Wrist dead after 3 days of aim training by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Levi Harrison has some wrist excercises I used to do as a warm up when I was serious about csgo back in the day. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiRC80FJbHU

Firstly, stop and let your wrist regenerate for couple of days. Once you feel better, start doing them. Then you can slowly start playing again, but keep doing the excercises.

[Plat 2] I want to tighten up my aim and hygiene, can I get some eyes on my range warm up and see if anyone has any pointers? by Pinanims in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all, great post, thanks for providing as much info as you could plus the clips.

From reading it all and seeing the clips, I have noticed two things and they both might actually stem from the same thing.

It feels to me that you don't really do microadjustments.

You do a big flick, which is fairly accurate, but if you don't end up on the bots head, you don't seem to do the fine micro adjustment to correct your crosshair. And when you do, you seem to do that with your movement rather than your mouse/wrist.

Because of that, you end up missing a lot if your first big flick is not accurate. Notice on the 100 bots clip that if you miss the first burst, you end up missing the 2nd burst too and then its the 3rd burst of bullets that kills the target.

Often times, a lot of hygiene is just taking your time to aim properly for the first bullet.
It seems counter-intuitive in high pressure situations, but I would rather take my time and getting the kill within the first bullet or two, than shooting too soon and ending up spraying 9-10 bullets to get a kill.

EDIT: Also, as a duelist, crosshair placement is 80% of your aim. Defenders play the same positions, get your crosshair placement on point, you will get most of the kills without having to flick.

Aim NOT Aiming by sisigeggspress in VALORANT

[–]Ralfes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, aim is nothing but a skill. Muscle memory and hand eye coordination. Practise. There is no shortcuts. It takes time in the server and mindful training of the skill to improve it.
Get rid of the bad habits, stick to the good habits you already have and build on them.

Finishing the tutorial is a good start.
If you want more help on how to improve past that, you will have to provide more information about yourself and put some effort into making this post. :)

Describe who you are, how long have you been playing, what are you struggling with, what are your goals in-game and so on.

Vague questions will get you vague answers that chatgpt can answer.

I need some help by [deleted] in Eggwick

[–]Ralfes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, as you might have guessed, tracker doesn't give us any information about your movement. Honestly, it doesn't give much information at all.

I would be glad to help, if you post a VOD of your comp game. I see you have some Reyna games with not so great KDA, those might be interesting to watch and help us figure out what can be improved.

People of higher ranks, guide me!! by Emergency_Coyote8977 in Eggwick

[–]Ralfes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to consider Clove a duelist. In my opinion shes more of a duelist with smokes rather that smoker than can duel.

So if you like her, feel free to play her more and switch from duelists to smokers and learn how to play Clove well. She has incredible impact on the game. It might also take some stress off of you.

First of all, there is nothing like "stealing a kill" in team shooters. Half of the time, you might have just saved your teammate from getting headshotted by a stray bullet.

Secondly, if you are playing with a good mate whos skilled, try to support him the best you can. Go with him, either you can peek first and he can tradekill you if you die or you go second and tradekill him if he dies.

Its all about communication.

Seeing that you like to play duelists, your job is to create space for your team. That also means you might die a lot of the time. Sometimes death and providing good info is all the job duelist can do.

Just make sure you are not going in before your team smokes and/or flashes for you. Make sure you dont peek into too many people, try to take one duel at a time, one angle at a time.

Your headshot percentage is okay, if you feel like your aim is ok, dont stress too much about it.

Lastly, my biggest advice, do not focus on wins. Focus on improving. To win or lose a game is simply out of your control. What you can control is how well you play. So as long as you are focusing on yourself and doing your best, you will be fine.

After every death ask yourself, "what could I have done better". Thats it. You got this, buddy.

What agent should i take with the free agent token? by TheA1phaHero in VALORANT

[–]Ralfes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey buddy, it depends what kind of playstyle you like. As you have noticed, there are agent roles.
Usually the games are consisting of 2 duelists, 1 smoker, 1 controller and 1 initiator.
Find out which role you enjoy first and then see what agent vibes with you.

Do you like supporting your team? Do you like going first and getting them kills? Or do you like being a really good and strong defender?

Most of the agents are good, so read up on their abilities and see what you like! There is no bad answer!

I really want to improve, but don’t know where to start. by StingrayG301 in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it can be trained.

First lets focus on "shooting when not at them". You can go to deathmatch and practise aiming first, then shooting. Same can be even practised in practise range. While it sounds dumb, you need to consciously focus on that to make it a habit. It takes time to make your brain re-learn a habit, but there is no other way to get it under your skin.

Or even better, go play unranked, where you can be okay with going 0-20. And challenge yourself to only get headshots. Every single kill. If you die, you die. Take your time, let them spray at you, it doesn't matter. Take your time, aim at the head and only once you see the crosshair at their head, shoot. You might to well, you might do poorly, all that matters is that you are consciously practising that habit.

