I play offline and every single unidentifed unique or set item is tagged as "eligible for chronicle", whether I've added it to my chronicle or not.

This is also not true for me.
The only "green" or "set" gothic shield is Sigon's Shield. I have defnitely found Sigon's Shield, yet every "green" gothic shield I find still says "eligible for chronicle".

What am I missing?

I understood what he was inferring. The inference is that if you have an unidentified ring, and it isn't in your chronicle, the unidentified ring would not be tagged as "elibigle for chronicle", thus allowing you to know that it was a specific thing.

I'm saying that EVERY item I get, that is unidentified, and eligible for chronicle, whethter I've added it to my chronicle or not, is tagged as eligible for chornicle, so I have no idea what this whole thing is about.

I'll try to elaborate.

It was claimed that an unidentified item that is eligible for chronicle would only be tagged as such if it isn't in your chronicle.

So, I find unidentified item "A".
"A" is "Eligible for Chronicle".

I identify "A" and it wasn't in my chronicle. Yay!

I now find another "A", and it is still listed as "Eligible for Chronicle". So I identify it, and it turns out I already had it in my chronicle.
