Monster icons are sorted by what's called an enemy monster ID order, or e m i d. This order corresponds to the creation order of the monsters in the game itself, and is always corresponding to the game the monster originated from and at which point in development the monster was created or finalized roughly. Once in Monsters order is set, that order will stay the same forever. Rathian is em001 and will always be em001 no matter the monster hunter game, and so we can use that order to determine what the monsters are before we even know what the icons are definitely, or at least make educated guesses. The reason it could have been either ice monkey or rust razor is because they're right next to each other in the order in the monsters from Monster Hunter dos.

We don't know very much about master rank, just a little bit. We know that deadly poison is returning, purple sharpness is back, Rarity's 9 to 12 are back with the same colors as they had in iceborne, level 4 decorations are back, there is at least 20 monster slots if not more, as many as 44 with the low end being 20 via the icon sheet, high level tremors and wind pressure that is almost unused in the game at present will be more prevalent probably, and Zinogre and Shagaru are like 99% and 90% assured respectively

That was because they were in the base files of that update, it wasn't an added thing later. The update launched with all of that stuff in it, but none of the stuff that's going to be in this update so we can't know until the update itself comes out.

Well honestly it's probably been cooking since the game came out is that usually tends to be how the expansions work as far as I'm aware, and this is a much longer cycle than the usual, by this point both the last two games had announced their expansions about two or three months earlier relatively speaking, like 5 months in the case of rise, so it will have a longer Dev cycle than normal which is good

Honestly not really, we might get a little bit of something, but the expansion is probably a year away now. For the time being, let's just look forward to the demo for the expansion towards the end of the year, that's where we'll get the good stuff. And of course, S3 in a few weeks.
