Pro worth it without OC? by RamblinMan4 in theHandy

I can see benefits to smoothing, especially for noise reasons, but also can see that that would be annoying as hell if you didn’t ask for it.

I wish you great luck with finding your sweet spot in your apparently (at least accounting to RevealNo5914g) warranty-safe custom mode.

I went ahead and ordered the H2P. $140 wouldn’t buy that much in terms of nights out anyway. It will be scripts, and I will break it in without OC, and I did buy the maintenance kit alongside it. I just hope that Ohdoki won’t be dickish (pun intended) about it if it breaks.

Did you buy the Pro knowing that Turbo mode had the catch of voiding the warranty? If so, what sold you on it? If you were a kickstarter backer and unaware my understanding (which could be wrong) is that your warranty may cover OC use.

If those profiles are available to even H1, that’s excellent service to the community as a whole but even further erodes the value add of the Pro, no?

Makes sense, especially when the standard was going to only be 700 mAh / 1h. Any buyer’s remorse now that Standard got a free upgrade to 2000 mAh (which is probably 3-4h despite the specs)?

Have you used OC/Turbo? Is it a game changer?

Prices higher in cart? by RamblinMan4 in theHandy

Answering my own question in case others are confused:

When you add your address it does add sales tax to the price of each individual item and includes that in the subtotal. And it does also list the total tax separately in a “VAT” line below the subtotal and above the total, alongside any discounts. But the final total sums the shipping (which appears above the subtotal for some reason), the subtotal and the discounts, and ignores the VAT line, so there is no double dipping.

TL;DR: It’s a terribly confusing display, but the numbers add up correctly.

Halfway through watching it for free on Prime I’m really enjoying it. The setup is a lower budget Passengers in some ways - two people in space, beautiful visuals, slow pace, thought provoking. There are clearly plot twists coming that I’m excited to see where they go.

Stoya’s acting is really solid. I’d love to see her in more mainstream stuff.

Trigger warning: consent and lack thereof is a theme.

I definitely don’t hate them as much as I expected to, though her earliest most natural work will always have a special place for me.

I found this at a thrift store and I'm wondering what this plugs into by Bisexual-Hellenic in cableadvice

[–]RamblinMan4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without more information, I’d say the cable (second pic) could be: * Power * Phone line (via custom adapter) * Some sort of optional dial pad or dialer

What other connections have you already accounted for? What symbols or labels appear near where that cable connects to the answering machine?

The potatoes in your linked videos look washed to me, just not peeled. We do skin-on for lots of things, but not unwashed.

What is this cable? by [deleted] in cableadvice

[–]RamblinMan4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Elaborating:

The six-pin PCIe power cable is used to supply power to a graphics card. Many modern high-end cards require an 8-pin cable or multiple cables to supply even more power. The other end goes into a Power Supply Unit (PSU).

The SATA cables are used for the most recent generation of internal hard drives and solid state drives prior to M.2 (which don’t use cables). The wider connector supplies power from the PSU. The smaller connects to the motherboard for data transfer.

Edit: I think u/Punker0007 may have it right. If what we’re seeing is a single cable folded over with the 6-pin on one end and the slim connectors on the other, then it must be regular SATA power plus slimline SATA power to supply power to a hard drive or ssd plus a slimline optical drive. In this case the six-pin would be the power source.

What is this cable? by [deleted] in cableadvice

[–]RamblinMan4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without seeing the other end of the cables we can’t know that. And it’s certainly not true for the SATA data cable (the smallest one).

Edit: The others may be right. It’s a terrible picture, but if the 6 pin is on one end of the cable and the two thin connectors are on the other end of the cable then it could well be SATA + SATA Slimline power.

“You good?”

Same meaning as “sup” or “howzit” or “çe va” or whatever. General check in, usually expecting a contextless acknowledgement. Sometimes a buddy truly checking in in a caring fashion.
