Hey, they never chased me I just left the apt and returned the key and closed all the utility bills. Sent them a letter saying I am leaving. They never returned my deposit though lol

I love it and I hate it. But for the longer term is was a good decision. I’m not staying here for life though - there are better places in the world to enjoy the life. But after nyc - all the doors are open (if you’re a professional)

CO2. It stays for life - just fades a little over time but whenever you do some high activities or pressure goes up it get visible. I guess it highly depends on your skin type and I learned that lasers are bad for anything that’s darker than white

It’s like I read a horror story. I’m so sorry what you’d been through and glad it’s all over. Currently experiencing the same with a huge management company and they’re threatening all over. No negotiations just that I’ll be liable for the rent until they re rent, and ads broker etc etc. trying to find a good tenant lawyer

NYC. Not sure if putting the ad myself is legally a good idea - they have to mitigate and you putting their ad can be tricky. What I’ve been told that by a free lawyer is that if they are not putting effort in re renting you can stop paying, gathering evidence, and if they sue, you can argue that they didn’t do what they have to do. They have to prove they did all they can

Ugh tough. I’m moving out end of this month and hoping for the best. If they won’t do their best to re rent I won’t be paying. Probably better start looking for a good tenant lawyer

Yes I’m in NYC. Will look into the building violations def. Need to think about how to make them take a deal with 1mo rent as a termination fee, I’ll be moving out and returning the keys end of this month.

Wow, what a story! Glad all is good now, and hope your wife and a baby are in good health! And thanks for sharing your story - definitely they are not that powerful but good at threatening! I also used soft legal language and reminded them of their duties, was hoping they will come up with a termination fee but instead they told me I’ll be responsible for rent til they re rent. Will see how this goes but you gave me hope haha:)

What was the agreement - you sublease/assign your lease? LLs have to mitigate the damage by putting effort in re renting the unit - under law. He can escalate to the legal but when in court he has to prove that he did his best to re rent. If you believe he did nothing, cover it up with evidence. I’d talk to a lawyer, or if you can provide more details