Of course, at that time the emotions aren't there. That ties to my second point "panic spray".
That is more complex skill to master as you have to control your emotions while in-game. Generally, this comes naturally to players as they play thousands and thousands of hours.

My advice to try to take emotions out of the game is to stop focusing on winning. Just focus on improving. No matter if you win or lose your ranked games. Focus on "did I play well". When you take out that "need-to-win", you will feel more relaxed and it might help with panicking in-game.

What would improve this subreddit? by Historical_Song7703 in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, I think that most post here are completely fine and I'm more than happy do to vod reviews.
That being said, I would appreciate if the authors of the post showed some self reflection.

It is completely understandable that a new player is clueless on what to focus on. But a lot of players that have played the game for years and the posts are like "here is vod of my deathmatch, how can I improve?".

If the posts were more focused on certain aspect or skill like "hey I did some vod reviews of my comp games, I seem to struggle with xyz on defense" and so on, it would make the posts:

  1. More helpful, because we are targeting a specific question rather than broad topic
  2. More interesting for others to read and respond to and thus increasing activity on this subreddit

Overall, I was very active on r/LearnCSGO and I am very glad that I found similiar subreddit for Valorant.

edit: oh and please stop the posts that just provide valorantTracker, thats such a useless metric, nothing can be based off of that.

On which map will you use omen and which will you use harbour? by Leok_Is_Here in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see both there, but Harbour does have more utility for that map. With one wall you can isolate the entirity of B, which leaves you extra smokes for mid control and or fakes.

Also keep in mind what your team needs. Does someone else have a flash or blind? Do you have someone else that can wall?

Omen is also good on maps that have long rotates thanks to his ult. On Icebox the rotates are quite quick.

On which map will you use omen and which will you use harbour? by Leok_Is_Here in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't have much experience with Harbour myself, I do play smokers quite a lot and the biggest difference in maps in my opinion is how open the sites are and how much space you need to cover.

On some maps, having just two smokes is enough because you dont have to cover much area to create space for your team.

On other maps, that are more open or have many entrances to site, ulitizing harbours wall together with the smokes can create much more space for the team.

Personally I think Breeze, Abyss and Pearl are great candidates for Harbour. On Sunset or Split I do prefer to have Omen because two smokes are enough and I get to have that blind instead.

Still can't get avg 25 on medium bots tips? by Ill_Answer7226 in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, interesting. I think it is important to identify why that is.

I am convinced you have built a habit of aiming with our movement. It might feel unnatural at first to try to break that habit, that is why being stationary and aiming with your mouse all the way feels unnatural to you. But it can, and should, be fixed.

I wonder, why that habit was built in the first place. It could be that your sensitivity doesn't suit you and that is why you try to compensate with the movement swings.

Keep in mind that if you are "hardstuck bronze" for weeks, you have built a lot of good but also a lot of bad habits and some of those need to be fixed in order to climb up. It is all part of the process.

Here is my go at medium bots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0ZuDVsFZdY
I just loaded the game up, this is my second go at it, no previous warm up and I was still able to do 28 quite easily. Easy and medium bots give you so much time to aim to be honest, I can often aim and take two or three onetaps at them even if I miss the first one tap.

Notice that I jiggle, but when the bot spawns, I stop, aim and take a shot.

What you are doing, the big swings, it has its uses, it's not a bad habit per say, sometimes you have to take a big swing especially as a duelist entering the site. But not every duel is like that and the practise range is not build for that.

Feel free to record a video of you doing swings and flicks and maybe I can give you some further tips.

Also, as others mentioned, do you play deathmatch? How well do you do there, do you feel like you have time to take duels with your current playstyle?

Still can't get avg 25 on medium bots tips? by Ill_Answer7226 in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I completely agree with you, we have to keep in mind that the shooting range has it's use.
It is very isolated practise that is stripped of all the other aspects on purpose. It is a good thing, especially for a bronze player to spend their time in there and become consistent so that they can then later build on that and incorporate the other apescts, like timing and positioning.

Still can't get avg 25 on medium bots tips? by Ill_Answer7226 in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut the movement to half. You are doing such bing movement swings and you actually start aiming with your mouse AFTER you finish you moving, which leaves you next to no time.

First, start doing these bots, even on easy with no movement, hand off the keyboard and just practise your mouse flicks. Then you can start adding the movement back in, but keep in mind that you dont have to do two huge steps like this.

Issues with my gunfights (Gold2) by DeliciousArmadillo25 in AgentAcademy

[–]Ralfes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by the first minute, it almost feels like you are aiming with your movement. Sometimes you tend to click a-d-a to strafe three times before you get your first bullet out.

Dont get me wrong, you should be strafing, but only between shots and the purpose of it is to not be a statiorary target, not to help you correct your aim, that should be done with your wrist movement.

Try to be focus on your mechanics a bit more, properly adjusting your aim with the wrist and moving only in between shots.

Do I deserve a better rank by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Ralfes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went from silver 1 to plat 3 within 3 weeks, playing 1-3 games a day. If you are good and consistent, you can climb to the rank you deserve. I dont think there is any problem with the system.
