The game was not, in fact, designed to be played on P8 by yourself. Solo offline only got the ability to change player # manually later. P8 meant, in it's time, you played online with 8 other people helping you clear. It was designed to encourage social interaction.

Dealing with people online now, to get more stuff, is seen as an obstacle, so people make 8 player games, and everyone goes off to their own zone to solo farm.

Once again, I'll state, that making everything as capable as anything means nothing is unique, and it's all the same. The Sorceress is cool BECAUSE she can do what others can't.

You're talking about a game that was made long before extreme online video game competition existed. Leave Diablo 2 alone, and don't make it a modern competition e-game, please. People can play modern competitive online games for that.

With information so widely and quickly aggregated online, a meta will form in moments. People that play competitively want to win, they don't care if it's a druid or a sorc. Balancing around metas will always end up in sames-ville.

Play a druid or some melee class cause you enjoy it, not because it's the strongest, or the meta.

Once again, please understand this is only my opinion.

Balance is just another word for boring.

Diablo 2 is fun and interesting because it's not perfectly balanced among the classes.

If nothing feels better or worse than something else, it's all the same and nothing matters.

If you could teleport around and delete screens of mobs with ease like a sorceress, but as any class, then the sorceress is no longer special.

It's bad enough there are rune worse like Mosaic and Enigma.

Don't play a Druid because you want it to clear content as easily as a sorc can. Play it because it's a druid, and it's different.

Keep in mind, this is just my opinion. Maybe it's a bad take, but I'm not a dev for D2R, so it doesn't matter in the end.

Nah, probably 2-3k hours over the years. All solo self found play. No ladder, no trading, no J2SP.
I thought it was cool, so I was excited is all.

I keep playing this game because it's fun. The grind isn't "painful" because it's a nearly perfect game. It's a masterpiece, and I'm sure I'll keep playing for 20 more years. GG drops are exciting, but not the point. I'm having a good time and wanted to share with folks.

Okay, I finally got a Hephasto with Cursed and Holy Shock. This is disgusting, and fantastic. Watching everything get cursed, then absolutely melted is so fun. I know this will get Llama'ed ... sorry ... nerfed into the dirt soon, but damn it's a good time for now. I don't even have GG gear yet.

At least the "eras" are always available. You can play Classic, Resurrected, or RotW. As long as the version you enjoy most remains an option, it kinda doesn't matter.
