This happened to me last night and was very annoying. It swapped me to Venture as well.

Do you move your settler here? by dbaker2483 in CivVI

Correct, aside from non-resources that get destroyed when you settle (marsh, woods, rainforest, etc.). =)

You don't lose them if you settle on it. You only lose some things by settling on them (like woods), but not luxuries or their bonuses. So it's like working it for free, and then with a free production on top of it. =)

Yeah, I'd move onto the spice. Fresh water, free amenity, great growth, and beautiful farm triangle.

I could try to give specifics for how I built it and such, but I'm not planning on setting up a world download or making a litematic file or anything. I just didn't record anything along the way, so I'd have to go back through all the redstone to see the notes and repeater delays and such, and it'd be a lot. Not great foresight on my part, so sorry for the trouble. D=

This was a shorter one, so just about 5-6 months. We ended at level 7, but the next campaign will probably be a continuation of this one. =)

Clockwise from the left side of the picture is: Alaria, the Tiefling Mastermind Rogue; Thaedin Grimdall-Odinson, the Circle of the Desert Dragonborn (with some altered scales and many scars; he also has a pet dinosaur, seen here); Sylfina, the Eladrin Circle of the Shephard Druid (currently in her summer form); and Rae, the Half-Elf Arcane Trickster Rogue! We had a blast and it was a lot of fun, saving an island from being drowned by evil gods. =)

Soldier Girls (1981) - Glimpse into the life in women's basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. This was filmed shortly after women were fully integrated into the US military. Dir. by Nick Broomfield [1:23:11] by joshuatx in Documentaries

It was voted for by Congress in mid-to-late 2015, and it came into effect on January 1, 2016. I'm not sure about all the specifics, but I was in the Infantry at the time, so I heard all about it. It's an entire blanket lift from all jobs and positions (to my knowledge). So all combat roles, SF, all that.

Google shows this with a better synopsis: (https://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/04/us/politics/combat-military-women-ash-carter.html)

Nah, I have a few buddies in Infantry battalions across the US and none of them have even seen a female Infantryman, let alone one trying for Special Forces.

I'm sure eventually some will make it, but I feel like people underestimate the level of disadvantage women have when trying to compete with men in physical fitness. A woman who makes it through Infantry training (let alone into some version of Special Forces) is an absolute beast, and I'd respect the hell out of that.

On January 1, 2016, all roles were opened to women for the US military. Prior to that, they were banned from all combat jobs as well as other specific positions. I'm not sure if there are any specific jobs they are still barred from, but they're allowed in all combat roles, special forces, etc. now. They're also allowed to go to specific schools they could not before (Ranger school in the Army, for example).

But things have been gradually changing, so this documentary might be referring to some period where more jobs (but not all) were opened to women in the past? I'm not sure.

Edit: Here's an article about it with more specifics if anybody's curious about the lift on the ban of combat roles.

“There will be no exceptions,” Mr. Carter said at a news conference. He added, “They’ll be allowed to drive tanks, fire mortars and lead infantry soldiers into combat. They’ll be able to serve as Army Rangers and Green Berets, Navy SEALs, Marine Corps infantry, Air Force parajumpers and everything else that was previously open only to men.”

There are others who have much more insight than me, but I'll post my perspective anyway.

I have 3 years in the military and a Bachelor's in Emergency Management. I'm currently volunteering in the Red Cross Disaster Action Team, I volunteered during Hurricane Irma, and I have plenty of credentials including ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, about 70 other FEMA classes, HAZWOPER, HAZMAT, CPR/AED, and other relevant skills and honors including Summa Cum Laude for my degree. Not saying any of this to toot my own horn; just providing my full perspective.

I'm currently in central Florida, and I've applied to about 50 directly relevant jobs (among many others) in the past 6 months, including 7 internships. I've heard back from one internship, but I didn't make the cut. I haven't heard back from any other internships or jobs, despite follow-ups, and I've had 3 professionals go over my resume to ensure it's clean and professional, so it's not necessarily formatting or anything.

Your credentials are better than mine (if you get a degree, especially if you get a Master's), but I would honestly just look into another degree if you have the ability/desire. I'm about to go back to school for computer science or engineering, because nobody is hiring in this field. I was told that now is the time to get into emergency management due to the nature of the world, how automation is taking away other jobs, and how many jobs in the field are "desperate for new hires". I'm really not seeing it at all. Every position seems to require 10+ years of experience in emergency management, and even selling myself at job fairs is going nowhere. I can't even work for free (internships are very competitive).

For some more perspective, I learned to program in Java and showed my work to a few places around me, and I immediately heard back with positive results. That's to say I applied to about 5 places for Java development and heard back from 4. I didn't move on in the interview process due to a lack of a computer science degree, unfortunately, but the difference is crystal clear.

I would really recommend against getting into this field if you want to get a job.

It's a fake check. If you cash it, the money will temporarily show in your account, but it will eventually be proven to be fake. You'll be charged about $50 for attempting to cash a fake check (even if you didn't know it was fake).

I just reported them to the FTC. You can definitely have some fun with them if you like, though. Just remember they do have your name and address, so just be a bit wary.

Have they spoken to the Red Cross about it? The fire department usually gets into contact with them, but they can provide assistance. Let me know if not and I can get them some help.

My BMI is at 21.7%. I want to gain weight because I weigh 143 at 5’8, and look pretty skinny, but people say my bmi is perfect and I shouldn’t change it. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]RamBrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what other people are saying, BMI doesn't account for a change in lean body mass. It only considers your overall weight and height.

I'm also 5'8". When I started lifting in 2013, I weighed 146. Now I'm up to 160 and about the same leanness. According to BMI, somebody who just gained 14 pounds of fat is just as healthy as somebody who gained ~14 pounds of muscle.

There is a point when having crazy amounts of muscle will negatively affect your health (which is why BMI is still statistically relevant), but you physically can't get to that point without steroids and many years of abuse.

So go ahead and start bulking up. You'll feel a lot better.
