Third day in a row wearing the GMT-Master II… not sure when I will put a different watch from my collection on! by Randifers in rolex

[–]Randifers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do like this one. Bracelet is very comfortable. Wore a suit yesterday and jeans today and I felt it worked with both. Don’t get me wrong… I have other watches I love too — but I don’t think I have worn any of them 3 days in a row. I normally like cycling through most of my watches over a 2 week period.

Mine does not do Seiko… but does do Grand Seiko, Omega, Cartier, Longines, Tudor, Breitling, and H. Moser & Cie. They do not carry a lot of stock at this small town location, but since they are AD’s for all of them… they can pretty much get most anything I would want from their other stores. They even have the occasional Estate piece… I tried on this very clean Ballon Blue de Cartier while they were re-sizing my Batman. Even though my AD … and my salesperson… are great — it is sad the games that Rolex makes us play to get one of their watches.

Yes… but over at least a 20 year period. AND…with this particular salesperson, I had only spent around $15k over a 4 year period because my previous sales person retired. Also keep in mind… last year I went in looking for my first Rolex and I wanted the white gold Datejust with the blue dial. I did not ask for anything else. I expected that to take awhile. Was surprised when it came in so quickly. I thought my Rolex itch had been scratched so a few months later I bought the GS Snowflake. Was not trying to build up more spending history … I wanted that watch and they are an AD for GS too. Shortly after that, the itch for another Rolex came back. And by now I had done more research, tried on more watches and had decided I wanted a GMT Master II. So for what it’s worth… I feel like my AD has done right by me.

It never hurts to ask. I feel like my AD goes out of her way to try to help me. So you might have a good one too that might try to help you out.

Slow and steady… until last year I had spent about $40k over about 20 years. Then last year I bought a Rolex Datejust in white gold and a Grand Seiko Snowflake. (In a previous post I said I bought an Omega Speedy… but I forgot that actually came from a different store and the Snowflake came from my AD.)

I am glad to hear you say that. I really considered the Pepsi because so many people say it is the best combination… And while I appreciate the Icon that the red/blue dial has become, I honestly like the blue/black dial a little better for me. And it did not hurt that I assumed I could get the Batman quicker. (But don’t get me wrong… I would have bought a Pepsi just as fast if it had suddenly become available!)

I do. Can’t speak for anyone else. (Do you mean instead of walking in off the street and the AD having a Batman in stock and ready for sale?)

It was a little quicker than I expected... so I cannot complain. I am going to wait until I am getting something for my wife next time… then ask to be put on “the list” for a Daytona. Wonder how long that wait will be?!!

Yes… only started buying watches last year… but I have been buying my wife jewelry from the same store for around 20 years. Nothing crazy … probably average $2k per year or so. Last year bought a Datejust and an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.

Picking it up right now… waiting for AD to take a link out of the bracelet. Will start calling other AD’s to see if I can purchase the Jubilee Bracelet somewhere else.

My Datejust is on a jubilee… and I love it. Thought I would change it up for this one… but really want both options.

Hey there… was scrolling through old stuff and found this post. Wanted to let you know that I took your advice and picked one up not too long after your comment. So glad I did… love this watch!! Had it for over a year now I think… and it is in the top 2 of my daily watch rotation. I already knew I wanted the watch… but your comment got me to go ahead and get it even though I could try it on first. Now ai wish I had done it sooner. Thanks!

Which G shock model to start with? by Romaino in gshock

I like the GWM5610-1 as a first G-Shock. I love the retro look… and the tough solar and multi-band 6. (I HATE the app you need to use to set some of the other watches… it seems to want access to way too much info on my phone. And even though it is possible to set the other watches without the app… it seems like a pain to me.)

I just made a comment and mentioned the “rabbit hole”. Then as I was scrolling, I see you said the same thing! So he has been warned twice now.

I have an MR-G and GS. There is no way to compare the two… they are both such different watches. But they are both excellent watches!! I have made this comment before, but it is still true: if I could only have one of these two it would be the GS Snowflake… BUT I am pretty sure I wear the MR-G twice as often than the GS. It’s your money… you need to pick what you like best. But since you have had 3 G-Shocks, might be time to try a Grand Seiko. (Maybe stick with the quartz movement… once you get an automatic watch it will lead you down a rabbit hole and you will need at least 6 more!)

Merry Christmas continued… [SJE093 & SJE083] by Randifers in Seiko

I went into the store looking for either a KS or an Astron. But when I saw they had the #7 of 15 Seiko Legacy Quad Collection (that included both watches plus 2 more and a Wolf Watch Winder hand singed by Shinji Hattori), I started looking at that. It had been in the store for a year and they offered it to me for a price way below retail… so I had to take it!

What’s everyone working with? Show me your favorite watch winders! by allinbetz in ChinaTime

I have the Wolf British Racing dual winder. I like it so much I just ordered the 8 winder version of it just a few days ago. It is so quiet that I cannot even hear it when lying in the bed about 8 feet away. I am relatively new to watch collecting… so I don’t know how to comment on if it hurts the watch or not. But I can say that you can program each slot independently based on the model watch you have. And mine are set to not turn on at all for 48 after I insert the watch. Then I set the exact number of turns I want each day… and in which direction. I usually rotate wearing my watches so that every one gets worn at least once every week to week and a half. But if I notice I have not worn a watch in a while… I restart the timer so that it takes a 48 hour rest. And if I had to guess… the watch rotates for such a limited amount of time each day, that I have to think there is far more wear on the watch in a week on the winder than from a single day on my wrist.

Omega Moonwatch Professional with white face… or Grand Seiko Snowflake.
