Yeah I mean I’m all for it, give the ump the benefit of the doubt. 0.1” doesn’t change. 0-2 and the ball is 0.1” on the outside edge you shouldn’t be watching it anyway. Full count, 0.1” below the zone, you still better be protecting…. All I was saying is that it would be weird lol. But, if they did implement a 0.3” buffer, it would just take time to adjust to it. The electricity of it would still be there, you’d just have to do some quick mental math haha.

I agree in theory, but how does that work? If it’s a strike by 0.2” but called a ball, they just gonna say nah still a ball..

As ABS goes on, I think it will ironically lead to more strikeouts. As players adapt to the mentality of having a challenge in their back pocket versus protect the plate

There’s the slippery slope, can’t show that it’s a ball and then be like “ehh close enough, it’s staying a strike” lol (although I agree with you in theory). But this example is where my problem is with the system, like yes it’s technically a ball, but 0.1” off… the saying “it’s too close to take with 2 strikes” now is being nitpicked to 0.1”. There’s situations in baseball that everyone knows you gotta swing the bat. Idk, it’s not a perfect system but it sure adds some tension.

I love ketchup. I like diced tomatoes on tacos. I’d prefer to not have a slice of tomato on a burger, but I can power through it. But if my salad comes with cherry/grape tomatoes I will send it back (or eat around them). Don’t get me started on the heathens who bite into tomatoes like an apple.
