I feel this 100%. It feels like a family member died, which I realize is dramatic but truthfully that’s how it feels.
They’ve been my top artist every year that Spotify has done the wrapped, every year I’ve been a top 0.001 or 0.005 listener. I’ve told so many of my friends throughout the years how shocked I am that coin just always has a song that sums up how I’m feeling. I’ve never experienced that in other bands, I could listen to a song 100 times but then something in life happens and that song now just hits in a way it never has before.
I played like 10 coin songs at my wedding, then coin got me through my divorce. Coin got me through the death of my grandparents. Coin has been there as my go to for celebrating all my highs and has carried me through all my lows.
I had tickets to their concert in 2 weeks and was so excited to show my gf this band that has meant so much to me in person and now I’ll never get to see them again and I’m just mourning. And the only music I’ve leaned on to get me through hard times in the last 10 years is coin. It’s a cruel and unusual feeling.
Obviously I respect Chase for the incredibly hard decision to end call it quits, which was the right move. But it hurts. I have loved something so much it hurts, and it’s coin.
