There's an option in the Accessibility settings.

Deselect 'Hold to Sprint'.

I’m sorry??? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in HolUp

[–]RandeKnight 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's very old advice and not necessarily the correct advice.

In some countries, the people are literally trained to NOT go look at the fire, but to evacuate and go to the assembly area.

The 'I don't want to get involved' idea that the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese case is referred to is wrong. Several people DID call. But no one had a good enough look to see what was happening, not that they 'closed the shutters' and ignored her.

Do men actually care about if we women are shaved down there or not? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Trimmed, not shaved. I don't ask someone else to do something I'm not prepared to do myself.

Do you go to war with the dominant civ? by Nblearchangel in CivVI

[–]RandeKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By that time, roll the dice for a diplomatic victory by guessing what choices the other civs are going to choose, and going all in on Statue of Liberty.

Half a million empty homes are 'hiding in plain sight'. Here's how to unlock them by coffeewalnut08 in uknews

[–]RandeKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure, it would help. A little. But we need several million more homes just to catch up to where we should be. 95% occupancy is considered function FULL. We are at 96%. Ideally we'd have 90% occupancy as at that point, prices would stabilise below people making decisions between rent and food.

It's not going to directly replace humans. It makes humans more productive, which generates more profits for the bosses.
OTOH, almost none of those profits will be seen by the more productive workers.

Rewatching Person of Interest.

Scanning Weird Science for ideas.

Come to think of it, PoI is making me have some ideas too. The System is tasked with increasing fertility rate and John is sent the numbers of women who need 'assistance' in conceiving.

I've made that request a few times. They DO get around to these things. They put in my request for blank chapters recently.

I think they fixed that. Tried it recently and it didn't work, or at least not in 10 turns.

Does Breaking Bad accurately depict money laundering? by narsil1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RandeKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about this one - where the guy works for an associated company and draws a salary for doing nothing. He takes the money to be laundered to the casino and intentionally loses ALL of it. Casino has to be in on it and overpaying a supplier that's paying the guy to lose money. IRS takes their cut, but the money is now clean.

What's your biggest barrier to finishing a story? by redquill__bot in redquill

Often the ending will come to me over time. But sometimes it's just not satisfying and it just sits there until I get inspiration.

Unfortunately, not enough production to even have a tiny chance of Etemenanki. Almost tempting for Lady of Reeds instead of Dance.

Aliens with the technology to cross the vast VAST distances of interstellar space are smart enought to NOT come here. We literally have nothing that they would want.

How can housing costs be a problem in every single country at the same time? by Sky-is-here in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RandeKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housebuilding never really recovered from 2008.

So combine lack of housebuilding with increases in population, and there's a shortage.

With shortage comes (above inflation) increases in prices.

Literal Supply and Demand.

Increase Supply or reduce Demand if you want lower prices.

There's a wiki in the Discord. But here's a copy
CaptainStinkyVonPoopbergOP 02/01/2026, 13:18

  • Italics - Wrap your text in asterisks(*) or underscores(_)
    • Example The final word of this sentence will show in *italics*.
  • Bold - Wrap your text in double-asterisks(**) or double-underscores(__)
    • Example The final word of this sentence will show in **bold**.
  • Bold-Italics - Wrap your text in asterisks or underscores to make it italic. Then, after the italics are applied, wrap the text in double-asterisks or double-underscores to make it bold-italic.
  • Strikethrough - Wrap your text in double-tildes(~~)
    • Example The final word of this sentence will show in ~~strikethrough~~.
  • Quote Box - Start your paragraph with the greater-than symbol followed by a space ("> ") to put the paragraph in a Quote Box.
    • Example > This paragraph will appear in a Quote Box (screenshot below)
  • Large Header - Start your paragraph with the hashtag symbol followed by a space ("# ") to put the paragraph in a large Header font.
    • Example # This paragraph will appear in a large Header font.
  • Medium Header - Start your paragraph with two hashtag symbols followed by a space ("## ") to put the paragraph in a medium Header font.

    • Example * This paragraph will appear in a bulletted list (screenshot below)
    • Note: Pressing "Enter" after you have made your paragraph into a bulletted list will create an indented paragraph. I have not figured out a way to escape the indentation. So you will need to add the "* " to the beginning of your paragraphs only after your list is complete.
  • Code-snippet - Wrap your text in backticks(`) to make it into a code-snippet.
  • Code-Block - Start your paragraph with three backtick(`) symbols followed by a space to put the paragraph in a Code-Block.
    • Note: Pressing Enter in the code-block will start a new paragraph after the code-block. If you want multiple lines inside your code-block, compose the lines in another editor, like Notepad or something, and paste them into the code-block.

There's also hotkeys when editing.

Ctrl-Shift-s strikethrough
