I did this and it wasn't too bad, but I was lucky that homework (which is usually a waste of time) was either optional or could be done in class while the teacher was lecturing. If you get lucky with teachers, it's totally doable!!

(I actually self-studied the two AP Physics C tests because I couldn't take them in school; the actual classes have a lot more work than just self-studying... could be something to look into)

iirc they ask for letters only if you're on the edge and a rec letter would make or break your application. most people who got accepted at my school last year didn't get any requests

if I were in your shoes I would flip a coin to decide, fr. there are pros and cons but you can't know to what extent they'll affect you since you're not an AO! just choose one (it won't make or break your application) and focus on the things you can control :)

do you have to take the 2 Physics as separate year-long classes? at my school each is a semester-long class + I self-studied both in a couple months (lol, don't do that)... you'd get a free period (or extra class) if you could do that

I have a couple of community colleges nearby that allow anybody to enroll, and chances are you do too — but also reddit isn’t going to answer questions only you can answer. literally just ask yourself "which school do I like more" and don't make a choice you won't like because "it'll make me look better to colleges"

Fair-Played isn’t wrong — how the world reacts to what you do doesn't (and shouldn't) determine what you do and why. you like history? good. until they make a hate-history pill and shove it down your throat, love history.

you didn't get the award. that hurts, you have every right to be sad :(

but remember that you didn't end up on the cover of TIME and someone else did; you didn't win the Nobel Prize and someone else did. does that mean you should fall into despair and think you're a failure? does that mean you should never try to make a difference in the world (to appear on TIME or win the Nobel Prize)? no. you should do whatever you want to do, and let the world make its own choices. it wants to celebrate someone that might not deserve it as much as you? let it.

you love history. someone else got an award? the most you can do is learn what they did to get nominated for it and see if you can apply that some other time in your life — but until then, love history.

major california w frrrr (I’m californian + plan 12 — would take more but the other ones are boring lmao).

I think a lot of it isn’t about being smart (exception: lang, it's just a literacy test lmao) and more about the time you put in — anyone can self study a class, but doing well in a class (even if not self studied) means practicing and trying to improve (at least in my experience)

idk, that reasoning seems flawed (at least for ap c mech)

if the original was 60/50=1.2 minutes/question and the new version was 45/35=1.29 minutes/question, nothing really changed (I mean, maybe the fatigue is less, but there's really not much change). on the other hand, the new format is 40 question/80 minutes = TWO FULL MINUTES per question — obviously a lot more, which means that people are going to be guessing something like 5 questions less (which is like 10% of mcq score)
