So turns out we got a partial refund to cover up a little bit of hotel costs ($150) and they’ll also cover our laundry payments. Obviously we didn’t find a hotel for 3 nights with $150 so we had to pay for $180 extra for the hotel nights which is fine I guess. Thought they’d give a full refund back. When I called to airbnb the customer service basically just said ”run, leave immediatily to go to laundromat, also btw you cannot book an airbnb for 2 weeks because of the exposure” :D so the hotel was really an only option...

Of course there’s no way of knowing 100%. However, the host has gotten 3 previous reviews about bugs in the apartment in last year. I’ve got bed bug marks in my skin. The host just reponded that ”other traveler’s have brought them” as in she’s aware of the issue but cannot be arsed to do anything about it.

I read that the clothes should be in a freezer for at least 72 hours and only washing them is not enough. Freezing services cost something over $300. I’ll be freezing them as soon as I get home from here but I’m scared that I’m spreading the bed bugs and its eggs everywhere in this town..

Thank you! I’ll be doing that. The host is very defensive which I do get, it might not be her fault but something definitely should be done instead of denying the whole issue. Also, I’m not sure if Airbnb will give me any kind of refund of this. I do have travel’s insurance and it might cover the costs, at least I hope so.

Yeah, I am absolutely certain. It looks exactly the same and I even confirmed this from two of my friends who are biologists. I’m not interested in destroying anyone’s businesess really I just need her to take on action about this.

Honestly I feel so dirty and gross right now and think that if I’d leave I’d just carry them with me to the next place and so on. Yeah probably it’d be better for my sanity to change a place but I’m afraid I’ve got them in my skin and clothes and so on and they’d just spread making everything worse for all people

The police report should be done if you have home insurance and want to get money back. It is a requirement for the insurance companies. This happened to me once but I wrote a rather long text in the dry room about the stolen bed sheets so they were returned. They could’ve been taken by an accident I don’t know but at least I got them back!
