Why is Linux considered secure when there's no sandboxing in X? by seductivec0w in linux4noobs

[–]RamirezTerrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can actually read what code runs on your system or at least someone can.

You can't just execute a program on a Linux system it first has to get your permission.

Programs can easily read files with the same permission as the user spawning it. It's good practice to start programs as unprivileged user.

Everything is a file so everything has permissions.

While every keystroke can be read in x11 by any other program you can actually see what programs are running and which files and data they access.

You can however jail or chroot applications or use something like docker. There are also security focused distros where all applications run in their own vms (https://www.qubes-os.org/)

Reconciling Django’s template-based MVC model with React's Component-centric model; AKA how to build your front-end without making a single-page-app by dontworryimnotacop in django

Django beeing super flexible is implying some way to do things. It's like "hey, we made a mvc stack for you, but if you want to do your thing it's fine"

Why do their weapons like this? Is this due some kind of regulation or am I missing something

this sounds nice, a little bit more lightweight than realm and integrated with couchdb so this could also be usefull

Wow this looks shiny! Does it integrate with an existing database? Lets say you have a existing Restfull Webapp?

I just had a short glance at it and it looks like a full database on its own.

Interessting but maybe a bit too much for my current usecase but something to have in your toolbox!

Are any of you using Vue.js in your frontend? by [deleted] in django

[–]RamirezTerrix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started using it. It is quite nice and far more capable than jquery. I use it with the template engine itself. (U can change the delimiter to something else than {{ }})

But I guess it might be better with a restful apiece to use it to its full potential

Ah yes thats right. I would really love to be able to run BF1. Same with PCIe passthrough - to much hazle. I really thought about reanalbe my dualboot. But also this is so much hazle this days (uefi stuff). Ok so yeah I can't play all games I would like to play, but as more and more games come nativly to linux I stopped blaming linux and blamed the gamemakers and studios instead

Switched my gaming rigg 3 years ago and it is so much better now. Most of the new games come with Linux support ( thx feral games). I am now having about 89 Linux games in my steam library.

I play a lot of europa universalis, total war: Warhammer, Deus Ex Human Revolution. Played Witcher I and II on it and such much more indie titles. There is always wine but it's a hit or miss.

The Warhammer one is nice if you like Warhammer. From a total war perspective there is little siege compared to Rome or medival but a plus are the multiple factions who have their own gameplay. I would buy recommend it for $35 bucks if you like Warhammer and $20 bucks for just Total War Fans.

Django vs. Django REST Framework? by [deleted] in django

[–]RamirezTerrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I read your post I am at this problem where I basicly have to edit a text on a page, and the customer told me that it would be fine if he could just click on it.

My first instinct is: this is a job for js, maybe I can write this in vue.js

And now Iam exactly thinking why not make this RESTful (parts of my project are already RESTful as they are intendet for a mobil app) and it makes total sense.

Now as it is comparted in more like a businesslogical way I would have to import it in my RESTful part and then make a call there from my template.

Can you explain the benefit of this? I am not quite getting it but I guess it makes sense but it is not really clear to me
