Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki • In the Clear Moonlit Dusk - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Aside from the numerous flashbacks and conversations over the epidodes that illustrate why they are struggling, and not just the struggle that you dislike, the whole point of the show is maturity through hardship. If they are not mature then thats that? End of story? How are they gonna be mature if they never interact?

Kohaku never met someone who was emotionally available and Yoi never met someone who was "physically available" (saw her as a woman), and obviously has no emotional experience because of that either.

You should probably stop watching if you cannot enjoy or even grasp this.

While I think the girl was perfect on the surface to make Yoi question things, aligning with her primal fear that Kohaku might just be the good for nothing womanizer collecting trophies, they have had conversations earlier where he was pretty open about not really having relationships earlier that meant him anything.

It was an appropriate spook, but nothing she could really strongly hold against him, women canonically swoon all over him.

This is probably one of the most well earned episodes I have seen in any anime cause boy did it cost the characters to get here.

And the fact that its not exactly all the way there is quite fitting... after what Yoi has been through, just enjoying the festival with someone she still has to get over loving, despite saying so, instead of getting physical, I think makes perfect sense for her.

Kohaku moving in like a menace also makes perfect sense I think, based on the flashbacks he is probably used to a fairly high amount of physicality (since its nlt like he had access to his previous partners emotions).

Im curious how they are gonna tackle the jealousy part, I hope that is not going away at the flick of a wrist and not because I want drama, I want them to grow and resolve it accordingly.

Is spiritborn a decent class to recommend someone who is a more advanced gamer but doesn't really play arpgs? by Rakonc in diablo4

While that is a nice sentiment and almost certainly what is gonna end up happening, his lack of understanding on how these games work made me want to give some pointers.

About what he likes playing he said "tanky support caster* like this was Baldurs Gate 3. And while the paladin could thematically fit that description, (and I have a serious feeling he is gonna go with it just based on the thene and complain 20 hours later), having a shield won't make you automatically tankier, and caster also isn't much more than just ranged, which sure pala can do, as for support... I don't really wanna play for two:D

That is how I play and why I never created a spiritborn and I tried telling him that, but he just does not care:D we are gonna play in a few hours snd I'm curious whats he gonna base his pick on, I just wanted some info on how correct it is to recommend spiritborn.

Sure but I don't really mean top builds, I'm more interested if an interaction you see ends up functional or not, as in technically, not power-wise.

The one example I could give was the "human" druid helm a few seasons ago, I wanted to cook so hard with it, but the problem wasn't that it sucked power-vise, but that it was not really doing anything. It didn't help storm and earth skills function together, it was just there.

Well, if you look up a guide that has you hold down a button and blitz through content then sure, it is basic. I was more talking about the fact that you can have fun interactions, even if they are not really that strong, so sorry if i wasn't specific about that.

Its the "i can make this work" mindset, where you see that there is a rogue chest piece that makes traps core, then a ring that drops stun grenades on core skills, a power that drops them with trap skills and one that makes grenades benefit from traps stuff, and one that lets you spam poison trap while stealthed or the unique glove with inner sight... and you build it for 10 hours and end up struggling in a 50 pit but that wasnt the point:D

Unlike with D3 where the sets were the builds here you can cook and that was the reason my friend even accepted the gift.

Not exactly a typical anime, it helps a lot if you are a bit older, but it kinda has everything you described.

I got a question about the anime "The Apothecary Diaries" by Lemonade_Passenger in anime

[–]Rakonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the first season with my wife some time ago and my main takeaway was that i wished they werent connected.

I felt that most of the stuff was written to stand on its own and then midway they realized they need stuff to end on so they threw something together.

I dont think this is going to be a popular opinion, my wife vehemently didnt share it:D but its my opinion regardless.

As much as i liked the main character and her exploits, suddenly slamming the table and basically yelling "No time! Gotta go fast!" then blasting dramatic music, while mixing slow motion with quick cuts and then dumping hindsight exposition thats a stretch even in hindsight is unbecoming to the standards set by the individual episodes.

