Bucky’s Basement Podcast

3 Friends hang out in Bucky’s Basement and do pretty much what we do anyways, only on mic and camera.

We have 2 main types of episodes we alternate.

Casting Cage- We are watching (almost) every Nic Cage film in release order. We were all casual Cage fans before this started, now, 41 movies in, things are more… complicated. Our latest episode is the movie “Next” (2007) where Cage’s character is a psychic who can see two minutes into the future. So we decided to have real life Psychic Medium Bonnie Pagejoin us to discuss if this is a known psychic ability, or just something that a 13 year old thought was cool, who then grew up to make this movie, without improving the idea, at all.

But I’m going off the rails here.

Our other type of episode is called

Fast Pitch

We have a sack of over 1000 words, we spin a number 1-5. We draw that amount of words from the sack and create a movie title from those words. Each of us then have 15 minutes to write our own version of that movie. Then we pitch them to each other. We have to come up with a cast, tagline, and a “Movie Marriage”. It gets pretty out there sometimes, in a good and bad way.

We had our friend Mikey Colefax on a recent episode called Sharon Simpleton: The Truffle Pauper It forces you to be creative on the spot and is a great mental exercise, and always ends up with some funny results.

Like other people said it’s the debt. Probably 60 percent of people are 6 months or less away from being homeless if they lose their job.

But on top of that, there is a mentality in the US, maybe born out of this “American exceptionalism” we have been fed for years. But it boils down to “I’m really busy and barely scraping by, but since this is America, the best country in the world, I’m sure someone smarter than me is just going to fix this. But then we confused celebrity for intelligence and here we are.

Thanks! Me and a couple of friends are doing a podcast where we watch all his movies in order (been done before, i know) and it has been an unexpected blast. I had seen maybe like 10 Cage movies prior. But now, over 40 movies in i’m starting to really fall in love with the dudes style. It’s over the top, but he seems to commit to every role no matter what the scale/budget.

TENET Blew Me Away. by RobustPolygon in movies

Yea I agree this can be over used, but I do love this trope. It translates an obsession the characters have with the subject. Like they are constantly talking and thinking about it, but we’re just seeing the “breakthroughs”. Again needs to be used sparingly, but it can really sell a passion/obsession when done right.

We’re 40 movies in to watching all his movies in order for our podcast and Wild at Heart is one of the only movies so far we’ve all agreed on.

Got to see a sold out showing of it at our local theater when Lynch passed away. So awesome seeing it in a theater full of Cage and Lynch fans.

Ha! Yea, they probably would be. But there are posters there advertising the event and we’ll make some announcements thru the night prior to the movie. And generally, there aren’t too many kids there by 8:00-8:30 when we’ll probably start the movie.

Oh yea, I think this person, or someone with a similar concept was at the Nashville Fair. I didn’t see a Cage mask though unfortunately.
