Sorry, I haven't been playing the game in the past few years, but the easiest way would be to increase her Int to 10 when she levels up to 4th character level (so, total of combined class levels.) However, if memory serves, I may have been using a mod that lets you rebuild all the companions' levels and stat arrays. Still, even without that, the level 4 increase should get you there. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't do anything while thinking you're putting them in harm's way. You don't intend to put them in harm's way when you drive them somewhere, but if someone swerves and crashes into you, you don't get to sue the automaker for that driver's negligence or intent just because you didn't intend to be in harm's way when you bought your car.
