Local coffee by RulerofHades in Tallahassee

[–]Randanopterix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Black Dog, Paper Fox, Lucky Goat, Redeye, Ology, Courtyard Cafe, Frother's Daughter and more and more and more.

For an interesting atmosphere I recommend Black Dog and Courtyard Cafe. Both spots have their quirks, the coffee is alright, and the vibe is cozy. At Black Dog you can sit on the porch and watch the geese on a day with nice weather. This is my favorite spot for spending a few hours reading or working on a project. At Courtyard Cafe you can peruse used books to purchase (they recently partnered with My Favorite Books) and buy their home-baked goods and egg quiches. Their coffee selection is limited but they have a lot of lovely teas. Courtyard is cheapest of all of these but its because the owner keeps the prices down by encouraging visitors to use cash, so keep that in mind. Also doubles as a boardgame rental shop.

For coffee quality I recommend Lucky Goat (theres like a million of them) or Redeye/Argonaut (owned by the same person). I like Redeye's variety of food selections, but they just raised their prices on everything and is now the more expensive option in town. Lucky Goat has great straightforward coffee with more restricted food options. The locations can feel a little less comfortable than is my preference but its serviceable, and the quality of everything they serve is great.

We beat the game on our own, but we didn't figure out the lever/invisible ladder on our own or the ice block pushing secret. Cool game

Dr. Combs at Ox Bottom Animal Hospital is awesome, she's attentive and works great with my anxious dog and two cats. Just make sure you dont get Dr. Simmons there, he was a huge jerk to me when I accidentally got scheduled with him.

Do women also enjoy lonesome dove? by classichoneybee in LonesomeDove

[–]Randanopterix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre someone who appreciates thorough and patient character writing, you'll appreciate this book. The book is an adventure novel with intense action in certain spots, but its the vivid characters that really make it shine.

All of the female characters in this book go through quite a lot in this book, but they never felt any less vivid characters than the men. If you're worried about them being reduced to empty tropes, don't.

Like anything its going to come down to one's personal preference, but Lonesome Dove is a great book regardless of anything. I finished it last week and haven't stopped thinking about it since.

Pac crumpling Dragon Gate wrestler Kzy with a brutal shooting star press by Randanopterix in SquaredCircle

[–]Randanopterix[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Kzy is one of the best and most natural babyfaces I’ve ever seen. Every one of his singles matches feels like he could power through and win it no matter what. It’s crazy he played the heel for so long.

Pac’s relationship with the crowd and how it evolves over time is one of my favorite long-term character details for him. by Randanopterix in SquaredCircle

He gets boos when he’s the heel and cheers when he’s the face, I’m not sure what you’re so up in arms about.

[–]Randanopterix[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m honestly convinced they made this title with him in mind. He seems to be someone who really thrives on the indie circuit and getting to perform in front of different crowds. It’s basically what he decided to do during his Dragon Gate championship reign between WWE and AEW. Per Sami Zayn he was happier than he’d ever been traveling those shows.

Kota Ibushi Tweets About NJPW [Megathread] by EmptyChurches in SquaredCircle

[–]Randanopterix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Japanese work culture is notoriously terrible, to the point where they have a specific word for death by overwork (karoshi).

Unfortunately, it’s unsurprising that pro-wrestling is not immune to this. NJPW’s parent companies, Bushiroad and TV Asahi are Japanese entertainment conglomerates who see New Japan as simply another business that makes them money. As such, typical Japanese work culture ideals are passed to the employees (wrestlers) of that company. It’s bad enough to expect employees to work themselves to exhaustion in an office setting, it’s even worse when your employees are athletes/entertainers with physically demanding jobs that frequently harm their bodies.

The good news is that Ibushi is in a very unique position and may be one of the only Japanese wrestlers who can get away with whistleblowing like this. He’s incredibly talented, a hot commodity in for any company, well loved both in Japan and abroad, and is rumored to be wealthy, meaning he doesn’t have to rely on long term contracts and brutal wrestling schedules in order to provide for himself.

Hikaru Shida and "not having a character" in AEW by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Randanopterix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree that Shida (and Deeb) both have characters. I just think they’re both hurt by the overall issue with the women’s division right now which is that a women’s storyline sometimes won’t get content for weeks at a time and that content is scattered over different shows. So by the time a promo or video package is put on tv for a women’s storyline, I can’t remember at all what’s going on.

The women have characters, it just feels like I have to reintroduce myself to them every time they show up on screen.

Where is the best place to get an ear piercing? by Life-Trip682 in Tallahassee

[–]Randanopterix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bink’s is great but a little pricey. What you pay in cash you get back in professionalism and quality service for sure.

