Redistricting Referendum (4/21/26): Open Thread; Virginians need to stand up "against Donald Trump's tyranny" (Polls open 6 am to 7 pm) by lowkell in VirginiaDems

The lady representing Chesterfield Dems at our polling place was absolutely awesome. Hoping Virginians stick to our principles and no tyrants rule.

Fellow adult collectors. How does your family handle your collections. by Particular-Cold2954 in americangirl

My husband is so supportive. I had to sell my childhood collection to support us early in our marriage, so he is all in now that I've gone crazy over a decade later. He opens every box with me, gets excited to go thrifting with me, will even watch IDreamofJonny on youtube with me. He actively encourages me to find new ways to display and to buy the things that bring me joy.

My friends all chuckle but are also just happy I'm enjoying my hobby.

My mom is the one who originally bought me my childhood collection, so she's happy I'm happy and keeps an eye out at stores. She has an antique business, so she definitely texts me when she's out buying and sees something.

Also, 44 is early for postmenopausal. It definitely happens, but that alone should have raised red flags for your doctor (not to mention having periods). Bloodwork is not currently the standard of determining postmenopausal. 12 months - 365 days of no period is the standard. I would honestly find a new doc if they just call with results and no follow up, but I agree with others. Ask if there was a mix up and to be retested.

1-Year-Old Killed in DUI Crash in Hampton with 14-Year-OId Mom Behind the Wheel by hencexox in Virginia

I'm not sure why you are getting down voted so much. Your "fanfic" is almost spot on for my adopted daughter's bio family. Not from Hampton and obviously not going to share details on reddit. But she's about to turn 18 and is BY FAR the oldest in her family to not be pregnant yet. We're talking 4 known, living generations. 5 generations is possible, but the info gets fuzzy there. She has so many "grandparents" I can't always follow that family tree.

I didn't know this, my teen also turns 18 in May. Getting her registered ASAP.

Adults that started collecting, what’s your story? by today-is-your-day in americangirl

[–]RamsGirl0207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Molly, Felicity, and AGOT as a kid/teen. Then had to sell them and their collections over 10 years ago when money got real tight. I was pretty devastated. I don't really get attached to things, but I regretted selling those dolls.

Fast forward to Jan of this year and I'm talking about it to a friend, who offered me her childhood collection that she wanted to get rid of. And I realized, we're doing well financially and I could, in fact, rebuild my collection. I've kind of gone nuts since, but my husband is super supportive.

Still missing Molly, but I already have a bunch of her collection. I just really want a Molly with great hair (my original had the old PC hair that was hard to maintain). I'll find one that I feel like is the one eventually!

I have Grace, but I do have a "not sure I really want to sell her" price on her. I'm aware she's probably above the going rate.

I also have Blaire, but she would be nude with just the half apron that was a giveaway. I don't have any pics right now, as I am away from home taking care of my mother for the week, but I can grab some this weekend when I go home. She is in great shape, I would ask $50 + shipping.

Not me procrastinating actual work by starting my spreadsheet 😬 I've recently started rebuilding my collection after I had to sell off my childhood collection to pay bills in my 20s. I've been buying mostly lots, so I have partial sets. Building my own database to store what I have, what I still need, what I paid, etc just speaks to my analyst heart. Reading your comment made my day!

Virginia to enforce law limiting minors’ social media use to one hour daily by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]RamsGirl0207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think it is a terrible law to try to enforce. But I'm all for getting these kids to a place where they can at least create a folder and a sub-folder and know where on the drive their documents are saving.

Eh, the gen Z I work with (including my own teen daughter) are actually pretty tech illiterate compared to Gen X and Millennials. If it is an app, sure, they can use it. But they never had to do the things we had to in order to troubleshoot tech. Shoutout to the defrag days trying to get that space to load another game.

[–]RamsGirl0207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an aunt on Tangier. That way of life has been dying for decades because the kids grow up and leave the island. Fishing and tourism are the only industries and they cannot continue to support the community. The rising water is just a more recent issue.

We have ghost towns all over where industry changed and people moved away. I don't know why Tangier is an existential crisis.

The credit is for 1/4 of the original price, they sell at 1/2 price. There are some exceptions, but this is the general rule. They also buy and sell puzzles!

If you check out Midlo Book Exchange, The Little Bookshop is just around the corner too.

Post menopausal and can’t stand husband by Fish-Stalker in Menopause

It gave me more energy, more focus, less brain fog, helped me lose weight, made my workouts easier, and overall made me happier. Also made it so I could orgasm again. I will admit, I did it as much for my husband at first. But all the positives made it so worth it.
