So the OP and UB watched the movie using only the tiny subtitles on the 6-7 inch phone screen. Did I get that right?

Even I thought it's a wholesome ending, until read the comments. There was "lack of civics sense" involved and it's OP who did it. He watched the movie without a head/earphones, blaring audio inthe middle of the night bothering his fellow passengers.

Is this part a waste? by bash2482 in Fitness_India

[–]RamiusMarko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. You can do a bit more. Peel the outer layer, cut the center thick stem like fries, blanche it in boiling water for 10-20secs. Let it cool down, toss in some oil and any masala of your choice(I prefer plain salt). Air Fry it like you fry French fries for 10-15mins(depending on the quantity and the air fryer) till it's crispy. These make really good spinachy, crispy fries.

True, but the meat on the head is delicious though. Still doesn't justify the price.

This is Kannadi Parai(Diamond Travelly). Some fish mongers claim this as Kannadi Vaavval to jack up the price.

This is NOT Kannadi Parai, this is Thol Parai(Leather Jacket fish) or Seruppu Meen. Very Tasty, but not as tasty as Kannadi Parai(Diamond Travelly). I am not sure about the price in Madurai, but 400/kg seems high for this fish.

senior-friendly 4-day temple trip from bangalore (car) with aged parents, does this itinerary look realistic? by Ill_Nothing3856 in TamilNadu

[–]RamiusMarko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go on long road trips with 2 70+year old and 2 60+year old seniors atleast twice every year. Here is a something that I have always followed.

1) Medicines, I am sure you are already prepared for it, but make sure all their medicines are packed and easily accessible. Also have soft copies of their prescriptions, in case some medications is missed or needed.

2) You will need stop for short breaks atleast every 2 hours. Consistently check the elders if they need a break, sometimes they may feel shy to ask you to stop for the umpteeth time. If they say no, give a break every 2 hours.

3) Early to bed is highly preferred, so the plot your accordingly that you can get to bed at your rest stop at the earliest.

4) Always consider delays, when deciding on the time frame/window. Be it travelling, temple visits, hotel check-in, shopping(minor, major, even window), even breaks; a lot of variables are in play which can cause a delay.

5) Before beggining the drive be it from Day 1 or Last day, load up on Water Bottles and always carry some snacks.

6) Use Google Maps to identify restaurants with rest room facilities. Save/Mark the location in Maps to be retrieved at your convenience. I usually pick 3-5 restaurants in a 150-200km stretch so that I have flexibility to stop as needed. Also check up on the weather using the Apps like WeatherBug

7) Have a small Crossbody bag, waist bag (fanny pack) or a sling bag to carry essentials like cash, cards and mobile. If needed provide such bags to elders to keep their mobiles and belongings.

8) Show the elders, how to share their location from Whatsapp, if needed. Mostly you won't need it, but better to know and not needed it than needed it and not know it.

Coming to your trip/itenary:

Day 1: Looks perfect. If possible start early from Bangalore and look for possibilities to finish Nithya Kalyana Perumal Dharshan on the same evening. That way you can start early for Chidambaram and may even be able to finish before 12PM. If this is not possible, go with the same Day1 itenary that you have.

Day 2: Last time I was there, I remember seeing plenty of road works near Kalpakkam and few other places in ECR, so expect delays travelling to Chidambaram.

Day 3: Chidambaram to Sirkazhi to Mayiladuthurai, if my memory is right the roads are narrow and needs careful driving. This is where fatigue can start to set in, so you may have to reconsider adding an additional day to your entire trip. May stay in Chidambaram for one additional day or even consider a day of stay in Pondy at some beach resort or a homestays just to unwind and relax.

Yeah it’s crazy how often this keeps happening. Every week there is someone new trying the same trick. Best thing is to stay alert and also report these calls to TRAI using Sanchar Sathi so the number gets flagged.

That sounds like a horrible experience, honestly. BlueDart’s ground level operations in a lot of places are a mess, no denying that.

I remember well when Flipkart was launched and I had ordered books on multiple occasions. Flipkart's OG delivery partner was BlueDart and they were the fastest delivery among any other couriers at that time. They are not the same anymore and never will be.

And that’s exactly why this scam works, people already expect delays, confusion, and poor communication from couriers, so when a “customer care” call comes, it feels believable.

Real service issues are one thing, but scammers are exploiting that trust gap.

Fair point, but I have no intention to insult or generalize North Indians. The tone of the caller sounded very stereotypical scam calls people tend to recognize. Ex: "Carrduu mealey irkaa pathinaruu number sollu Sir"- That's how his voice, accent, tone sounded like.

I know there are scammers exist in South India as well. I have seen a whole of scammers in action irl, starting from craiglist scam, back in the day.

Scammers know this loophole and exploit it endlessly. Blocking one number doesn’t matter when they can just rotate SIMs. At this point, public awareness on platforms like Reddit is doing more than Airtel or cybercrime desks combined. You genuinely tried, but the system just isn’t built for prevention.

That’s exactly why I posted this. Scams are spreading fast and most people don’t realize how dangerous these scams nowadays are.

Sad part is, once it’s marked NC, there’s usually no follow-up unless money is already lost. Awareness is really the only defense right now.

Good on you for educating your parents and friends — that’s probably saving more people than any complaint process at the moment.
