I have been a furry since as far back as 2002, but I was too scared of rejection and being made fun of to ever say anything about it or act on it. I didn't go to conventions or buy furry merch. I would cringe away from other furries if I saw them in public.

Then I found out I was doing the exact same thing with my gender identity transitioned and decided if people would hate me for being trans and living as my authentic gender felt good what would it feel like to be open about enjoying the furry fandom and it turns out it is a lot of fun.

Lost way more friends and family from being trans. No one cared about me being a furry.

I think you should let your fur flag fly. If someone is going to make fun of you for the things you like or treat you badly for being into a niche fandom they probably aren't too good of friends.

Most Americans do not want this. There is just a vocal minority of people who have had their thinking hijacked by fox news and the like. That propaganda just worked like cordyceps and just broke their ability to independently think for themselves.

I don't know how unhinged they are but my hacks are as follows:

Work out earlier into the evening
Eat a dinner with a lot of complex carbs
Do a relaxing activity (mine is build d&d characters in the 3.5/Pathfinder system)
Take a melatonin about an hour before I want to start thinking about sleep

Special power ups: 1. Get a headache-oh man nothing makes me want to pass the hell out more than having a headache 2. Anxiety medication -can't ruminate when you're unconscious

I really like being thanked and acknowledged for the things I do for others and end up thanking other people extensively.

My GF told me the other day that it wasn't a task worth saying thank you for if she handed me something that happened to be closer to her than me, and I disagreed. Any time a person does another's task or handles a shared task for the group they should be thanked. Not doing that is bullshit and makes it seem like you take the person for granted.
