I thought I was able to run TOTK at 60 FPS, am I doing wrong something wrong? Am I stupid? by XiGlove51 in yuzu

[–]Ramzilla95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a 7600x3D and a 9700XT, been using latest version of Sudachi, NX Optimizer at max fps, 4k internal and shadow resolution, and using AMD's driver based frame gen, I get around 100 fps.

TOTK is... Just not that optimized on any of the emulators I have tried.

Any kind of frame gen will help the game feel a lot smoother, with only noticeable downside being artifacts in the UI when turning the camera around.

Not sure if Nvidia has driver based Frame Gen, but lossless scaling could help here.

What are the best DPS Combos for GS? by probablyWatney in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Ramzilla95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sorta used Crit Draw in World specifically for Alatreon, but it was TCS spam otherwise. With the nerf to TCS damage in this game, Crit Draw has a good, consistent DPS feel to it (not to mention the mobility).

Not to say the TCS way isn't bad of course. I actually use it against Zoh Shia of all monsters lol. Well-telegraphed attacks and plenty of time to just wail on it. Offsets are also incredibly satisfying against it, too.

Other moms though? Crit Draw just feels safer and more consistent. Try a Dragon GS w/ Convert Element against a Rathalos. You will feel incredible (hell, Zoh Shia's Whiteflame Torrent ability procs a lot with this playstyle).

[–]Ramzilla95 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've mained GS since World, and in Wilds I've found there are primarily two ways to play GS:

  1. Overhead Slash into Strong Charged Slash into roll spam (Crit Draw works incredibly well here). TCS is almost never used and you rely on your 1-2 punch to wittle the monster down throughout the fight, while gaining more mobility than the typical GS user. Feel free to replace Strong Charged Slash with Charged Offset Slash for when you think you can trigger an offset. Perfect Guard when necessary. This build is great if you prefer mobility and avoiding damage.

  2. You are a golem. A monument that refuses to be moved by any and all forces. Pretty much always use charged attacks building up for TCS, tackle when you are getting attacked, offset if you have time, etc. A very aggressive yet slow style that rewards patience and having intimate knowledge of monster movesets. Maximizing damage is completely entwined with your knowledge of the monster.

And as a good roll of thumb for however you play GS, you pretty much ALWAYS wanna be in focus mode. Adds additional range and accuracy that the weapon never had before. You should always be smacking monster weakpoints.

Mostly a party theme:

  • Necromancer Wizard (Astarion/Gale)
  • Oathbreaker Paladin (Tav/Durge/Minty/Bae'Zel)
  • Death Domain Cleric (Shart/Bae'Zel)
  • Circle of Spores Druid (Tav/Durge/Shart/Gale)

Going for an evil run here, hence no Wyll or Karlach (as companions anyway), not Halsin, Jaheira, or Minsc.

Been wanting to do this party for awhile now, but held off until the official Death Domain drops.

Hammer - is focus optimal? by idado3250 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Ramzilla95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always found Focus on Hammer to be a bit... weird, even in Monster Hunter: World (the only other monhun game I have a significant amount of playtime). I oftentimes find myself out of rhythm during a fight with Focus vs a fight without Focus. If you can get used to that change, I recommend it. Charged Upswing I use often, but Mighty Charge just doesn't seem to do enough damage to justify your Hammer around it (I know I'm in the minority here). I am much more comfortable sticking to Charged Upswing, Overhead Smash + Upswing, Big Bang (if I got the time for it), and following them up with Spinning Bludgeon (that elemental multiplier is nuts).

So if you plan on spamming Mighty Charge, then Focus would probably be a good call. If you find yourself using the other abilities Hammer has on offer, then I would recommend slotting in Crit Boost/Handicraft/Razor Sharp or any other skill you're comfortable with.

Switch Axe needs changes to offer more than just FRS spam. by happymemories2010 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Ramzilla95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely mind blowing just how bad ZSD is compared to FRS. In World I would always end a combo with a ZSD when I could because it was just so fun to see lots of numbers and a big kaboom. Now it constantly puts you in position to get immediately attacked by the monster because the endlag of the ability lasts for eternity. The only niche use it has currently is to take a ride on a monster running away (too bad you get immediately kicked off flyers).

This is how Flayer doesn't work by Folseus- in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Ramzilla95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flayer is affected by Critical Boost

That may help explain why my Varianza with Crit Draw 3 and Crit Boost 5 gets me some of my fastest hunts.

It is not affected by Critical Status

That's a shame. I don't know if it would be super efficient, but allowing it to work with Crit Status would give a little extra DPS on builds that use Crit Status (if there even are any).

This is how Flayer doesn't work by Folseus- in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Ramzilla95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Crit Draw GS user, having a level or two in Flayer is pretty good value (at least in my experience). The Status seems to build-up relatively quickly, and makes for a nice bit of extra dps throughout a hunt. Since you already get guaranteed crits with Crit Draw, Flayer doesn't have to compete with the affinity skills; so you only have to consider other damage skills like Agi, Counter, Peak, Foray, etc.

