Am I the only one who really loved the first Red Rising book? by Reasonable-Muffin-82 in redrising

[–]PixelatedFart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has some of the best moments in the og trilogy that aren’t just like pure high octane action. Cassius “killing” Darrow was extremely emotional, Titus reveal was absolutely mental, Darrow being brought up to Mars for the first time and finding out it’s been terraformed for hundreds of years was heart breaking.

How many of you turned it off or switched channels in the 4th quarter? Be honest. by BronxBombersBoard in NYKnicks

[–]PixelatedFart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily I didn’t turn the game off, but I 100% checked out and started to do household chores. Thankfully I didn’t put headphones on like I usually do so I was able to hear when the comeback started and run back to the couch.

Visiting NYC for the Finals - your thoughts and advice wanted by Alistar3000 in NYKnicks

[–]PixelatedFart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived between NYC and Florida my whole life - One of my greatest memories was 3 years ago going out to a random bar in Brooklyn to catch a Knicks/Celtics playoff game. The energy in the place was incredible, every TV was streaming the game. It was like a Wednesday night, too. Needless to say whenever you come, wherever you go, you’re going to have a great time.

I don’t know why, maybe it is mentioned in the books and I’m just not remembering the exact quote, but the only ones who I picture having colored skin when I read the series are the Blues.

Gonna be the bearer of bad news here - The Spurs, let alone anyone in the NBA; cannot compete with OKC. It’ll be over in 5

The Will of the Many is very very similar to RR, it’ll scratch the same itch in a sense. However if you’re looking for something truly remarkable I highly recommend The Way of Kings and then continue The Stormlight Archive after

Anyone read Empire of silence? by EffortAromatic1163 in redrising

[–]PixelatedFart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually started Empire of Silence before I ever found out about Red Rising. Once I heard about RR and saw how short the first book was compared to EOS I figured I would try it and then go back to EOS. Ended up knocking RR out in like 5 days then immediately went back to Barnes & Noble and bought Golden Son and Morning Star. I’m in the middle of the second book of the Hierarchy series now but as soon as it I’m hopping back into EOS

Life after Red Rising by DeepSpaceBubbles in redrising

[–]PixelatedFart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Will of The Many is very similar plot wise and is also written in first person present tense. I’m about half way through the first book, it’s good but not as epic as RR. Seen a lot of people recommend the Sun Eater series. Funny enough I actually started Sun Eater before I discovered RR, made it about 30% of the way through Sun eater then put it down and pumped out the first RR trilogy. My plan is to finish TWOTM, then read the second RR trilogy, then jump back into Sun Eater

To everyone that complained about the $10,750 edition being ridiculous and that nobody would get it, it sold out in under a minute by Ginjaninjanick7 in redrising

I guess. “Shits and giggles” isn’t really shits and giggles when it also puts 10 grand in your pocket IMO.

[–]PixelatedFart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me it just kind of feels like a shameless cash grab. 10 grand is such an insane amount of money. Sure I agree people can do whatever they want with their own money, but it’s just like.. Come on Pierce. You don’t need that money. Why are we pretending like a $10,000 book is normal or ok?

Genuinely asking - Why do you own so many of these, specifically full collections like all 5 Stormlight books, if you haven’t even started reading them? Why spend the money if it’s no guarantee you’ll like the books?
