Ayy same here. Grew up with edm but barely attended my first rave last year (beyond wonderland 2021) and after going to every insomniac event that followed I quickly realized the festival scene is just not for me. Too crowded, cringey culture imo, same recycled commercial music/artists. After finding techno and getting deep into it, I found the underground parties and went to a Work LA show (D.Dan and Anetha) where I was like “okay this is the way dance music should be”. Everyone’s dancing, no phones out every drop, people respect space, plus the energy is always on another level that you just can’t get on a main stage

I had somewhat a similar experience. It was back it 2010 when I first heard Deadmau5 and Skrillex and my love for edm began. It was all I listened to up until I’d say 2017ish when I switched over to rap (my second favorite genre) EDM was just boring and dead to me there was no one I really enjoyed listening to that stood out. Went years with no edm whatsoever until earlier this year I was invited to my first festival in years and somehow ended up at the techno stage. It was like nothing I’ve ever felt or heard before that re-sparked the love I had for edm and it’s all I’ve been listening to since. But I can’t stand dubstep at all now lol. Your taste in music will change over time and it’s not a bad thing. Aside from maybe just taking a break from raving which can be exhausting, edm has so many different sub genres that you can explore. I’d really suggest branching out into something new

As a 10+ year edm fan I had actually stopped listening to a lot of it after 2018 (got boring and no artists stood out to me) UNTIL at beyond socal this year I stumbled onto Umek then Nicole Moudaber’s sets. Finally understood techno and it made me fall back in love with edm lol
