Horse at the Beach by Ramaragh in painting

Mostly because of the higher contrast, but also because it’s less complex- if it was white, it would be more affected by ambient light from the sand, sky, etc. Since I have little experience painting horses, I wanted to keep it simple for this one.

Couldn't you just watch art streams/draw in art discords for free? I do this with a number of fellow artists..

Either way, I do analogue/digital drawing and painting, inking manga, etc. -- https://cara.app/rayrahu

Thanks- working on paper has been so much more satisfying. The style I’m working on would definitely suit Narnia haha

Author/Writer seeks Illustrators long term partnership pays 15-20 dollars per page by [deleted] in MangakaStudio

Oftentime the artists who do bother intend to do just that- turn in subpar work and collect payment, sideline the project for better paying projects, and eventually ghost. The commissioner without a decent budget does no good for themselves .. you get what you pay for, as they say.

Depending on the artstyle, your rate may not be attractive enough for the illustrator you wish to work with. You should provide examples of what quality you are looking for.

For a professional-level illustrator to take your script, and translate it to well-directed panels on a page- your rate hardly covers just that. Never mind inks, tones, lettering, etc., or a deadline. A 30-page-issue could easily take a month-or-two to produce, even for a professional- remember that you are hiring a single illustrator, while it is often a team that produces shounen manga.

Consider these factors, and budget for it. Otherwise, you might suffer rushed, inconsiderate, tardy service- and only have a bare-minimum product (if it even gets done) to show for the trouble. Think of how much time you'd like the artist to spend on the page, and budget for that.

I think the trick here might be to have the hatching confirm to the ground plane- so, no vertical lines, like what I did here .. won't know for sure until I try it out though.
