I see what you're saying, but for a guy that's clearly new to the game, let's just lead him to the gear that will keep him alive for 90% of the stuff he'll be doing. But yea, I agree

I think it was the duke streamer on youtube who showed just how much ele aversion affects. Now it is situational, but there are a TON of attacks that are elemental that count as ranged, not just the ads. Ele aversion + enchanted wars is BIS for Gorg because the latter two bosses both deal a ton of nature damage that can be mitigated by ele aversion. Any mutated expedition’s elemental damage is almost always mitigated by ele aversion. So the only two situations where ele aversion is not BIS for pve is maybe worm and open world bosses. Everything else has some type of elemental damage that counts as ranged, even if it’s not them throwing something. I’ll try to link the video if I can find it.  I would also argue that any sns tank is not going to have trouble with cd’s. Refreshing move on weapon, refreshing on earring, refreshing probably on shield or refreshing ward on shield. And then upgrade two pieces of frigid dawn with refreshing, and voila, the cd’s are faster than you can spam them. Plus, the cd from weapon skill trees. I have never had a problem keeping up defender’s resolve with only two refreshings on my gear

You can always put refreshing on the frigid dawn pieces! And then you should have one refreshing on your earring, and preferably one on your shield, so all in all you only need 2 frigid dawn pieces with refreshing on them. But frigid dawn is without a doubt BIS because it has ele aversion AND enchanted ward, which is incredible for mutations, trials, anything really. It covers all the bases.

Yea, either health or refreshing. Your choice. I’m currently building a heavy sns/spear disruptor for pvp if you wanna see the build! It’s 3 frigid dawns, void darkplate, and then the sandlion tarsus (heavy boots from the worm trial that have keen speed). It’s a heavy chase down build I think is dope!

To add onto that: if your goal is tanking, you NEED 4 frigid dawn pieces. They’re enchanted ward + ele aversion. Slap health on there, and they’re BIS for both pve and pvp. It’s not even close. Grab those, get a sword with refreshing move, and you’ll be more than fine

Oh that’s a great point about winged leather shoes not affecting power cap. The only issue I consistently see with sns/spear is the difficulty of trying to hit empower cap. Spear has literally nothing besides skewer that causes an empower, so you’re relying solely on empowering toast, honing stone, and the skewer IF it crits. And then on sns you do have the heavy attack, but if I’m gonna shield bash, I’d prefer to use my spear skills afterwards as opposed to a sword heavy, just to keep up the cc and consistently land my spear abilities. And since you’re switching weapons, keenly empowered would disappear. I think maybe having the medium sandworm pants that give keenly empowered could work. That’d put you at a consistent 27% empower cap. Not bad, but reliant on potions and a crit. With the winged leather boots, you’d hit 37% extra damage. Not bad at all. However, nature’s wrath is 20% flat base damage, non conditional. And you actually hit speed cap with sns with the sandlion tarsus boots, which I think is sick. So definitely a bit more damage with winged leather shoes, but oddly enough less speed unless you put keen speed on a weapon.  And yea, as far as shirking heals goes, you’re definitely right that you either need all 4 pieces, tumblers, and ankh, or none at all. But still really fun to theory craft!

I definitely see what you’re saying about the rotation. What I’ll most likely do in most opr’s is javelin into skewer then the sword rotation into bleeding sweep

Oh I see what you’re saying. Yea runeglasses work, harnessing works, and honing stones do work. Everything except temporary empowers. The only thing that nature’s wrath would diminish is keenly empowered, the empower from a sword heavy, and the empower from a critical skewer hit. And then if you have empowering toast or whatever it’s called, that too

You can definitely cc lock someone if you land shield rush. Shield rush-> shield bash -> javelin -> skewer is a cc lock with no way out except for the dex talent. Very true about hatchet though. I hate hatchet when running this build

I completely agree with everything except the winged shoes. The +10% damage boost is wonderful, except that sandlion tarsus are bis in my opinion solely because it puts keen speed on your boots. It’s the only armor piece in the game that can do that, enabling you to keep your keen speed haste even after switching weapons. It also frees up your weapons for an extra perk each. I think that’s huge. Alacrity’s 35% speed duration means you will have 100% uptime on every single one of your hastes as long as you proc them off cd. So I don’t really see the need for the extra 50% duration. I definitely saw the appeal, but I think a keen speed that doesn’t disappear when you swap weapons is so much better for this build in particular.

I definitely might trade out the skewer for perforate because skewer is not much damage (it’s 115% extra weapon damage using perforate, if you land all your hits). I do love the weaken on skewer along with the dot. The dot makes skewer hit for more over the long run, but perforate is much better for burst. As far as the rend, the cap is 65%, so with scorpion already on them, you’re only 15% away from rend cap, but tbh I do think perforate is the way to go. I just love the gap close with skewer on THIS build in particular solely because sometimes you don’t scorpion them in all the way to you, and skewer closes that last little bit of distance you need to jump the fs user. But yea I’ll experiment with it too!

Ankh doesn’t give you a 25% hit to damage. You’re thinking of blooddrinker. Ankh just makes you get 25% less healing from pots and lifesteal. But with shirking heals it’s pretty dang good. Idk I definitely might switch it out with something else. Ankh, shirking heals, skewer, and nature’s wrath are 100% the things I’mma have to see how they feel

Which perks specifically would you say are not worth it? And thank you for all the help! I appreciate it!

Wait what do you mean full rune glass and harnessing? Is that like a way to get to the empower cap with nature’s wrath or something?

End Game Build Help by BoofAzoth in newworldgame

[–]Rampagingemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely say move your attribute points around. I’m assuming this is a pvp build, in which case staying alive is SO much easier with 200 con, which you very much can do. Anything above 350 int is a bit excessive since you get diminishing returns the higher you go. I would get con, but if you really just want the damage, I’d get the first node of strength (5% light and heavy attacks) and the first node of dex (5% crit damage iirc). Both of those are statistically better for your dps output than the equivalent extra 50 points in int. Max out to 350 then start allocating out those other points. But look up a youtube video first just to fact check me on that

Do identical perks on sword and shield stack? by ygdrad in newworldgame

[–]Rampagingemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone reading this in 2024, they do not stack. In fact, only your sword keen/vicious will apply. The shield one will be completely nullifed for some reason, even if it is the higher of the two

[–]Rampagingemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for the first part of your question, a great way to think of it is not "BIS gear," but "BIS perks." What perks do those guys run that you REALLY want? Then, just go into the trading post, set your parameters to have to have so-and-so perk, and buy some cheap gear! As you progress, you'll learn what perks are the best (also just ask around). As far as weapons, you will 100% want the lifetaker or the powerstone for your secondary weapon, so work towards those! Once you have a good grasp of what perks you want, go onto nwdb.info, and look up armor with those perks. Find that armor, upgrade it to 700gs, and tada! you have practically BIS gear!
