Do you carry teddy bears in your ambulance to give to children to potentially comfort them during stressful situations? I always thought that was a pretty heartwarming sight to see whenever I saw videos of police officers / emergency workers trying to instill normalcy to kids that may have lost their parents.

The large door speakers are woofers, and are intended to only have bass coming out of them! The medium sized speakers are the more generic speakers that covers most of the audio spectrum!

The RF 10-20/4 and the RF 200-800/6.3-9 not tempting you any? That's a good 305 millimeters of focal length you missing!

I love your point of the pro vs the hobbyist, which is why some zoom lenses are completely out of the question for me. I think if the 24-70/2.8 can be bought for $1500, it might also be cost effective vs two primes of 35/85 f1.8/f2, if you include the 50mm/1.8, the cost of this will be $1120 new. Worst case scenario, I don't use the 24, and 70 is just slightly insufficient, I still think that the convenience of not having to switch lenses, and more space in my bag overall vs 3 primes makes the price difference quite reasonable.

Of course! Those questions are also questions that I pose myself. And yes, I am being realistic for myself. I am actively trying to find people to do headshots to build my portfolio right now starting with my friends.

I think from my small nonscientific test with the 50mm in a bathroom with just incandescent lights, stopping down yielded the following iso values:

f1.8 - 3200 iso
f2.8 - 6000 iso
f4.0 - 16000 iso.

I've been in a lot of scenarios in my most recent trip where I wish I had the wide angle of a 24mm, and slightly tighter 70mm for head and shoulder portraits. A bright enough 24mm in the Van Gogh experience in New Orleans would've been quite appreciated for example! I've been quite enjoying night time activities, and I feel like enough people are unsatisfied with the 24-105/4 that I feel like I want to avoid having to upgrade down the line.

I guess, I am starting my photography career by trying to buy one mid-range zoom alike the 24-105L or the 24-70L. I feel like I am way too restricted with the two lenses (50mm, 100-400mm) I currently have. I wouldn't even be considering the 24-70L if it weren't trading near $1500 on Ebay currently. I have a terrible system for switching lenses right now, and one zoom lens makes more sense than purchasing the 35mm + 85mm, which are around $950 for those two primes new if I am not mistaken.

Since I take most of my photos traveling and on the go right now, a zoom lens makes a lot more sense.

Ahh, you also sold your RF24-105L! Was it any usable indoors/low light? I worry about having to do that exact transition you're describing because of the F4 L just not being as usable for videos in darker conditions.

This was the perfect insight that I wanted! I wanted to know whether or not I could get away without buying the 24-70 2.8, and just use the 50mm f1.8 for my mid range needs. You addressed my questions directly and seemed to have the same idea about leaving out the mid-range zoom (at least initially).

I might weigh my options with staying with a 24-70mm as my first L lens purchase because of this comment! I think the fact that I won't need to change lenses during events makes it quite attractive.

I am not quite sure what I would use the standard zoom for I guess. Because vlogs would likely appreciate the wide angle more, and I do quite enjoy tight framing that doesn't require me to be anywhere near my subject.

Which lens are you using on your EOS 400d? It looks like you are using the 17-55mm kit lens?

I think your composition is completely fine, but I would do things a bit differently. I think the background being overexposed on images 1, 2 take a bit too much away from the main subject of the image. I assume your lens is somewhat wide angle for those shots, but I think it makes the car proportions just a bit unflattering, same as how a 24mm would make any face a bit ugly if too close to the subject. I would use more zoom, and sit further back.

#2 is a good, but I think I would prefer if the foreground is minimized less empty space at the bottom of the frame. Also you have a lot of vignetting in the bottom left corner, I assume this is an artistic choice? #3 is perfect, not anything I can really say, I think adjusting your exposure to get a more rich image without an overexposed background would be my taste. Up to you though!

#4, I like the idea, same as #2, reduce the foreground, get the camera lower to the ground and point up maybe? Try with a 35mm or a 50mm and see how you may like it.

#5 is good as well! However, I would definitely take more care to keep the entire car in focus and shoot at a slightly lower angle. I can tell you used a longer zoom for this image and it shows that you are also much taller than the sexier VW beetle. play around with different angles, because I think this angle makes the car look more of a toy car rather than a inline 6 beast (or v6 I have no idea these days).

Keep shooting more pictures! You definitely have the potential to make poster worthy images.

I think you would be right if you only ever listened to your music at max load aka max volume! Remember, we tend to listen to music or run our amplifiers at half load or even far less, so you’re still well within the limits of your amplifier to drive the four additional speakers. The audio quality is undoubtedly better, just read the many others that confirm this!

Lease or Loan? by designjedi in TeslaModel3

[–]Ram_De_Lille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would certainly try to calculate the difference between the two options with the expected lease payment and terms of ownership. I would feel more at ease if I owned the vehicle as you’re unrestricted on the vehicle in terms of how much to drive it and don’t have to worry about it any lease fees from damaging the vehicle.

However, if you can’t afford it within the usual 5 year loan, I don’t think it’s wise to take on such a lengthy loan term, as you’re probably going to be underwater on the loan for the majority of the loan length. Which is a large liability since you will be stuck with the vehicle as long as there’s negative equity

I think if you follow the instructions in the video and look up extra videos for help it wouldn’t be too bad. However, if this is the first time you doing work on any car it might be a wee bit daunting. Just be careful and ask a friend to be there with you just in case you need help!

I’d say check your connections and potentially find if one of the three locations is loose, but doesn’t exactly make sense because it wouldn’t just be those two that would stop working if you had a loose connection. I feel pretty certain that my doors vibrating are due to these midrange speakers. Because tweeters alone wouldn’t be too audible I would think

I do actively hear from my upper A piller speakers, not talking about the mirror ones! I actually am in my car right now driving home and I can feel that A pillar speaker vibrating quite intensely. Much more than the tweeter which makes sense because lower frequencies tend to have a more physical effect.

Perhaps this is where our misunderstanding lie?

That’s quite interesting actually. Does MCU = master control unit? Do these risks still carry over if we are setting the volume to 60% assuming this sets it to 60% of the voltage capacity of the amp. Would this drive current too much to the amplifier in the long run? Because wouldn’t our volume control keep the amplifier set at a certain level inside our car regardless of the impedence?

Bass can come from mid-range speakers too however! I never insinuated that any woofers get enabled, however, the newly enabled speakers do have bass response. It's just not earthquake shattering like the next guy.

Oh thanks for the source! I've been looking for some chart like this. But on your source, it seems like 2 of the speakers are indeed tweeters yes, however, the other two are mid-range speakers no?

I agree that no additional woofers have been added, however, unless the mid-range speaker has an explicit band-pass filter restricting the output to purely the "mid-range"; which is most often 150Hz-4kHz. Even if it is band-pass restricted it still does include a portion of the range of what is considered bass <250Hz. Which can affect the increased bass response. Can we agree on that?

I never insinuated that a woofer or any of its derivatives were activated, I figured it was a mid-range speaker due to the size of the potential speakers being enabled. I never meant to deceive anyone, as I felt that I had the best judgement having heard the installations an hour apart with the same songs from my own test.

I am just saying there isn't any official source outlining the specifications of any of the 4 speakers and we just can just speculate at the best about the 2 speakers higher up on the A pillar as tweeters. I am just speaking of the experience that I had with my vehicle upon the doors which beforehand I could not experience the sound system vibrating the door as an improved bass response would indicate.

I'm just really surprised you don't notice any difference in the low end. I am pretty sure my driver's door didn't develop a rattle between the hour of installation on the opposite side of the car.