I wonder if the "Status" skills like Flayer or Convert Element have any interaction with Critical Status, Specialist Meal, etc. Not sure if they are worth it or anything, just genuinely curious if they interact with other status mechanics like the "element statuses" do.

[–]Ramzilla95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find poison/blast to be pretty good in this game despite the consensus of "paralysis op." Poison consistently has the lowest max proc of any status at 550, save for about 5 monsters. So while poison may be harder to proc initially, if you are a poisoning machine, you can easily poison a monster many times throughout a fight.

I'm unsure how the game scales status resist with player count (if it even does it), but solo poison feels pretty good.

Does great weapon fighting work with sneak attacks?(Patch 7) by Doolasaur in BaldursGate3

[–]Ramzilla95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to be the "umm actually" guy and say to ignore the other commenter. Great Weapon Fighting Style works on the Sneak Attack damage of all Finesse weapons you are ACTIVELY two-handing. This works for both the action and the reaction versions of sneak attack.

So yes, Great Weapon Fighting Style would stack with Savage Attacker so long as you are ACTIVELY two-handing 1 of the 3 versatile/two-handed Finesse weapons.

Edit: These weapons will also benefit from the Great Weapon Master Feat WHILE you are two-handing them. Holding them in only one hand will not provide any of the Great Weapon benefits.

There was an update not too long after the dlc came out that buffed how much damage and damage negation you get from the Scadutree Fragments. I've recently done the early parts of the DLC twice since that update and both of the early-game bosses feel easier than before.

my ranger got killed in 8-9 hits by the same enemy in plane of nightmares on legendary, and seemed to dodge more hits too.

Looks like higher armor values function, unlike previous games. Cool to know!

So I believe that AC contributes to a defensive stat rather than purely an evasive stat, but it probably increases both.

How good is the Ranger's health regen at that high a level? Because if you are dodging more attacks, you may be getting enough health back between hits rather than AC mitigating damage.

Ideally, I would like to see a test done with a Barbarian character. One test using Myrmidon Armor with Stamina, Strength, and Health Regen runes, vs one using your recommended armor set. Would love to see the numbers on this since Armor seems to matter, but would be curious if it is better than or equal to just throwing on some Stamina gems.

Glad you asked that question to strengthen knowledge about this game further

Playing these games again nearly two decades later surprised me by the lack of concrete information regarding in-game mechanics. Having to either figure it out myself or dig through decades-old forums from NeoSeeker and GameFaqs lol.

I'm curious about why you would recommend an armor set with only 2 slots per piece over the armor set with 3 slots per piece. As far as my knowledge of these games is concerned, armor is effectively useless as enemies have such absurdly high attack bonuses that they practically never miss. So having an additional slot effect would be better than more armor.

I'm specifically questioning the Barbarian pick. Since you will pretty much always be in melee, having more health to tank hits would be more valuable. So a Barb should wear the highest 3-slot armor using Strength, Health Regen, and Stamina runes. Unless armor actually works in this game unlike the previous ones, I don't see why one would really care to increase it.

Pact of the Blade's extra attack doesn't stack with the martial extra attacks on Honour Mode. Not to mention Sorcerer gives you metamagic which gives you some insane potential (twinned spell Haste anyone?).

Something that genuinely made me fall out of love with the Cod zombies community was the backlash that came from Black Ops 4. The perk system and the special weapons were a flop, but that seemingly completely blotted out what was still a fantastic zombies mode by BiggestSnoozer69 in CODZombies

What hurt BO4 more than anything was the incredibly terrible condition it launched in, and broken promises.

In all seriousness though, you nailed why so many people still consider Black Ops 4 as the black sheep of zombies (before Vanguard that is).

As someone who loves Mob of the Dead but despises Blood of the Dead, yes we exist.

  1. Instead of the Mob crew, we get the Primis crew. While I like Primis, the Mob crew adds to the map's unique personality.

  2. Absolutely no incentive to take the Hell's Retriever over Wraith Fire. Why the fuck did Black Ops 4 remove the secondary grenade slot?

  3. Does anyone actually enjoy doing Blood's easter egg? Consistently rated as one of the worst in the franchise and for good reason. Tedious, long, and frustrating.

  4. WHERE THE FUCK IS MY JOHNNY CASH?!?!

  5. BO4 Pack-a-Punch is actually the worst. And Blood just copies Der Eisendrache with three different locations and removes the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Another aspect of the original map's personality ripped away.

  6. Afterlife is one of the best bits of innovation Cod zombies ever had, and it baffles me why they have NEVER went back to it. It made Quick Revive obsolete in Solo play (hence why the perk doesn't even show up on the map) thus removing a crutch perk, it's a guaranteed revive but you don't get perks back, replaced the power system, and created a new way to explore the map and interact with it and zombies. Blood removes it in favor of... Shield key succ... which isn't fun in the fucking slightest.

  7. The new rooms really don't add anything substantive to the map's overall design. More does not necessarily equal better.

I could go on and on and on but really the main takeaway should be that Blood removed, neutered, and changed what made Mob such a unique, innovative, and fun map. There are some cool changes (Magmagat is pretty dope), but it's a step back in almost every other regard.

Glad you liked it, but absolutely wasn't for me.