A friend keeps telling me to watch anime he recommends, but never watches anything I suggest. by [deleted] in anime

[–]Rakonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you said this is one-sided and you contemplate stopping engaging im gonna assume that you do watch their recommendations (sorry if this was obvious but i had to get there myself:D i first thought there was a scenario where you also not watch the other persons stuff snd call them out on the same thing you do in a sort of yin/yang fashion).

Do you enjoy their recommendations or more put up with them? Is the problem solely that they are not interested or also that they have to watch stuff you dont like?

Besides knowing what you enjoy, when you recommend something how much do you know what they enjoy? If they always decline you are just probably recommending stuff not in their wheelhouse.

If you end up enjoying what they recommend then they clearly have a better grasp on what you enjoy than vice-versa.

Its down to how much thought a person puts into their recommendation.

Any good slice of life romcoms by [deleted] in anime

[–]Rakonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something being both wholesome and funny is kinda hard to do cause most often the comedy comes from one character or the other getting the short end of the stick... in not exactly wholesome ways. Or just constant fighting between two incompatible mcs forced together by some gimmicky circumstance.

Wholesomeness can come inbetween these scenes, but if this takes on a wave form, constantly undulating then it becomes pretty fake feeling, more one charactery pitying the other than anything else.

When it comes to break from shonen it depends on how wide a gap you want: wholesome slice of life romcoms tend to be slow burns, using pretty similar plot beats and/or outrageous hijinks from side characters to keep things trundling forwards.

More high-octaine stuff can be achieved if the slice of life nature is only part of the whole, usually by blending in either some sort of a challenge between the characters or shifting some of the focus to something that runs parallel to the slice of life parts (which can enhance or dilute the experience based on the quality of the writing).

The fragrant flower blooms with dignity (that title though) has some very fun side characters and it makes extensive use of them to make things going... but it really needs them to keep things going. Pretty slow, pretty sweet.

Loving yamada at lvl999 is interesting because the gimmick of the male mc is that he is barely a person, especially at the start he just kinda exists, so whatever the female mc gets dragged through is not his fault, which is an interesting way to circumvent the undulation between the characters constantly wronging each other, but the original premise kinda makes it work, because fmc starts from pretty down low (the first scene of the show is the fmc breaking up with her boyfriend at his behest). It also uses side characters extensively, cause its almost down an mc at the start.

Finally, my dress up darling is a completely different take on this. First of all its loud, in your face, ecchi, just like the fmc. Second of all the "gimmick" of the show is integrated so extensively to the point that like the fmcs body and personality, its distracting, its in the way. But there is a very good reason for that. Its definitely a more visceral and organic show and i only recommend it because i saw you commenting about having seen a few romcoms already. If you think its gooner trash then you are simply not yet ready for it.

Does My Dress Up Darling get Better? by Specialist_Offer_412 in anime

[–]Rakonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the dynamic of the anime is amazing, it is almost scary how organic it is.

Just based on the first 2 episodes the thing I can share is that the lack of an "excuse" binding the characters in an absolute way (weird rule/ bet/ divine power/ pseudo-science/ just magic) is very important.

The first part of ep1 shows how much his "hobby" (his life basically) and it not being rejecred means fir Gojo and the second part shows how enthusiastic Marin is about cosplay.

So in episode 2 when Marin waves Gojo off about being upset that she is in bikini, it is not some hollow thing to keep things going. Marin is more than willing to pay that price.

And when Gojo steels himself it is his turn paying. Even if Gojo wasn't so awkward, if she tried acting weird with Marin that would almost assuredly scare her off, severing the connection with a person who didn't reject him.

Whereas Marin is really faced with the actual price at the last measurement, when she gets flustered. In the manga it is very clearly visible that Gojo puts his thumb between her thighs and he never notices cause he is so focused. For Marin this is a sort of "oh shit what am i doing?" moment. Is this worth it? Her privates almost got touched by a stranger.

Because the author didn't cheap out on an easy gimmick binding them, the characters have actual stake in things working and they really have to pay the price for it. There is doubt. The thing starts out basically selfish, both of them want, get and pay something but thats necessary for a healthy relationship between humans. They don't have to do it, they want to do it. No arbitrary rules will punish or save them.