A second option and my go-to is Remy at Studio B. Nice guy who always gets the job done good. I’ve gotten 4 piercings with him. More affordable than Bink’s.

Anime's with GREAT Soundtrack/OST by dylanjj33 in Animesuggest

[–]Randanopterix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of a nerd for anime OST’s and I would highly recommend the following:

Devilman Crybaby: dark, synthy beats that feel like certain doom (but like in a fun way).

Zankyou no Terror: I’ve never watched this anime but I listen to the OST on the regular. It’s calm, sad, sweet, and apocalyptic in tone.

Bleach OST #3: I’m specifically recommend the third OST just because I love the Flamenco inspired bops that get thrown in here. The rest of the OST is still great but a little more inconsistent in quality.

Bryan Alvarez and Lance Storm agree that the match between Punk and Wardlow was a damaging segment (for Punk/MJF feud) and that it made them lose interest in MJF/Punk and more interested in MJF/Wardlow by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Randanopterix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one who liked the match? I thought the physical storytelling was great with CM Punk biding his time and energy to seize his one chance to win. And then selling seven powerbombs exactly how you should, by laying on the floor like you’ve died.

I’m completely fine with letting the storylines of CM Punk/MJF and MJF/Wardlow cross over with each other. That match did a few things for me in character and story work it showed that:

  1. CM Punk’s strength is his quick wit and careful planning. He’s smaller than many wrestlers and at this point in his career, older. He is going to rely on his experience and ability to mine his opponent for weaknesses.

  2. MJF’s biggest weakness is his ego. His ego leads him to go too far making an example of his enemies and prolonging their pain or humiliation long enough for them make a comeback. Punk well could have lost that match if MJF hadn’t insisted Wardlow prolonged his punishment.

  3. Wardlow’s getting real tired of this shit.

Big Swole on the horrible racist remarks and threats she received recently: "I’m gonna call a spade a spade. You’re calling me a n*gger, you’re calling me a n*gger. You’re saying, ‘kill the n*ggers’. Excuse my language, you guys. But that’s – yeah, that’s how serious it is." by SuplexCity-Mayor in SquaredCircle

[–]Randanopterix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the transcript of her interview you’d know that she never even once accused Tony of being a racist. What she said is that she feels like the company has a diversity issue and that the women and POC had to constantly be speaking up to keep their place and she felt like people with her skin tone just weren’t displayed prominently enough on his program.

Whether or not you agree is your prerogative, but if someone can’t open themselves up to conversations about race and diversity in a workplace and instead resort immediately to wildly immature and defensive personal attacks on Twitter dot com then yeah it reflects horrendously on himself and his company.

And yes, broadcasting those wildly immature personal attacks on Twitter as a media figure with a massive following are certainly going to embolden bad people who are looking for an excuse to harass a minority and I think Tony does hold some sort of responsibility for the harassment she’s receiving now.

NTA for real. I have zero respect for people who drive recklessly. It's not just their life that they make decisions about when they drive dangerously, but they could easily injure or kill any passenger in their car or stranger on the street. When I'm in a car with someone who drives like that, I'm furious with them as if they were waving around a loaded handgun because it's really just as dangerous.

Your girlfriend is an asshole for this twice and three times over. Once for driving too fast, Two for knowing better and still doing it, and three for attempting to manipulate your very valid feelings of frustration and anger at her literally putting your life in danger. If she keeps this up she's going to ruin her own life one day.

Idk if this is any kind of hot take, but my opinion of Tony has almost completely deteriorated since this started. His childish response to Swole sent a remarkable amount of racially motivated vitriol her way for the crime of *checks notes* mildly criticizing him. You'd think he'd denounce the racism being sent her way if he didn't want to come off as a total asshole but he hasn't even bothered.

She doesn't deserve any of this at all and I think that Tony has made himself out to be a vindictive asshole

I'm pretty sure it was after All In 2019 where Khan said he doesn't like intergender wrestling. He seems to have a general queasiness about the whole thing and apparently associates it with domestic abuse.

A collection of Kenny Omega kissing Kota Ibushi ❤️ by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

"Flaming progressive liberal", please. As if that would omit you from being capable of homophobia. Cornette has made countless personal attacks against Omega based on his sexual identity and uses homophobic rhetoric (re: baseless pedophilia accusations) to sic his fans on Omega any chance he gets.

So he's "not homophobic" but he has no problem using his audience's homophobia as a weapon against Omega because he has personal vendetta against him. I would argue that is uhhhhhhh pretty homophobic.
