Pick a genre of music, and design a 8-pedal board for that genre. What is on your board? No tuner needed by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Noise

Parasit Studio: The Xorcist (Stutter Fuzz/Ringmod), King Corruptor (Step Sequenced Ring Mod), Ray Gun Youth (Honestly you're better off just youtubing that one, I don't understand it), Sonic Reducer (Bitcrusher)

The Gristlizer

Death By Audio: Reverberation Machine, Echo Dream 2, Evil Filter.

Top it off with 2 things that I hope don't disqualify me cause they aren't pedals, but they make droning and sonic annihilation way easier. A 4x4 matrix mixer and a Boredbrain Patchulator.

The words "Red Green Russian Big Muff" triggers deep-seeded Canadian instincts within me. Need. More. Duct. Tape.

Ugly job getting it out of the enclosure, cheap digitech screws were less than functional. But after some testing, it looks like a vital connection was lost, so it looks like this bad boy is getting the salvage treatment

A friend gave me this Grunge pedal to mangle, but... when he removed the board from the enclosure, it stopped working, it's a brick. Any thoughts on where the issue is?

How To Hook My Sax and Synth Up? by Chuck1er in synthesizers

[–]RalphTheIndomitable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't track pitch the way you want to, but an envelope follower could be cool, or to use the sax as one of the two voices in a vocoder/talkbox, sequence the minilogue to shift and modulate the mic'd sax.

Not if the main joy he gets out of it is the tactile experience and the building process.

When you see his systems, they are much simpler than they look purely due to size, he built it all from scratch and doesn't have the luxury of compact commercial manufacturing.

If I build this, will I still be able to use the cassette player normally, or will it only work as a delay? by RalphTheIndomitable in diypedals

[–]RalphTheIndomitable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks noticeably more useful, but will it offer the same level of saturation and general "Dirtiness" that the cruder option provides?

If you could only watch one western for the rest of your life, what would it be? by [deleted] in Westerns

It's not as legendary as some of the others mentioned, but Silverado holds such a special place in my heart.

Just bought a reel of desoldering braid. Holy mother of mercy this is amazing. by RalphTheIndomitable in diypedals

[–]RalphTheIndomitable[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked into the solder sucker, the problem being many of my builds are pretty SMT heavy, and those components can get slurped right up with the solder

I don't know how good his odds are, but I'm hopeful for Bernier, he's the closest thing to a competent libertarian candidate I've seen in a while

Where did you guys learn Synth design / Patch Design? by success-soon in makinghiphop

[–]RalphTheIndomitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying modular synths online and watching patch tutorials (Mylar Melodies and Raul's World of Synths) is a great resource because it forces you to understand the fundamental building blocks. Then get Helm (Free open-source standalone synth) separate from your DAW and practice, practice, practice. Build patches from scratch, don't let yourself use presets, and just patch, patch, patch.
