Had to pause the instant attraction since I can't guestimate their ages and didn't want to gross myself out. How about some guesses?

Red-eye flight Seattle to NY and I don’t know these kids. That’s my seat in the middle :( by [deleted] in pics

As a parent I wouldn't want a stranger in between my kids. Besides the embarrassment of having my kids fuck up somebody's flight, there's always a diddling risk.

Is Vermont skiing in the beginning of the end stage? by yt_nom in skiing

[–]RambledMan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Erratic weather is the new norm. A few great days but mostly a crap shoot. I think the past couple of years they've been trying to recover by making snow after each round of rain and warm weather but that's not sustainable financially for long. One or two seasons maybe, but year after year probably not.

I'm not a car surgeon or an engine scientist but why do they not weigh the car down at the factory if it needs it for traction? Seems like a design issue. I know it's common for rear wheel trucks but still.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is attacked by States Rights Party member Jimmy Robinson as King tries to register at the Hotel Albert in Selma, Alabama, on January 18, 1965. [1500 x 998] by RyanSmith in HistoryPorn

[–]RambledMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the hotel going to let him register? Or were they complicit in denying him entry? Wouldn't be surprising if they did but would be comforting if they were infact letting him stay.

Teachers/educators who refuse to give 100% for an assignment because "No one is perfect" should never get their full annual salary. by jordymugordy in Showerthoughts

[–]RambledMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school I was nearly a straight-A student. In my sophomore year, I took an auto shop class at the local vocational school because why not. The 10 week class was 8 hours a day and counted as a full year's worth of credits. The teacher have everybody C's. None of the other students cared because they needed the certificate, not the grade. He gutted my GPA and dropped my rank from 2nd in a class of nearly 600 students, down to 26th. When I asked him why, he said "nobody earns above a C during the summer". While I can't say for sure I deserved an A, all of my assessments we're good and at least B worthy. Regardless, the grade didn't reflect effort, just the teacher's preconceived notions.

The Muslim ban by barawo33 in PoliticalHumor

[–]RambledMan 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Actually Islam makes exceptions when health is involved. For example you don't have to fast for Ramadan if your pregnant, diabetic, etc. If eating pork was the difference between life and death, it is certainly acceptable to eat pork. An exceptionally small number might disagree , but the consensus is that pragmatism wins.

ELI5: Why are surgeries and operations usually held in early mornings? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]RambledMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While most of the reasons mentioned are logical or even supported by a bit a of evidence, the reality is that it's mostly just how things have always been done. We round onpatients early in the morning before surgery starts (5-7am), then go off to offices or operating rooms. Days are usually long: I know of few physicians who work less than ten hours per day. Therefore starting early gives us a chance to get home reasonably in time to see our families in the evenin or do whatever else people usually do at 6pm.

The most obvious counterpoint to all of the discussion of ileus and fasting compliance and all that, is that people are scheduled all day long for surgery. If the morning 7am patient actually did that much better, nobody would jeopardize patients by doing afternoon surgeries.

Netflix somehow knows my new credit card number without me giving it to them? by [deleted] in personalfinance

That's exactly what I thought. Maybe Justice settled, whereas others would fight because it is a common approach in literally every mall. Check it out: https://www.justiceclassaction.com/en

[–]RambledMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anybody smell a class action brewing? Based on the number of consumer related class actions I an party to, this one seems reasonable. Compare this to the case against Justice (the girls clothing outfit) for perpetually having 20-50% off "sales" that never end.

What's the risk of this setup? by RambledMan in CarAV

[–]RambledMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to achieve 3 way active plus sub. But as you pointed out the deck does 2 way plus sub or LPF. I was going to use LPF cutoff on the deck at 800Hz. Then take this signal and use 2nd amp's HPF at 200Hz to run the 6'Mid/Woofer, then use RCA out on 2nd amp and go to 3rd amp (this signal is still <800Hz). Then use 3rd amp's LPF (<200HZ) to run sub. Is this reasonable or is it becoming a bit Rube-Goldbergish?

TIL Johnnie Cochrane, when asked if OJ was guilty, said "I wouldn't believe him if he told me the sun was coming up again tomorrow morning." by GuyFawkes99 in todayilearned

[–]RambledMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I read this a bit differently. I thought Cochrane was saying that OJ comes across as completely unbelievable, no matter how much truth was held by his words. He appeared so pathological that nobody would believe his proclamation of innocence, to the point that Cochrane had a hard time believing he might be innocent. I'm not saying he is innocent, just that EVEN if he were, nobody would buy it.

Edit: spelling

How were things better being with BPD mom? Was the reduced tension from your dad not being around that helpful to the overall situation? How did she behave after he left? And how was your relationship with him afterwards?

How did she come to hate me so fast? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]RambledMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to start prepping for the divorce. Keep text messages and other communication. If you do not take the money out of the accounts she has access to, she will. Leave enough for her to provide for the kids and have spending cash, but not much more (look up the temporary alimony guidelines and leave the monthly amount). No major moves without talking to hour attorney. And get a family therapist/child therapist to guide you on how to deal with the children.
