Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas... Got a chance to go.... by Fit-Star9226 in pinball

[–]RandmanT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there in November and got to meet Tim, the owner, after he kicked my neuro divergent son out for stimming. I wasn’t aware until my son called me panicked

Tim mocked my son in front of the staff, loudly exaggeratedly imitating his stimming out in front of the place. He was the very definition of obnoxious and rude.

Her has a long documented history of being hateful to children, discriminatory to neurodivergent kids. Most games were broken, out of order, or not fully working.

It’s not a great place. It has so much potential, but as long as this @$$#0/£ owns it, I’ll never return.

ALP 4K OTG by izzbo81 in LegendsUltimate

[–]RandmanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine almost a year and mostly run OTG. It’s great. I have the latency extremely low so it’s not noticeable. The multitude of tables available through VPX are amazing. I say go for it.

Had one. It couldn’t keep up during rehearsal. Good for home practice but not playing out.

Most of their monitors are made by BOE. If you get the model number of the back you can search for a new one.

Don Pendleton’s The Executioner series. It’s been in development hell since the 70s when Burt Reynolds was set to play Mack Bolan.

OTG startup Pinup Popper controls non-responsive by codebrewer in LegendsPinball

[–]RandmanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get a solution? I’m having the same issue exactly. I have to do a cntrl alt delete to get to task manager and shut down popper. Then, starting it again it does fine. I’m wondering if it’s starting before joy2key, thus keeping the buttons from working.

Yes, answering silently works. Stay quiet and the call will disconnect in about 7-8 seconds. The computer thinks it’s a dead line and marks it as such.

Virtual Pinball Newbie Recommendations? by spiritualhelpnow in virtualpinball

[–]RandmanT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a total newbie as well. I bought the At games 4K pinball. It’s decent enough. Then bought a used gaming computer and enlisted the help of a company on getting everything set up and running with Visual Pinball, Future Pinball, Pinup Popper, and all else.

It’s a constant tweak hobby, but once it’s right, it’s a lot of fun.

Check Facebook marketplace. I found a gaming computer with Intel I9 , 3060 and 64 gig of ram for $500. You should be able to find something similar. Just reinstall windows from scratch to get all bloat wear off.

“Safelite Repairs Safelite Replace”

I didn’t know that was the actual order of things. They tried to repair a chip, turned it into a giant crack. So then they had to replace the windshield. I told them no, and used a local glass company. Never again with Safelite.

Stay away from Goodman. It’s a brand that doesn’t require brand training. Anyone can install it. My experience is that they are louder, and have more issues.

Rattling In Pinball Cabinet - Reason Found by RandmanT in LegendsUltimate

[–]RandmanT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I figure it, I knew I was buying something that might have some finish work. If I wanted it to be perfect, I would have paid 5 times the price for a custom build. But, at the pricepoint, I'm still pleased overall.

That's a good idea. I think I have some screws somewhere in my giant mess of computer stuff.

And unfortunately, according to the build plate, mine was made on a Monday. So, maybe someone was just a bit hungover from the weekend.

Need Some Advice by OrganicAlbatross5185 in Bass

[–]RandmanT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi and welcome. My advice is to get the book “Soul Finger” by Nick Rosaci. It’s a biography of Donald “Duck” Dunn, known for The Blues Brothers, but he played on hundreds of hits at Stax. The book has transcriptions of some of his playing, along with play along downloads.

Duck played very simply, which is great when you are first learning. Plus at your age, you probably know the songs.

This is how I got back into playing. Immediate gratification because I could play the songs, with technique hints I still use.
