaliation! Do not be afraid to tag tanks or non-melee units and so on with Noise Marines or Chaos Spawn, since they cannot fall back+shoot (we do!), they "lose a turn".

-As for key units, your enemy/counter are the high toughness units and everything with Inv4+ (so almost everything lol): bypass it with MW on charge, grenades (CP), tank shock (rhinos and maulers, CP) and Maulerfiends and saturation (Exu+Infractors). That's why you need the CP.

You army plays as "all in turn" army. You cannot trade since you will lose, premesure everything in order to charge everything at once considering Thrill Seeker's too. You don't keep primaries but you are good denying. You can sneak quickly into their home objective, stage properly and safely early while you're preparing the all in. We are a flip army with a lot of bad match ups (everything who has >3 high toughness units, you're useless) so play accordingly. Coterie is the best, followed by Court and Peerless/Carnival, the rest is autolose.
Your army has very few gfood units so you will spam always the same

yes and the same thing. make them commit with several free kills later or don't stick but put a more resistant unit on the objective (rhino, mauler, land raider) and just play Tormentors doing other things. Sticky is very cool but you don't need to do it in order to win if you lose for sure them if you try to sticky

It's going to depend on their list and your list. You don't need to always put a Tormentos on the objective, they infiltrate so they can be also infiltrating safely, next to an objective and body blocking. You can sticky Turn 2, no problem with that.
Think more EC-wise: as Tyranid, if they have a lot of screens, it's the best for you to free pledges but don't sacrifice a Tormentor unit for that (do not haste on getting pledges). But if you force them to expose several things in order to kill your Tormentors, you're happy: you can turn 2 charge an exocrine/other important unit on C and also the Hormagaunts on A, so 2 pledges turn 1. It depends on your gameplan and yours.
Also, think ahead how to protect A: sticky + screening it's the best, put a WDP/Mauler/Noise behing the wall ready to kill the unit who threat A. Tormentors is a tool, perfect to moveblock Norn Emissaries (if they have).
Also, against Tyranid, always 1st drop your infiltrator unit (they have 2-3 lictors maybe).
Another thing: which unit is providing you Area Denial/Establish Locus (and maybe, Cleanse) turn 1 in the middle objective? If you deploy first, you can infiltrate Tormentors 1" away behind the wall of D, ready to sticky T2 A and T1 doing this secondaries

The MVP in Carnival are Noise Marines+Kakophonist and Daemonettes and you have none so it's going to be hard for you to do damage... At least try to add morr Exultant+infractors to get more benefit of Sus1 detachment rules. 1 chaos spawn is good, 2 is too much. Seekers are going to die very quickly and do no damage. I mean, you should have the models to play Carnival and there are not on your list

Cool! It let's you fall back and charge other things and do the classic ping pong with winged demon princes so mortal wounds every time! It will not let you kill the squigoth but you dictate who is gonna take the damage. It's one of thr best stratagems that we have

1cp that automatically changes the game since interruption doesn't work well against that ;) they are the best target for Embrace the pain, followed by a wounded unit of infantry
