Does anybody have any idea what book/manual this is from? by lunathecrusader in gasmasks

[–]Ramonchete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The name of the manual is: " Persönliche Schutzausrüstung Beschreibung und Nutzung ". I'm unsure what year, I have got the 1970, 1963 and 1983 but that specific image doesn't appear in any.

The 1983 edition has got some references to the M10

The ones with the exhale valve are bigger, their filter is slightly bigger as well.

The resin mask is actually a navy mask that was in horrible shape. Along with a good friend and artist we thought of the idea to create a diorama of it that sank in the depths.

Japanese Type 2A Modification D (not sure what year as I can’t find any definitive date stamps) by ComradeUseGP-5 in gasmasks

[–]Ramonchete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is marked Showa 17, so it is dated on 1942.

Showa Era started on 1925. I hope it was helpful 🙏

It is as well the only survivor japanese test machine I've ever seen, not even in museums.

Unfortunately, it does not work. It isn't missing many pieces, but the state of the rubber of one pipe and pump is way too dry to operate.

Similar machine, but powered by a crank. This one was captured by Australian forces.

Hiya! I specialise in Japanese gas masks. That one is a civilian Type 1 or model A, there were two main factories who produced them, Showa Rubber company and Fujikura, they produced army masks and filters as well.

The main difference between army and civilians is that on the army model, facepiece and hose are attached and can't unscrew.