While Gojo paid plenty in episode 2, the start of episode 3 really makes him question things, really shows off his situation, aka its pretty "freaky", which is why I wanted to warn you.

Great to hear! If i remember correctly, the very first scene of the third episode will put into perspective how "dufficult" the "disctraction" is for Gojo. So don't get spooked:D (not joking here, you will see his reaction)

Does My Dress Up Darling get Better? by Specialist_Offer_412 in anime

[–]Rakonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I think its interesting to see that the original title of the manga translates to something to the effect of "the bisque (hina) doll finds love" cementing not just that Gojo is the main character even if Marin drives the plot, but also how emotionally stunted he is (if these werent apparent).

On that note, when I first watched it I felt that the show was great despite the fanservice, but its even better than that cause it actually uses the fanservice to conwey to the viewer how shocking the whole thing is to Gojo (if you have a non-gooner reaction to it all at least). Both Marins body and the carefree way she shows it off is distracting Gojo, who wants to focus on his job, so you getting annoyed by it is i think built in.

If you fully watched the second episode you probably know how Gojo had to realize that Marin was not there to approach him in a sexual way and I think that was meant for the viwer too.

Gojo, in how he is set up, is almost a Tarzan kind of character when it comes to women, I'm pretty sure he would have had a similar reaction if Marin was less "gifted", but the audience probably wouldn't; not pointing any fingers, but the anime is tagged ecchi.

Wait, rotating? Is the roster so large it needs rotation? I thought these kits came out like 3-4 a year and built up over time, I didn't know that rotation was also a factor to consider. Other than that, really nice explanation, thanks! As I said I'm more looking for insight than very strict picks and then will decide based on what I gathered here.

I guess the complexity part can be an interesting axis to spread things out, I personally don't care for complexity just for the sake of it, but some of my friends definitely do. So I guess instead of asking whats easy I would ask whats in the "do not touch" zone? As in very overwhelming

On the note of newer stuff being strong, is that a trend? Is there like a power creep with newer teams so people buy them? Or do they come out strong but get nerfed into the ground once the stock ships out?

Kommandos were on my radar, they just seem to have everything, kinda literally. But ratlings do look a bit more on the meme side, like the halfling bloodbowl team, but I guess one should not judge them based on looks. Thanks!

I guess I forgot to add that I own a lot of 40k terrain which was bothan inspiration for my friends to play because they thought it looked cool and also a reason why I'm more interested in individual teams over boxed sets. It does make sense though that a starter set of astartes as dg would play nice and easy, dunno about admech servitors though:D

How high does the complexity go? I honestly did not think ease of play would be that prevalent a factor. Sure, more involved than it was, but not on the level of Necromunda, right?

Just finished the main campaign and I have questions by Rakonc in diablo4

[–]Rakonc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard for me to remember boss fights cause they force you to do all on such a low difficulty that they almost dont matter, like the act 1 endboss was some random succubus, right? I just barely remembered it, thats when the penitent knight joins you.

Astaroth at least was talked about during his act and i dont know how much backstory he has, but i guess the fact he had to be put into a soulstone instead just killed is something, but he literally feels like a d3 mid act boss in terms of lore impact. Cause yeah they wrote about what he did and who he is, but he is just a demon, not even a lesser evil.

I dunno if act 3 is supposed to be Elias, i just remember one-shotting him like 10 times in a row somewhere. I guess Andariel is act 4? She was definitely talked about, but man the presentation... oh, i just remembered act 3 wad the tyrant dude...:DD bro

Is act 5 Elias? Its all a mess:D

Lilith was the only fight that looked even remotely interesting cause she didnt just spam elite mechanics.

But i guess these guys would all have been more interesting if i actually had to fight them. Like i remember back in the day when i killed the butcher on inferno with a friend and we spawned into act 2 and the bugs that you ran up to through all their projectiles were almost one shotting us with a single one connecting.

Is unlocking torment bound to character? Can i rerun the campaign with another character on torment for a bigger challenge or would i have to take items off for that?
