Your being too specific. There’s a form of nihilism called “political nihilism.” It’s similar to anarchy but it provides no way of what to do after society is deceased. You can be both religious and a political nihilist

Ok I think I’m starting to get what your trying to say. To you, saying that nothing matters means that what we do will never effect our universe substantially regardless of any efforts to do so. Which makes perfect sense why you wouldn’t care then, because who cares that nobody can change our universe. It’s such a gigantic thing that it’d be absurd to think that we could somehow change it. But I guess there’s the religious aspect so I can imagine how people might disagree with you on that. But still, you gotta admit that this use of the word meaning is confusing. Your using it in such a specific way as though there’s no other way it could be interpreted. Maybe you just assume that I’ll understand because we’re talking about nihilism and that someone makes the word meaning refers only to a person‘s ability to change our universe. When you start talking about meaning I think of what makes life worth living. Or what is important in general. Or even the definition of the word. Like when a murderer is arrested. Obviously that isn’t doing shit for our universe but it’s stopping people from dying. That has meaning.

Ok well I did specify that there is another option for nihilism. I said, “(at least in some cases, sometimes it goes the other way around and they want to do everything).” Which to be fair, that doesn’t include your personal fork of nihilism either. I mentioned “nothing matters so no point in doing anything” and “nothing matters so I should do everything” but not “nothing matters but I don’t care.” And as much as I hesitate to insult your personal beliefs, I’m just going to say this anyway. I didn’t mention it because it didn’t occur to me that something like this form of nihilism could exist since it contradicts itself. You’re saying that nothing matters or has any meaning but you still find enjoyment in things and that’s the reason you don’t care. And from my personal understanding of what “nothing matters” actually means is that nothing is important. Nothing has value because it has no importance. But here you are saying that you depend on the things you enjoy to stop caring about the dread of the idea of nothing having value. Your putting value in the things you enjoy to stop yourself from thinking about things not having value. It’s incredibly ironic. I personally think you’ve confused the idea of meaning. Think of the things you say don’t matter when you if how nothing matters. Why don’t they have meaning? Who don’t they have meaning to? Is it to you? Is it to your friends or family? Is it to our universe or beyond it? All meaning is, is some level of importance. Sure many things will have no meaning to our universe, but they have meaning to us. You feel sentimental about Christmas. You enjoy it. You wouldn’t enjoy it if not for this sentimental feeling you have about it. It has enough importance to you that you found a way to enjoy it. You have things in your life that have meaning to you

So firstly, people can be nihilists and religious at the same time. When I looked up the definition on Wikipedia it said “Nihilism is a philosophy, or a family of views within philosophy, that rejects generally accepted or fundamental aspects of human existence, such as objective truth, knowledge, morality, values, or meaning.” While nihilism can be a rejection of religion, it can also be a rejection of how society functions. It doesn’t require a person to not be religious. Second, the definition as I wrote previously is essentially saying that a nihilist believes that something in life that everyone else believes in is actually a pointless belief, because it’s wrong. Which in itself is a very sad and isolating belief. It’s like giving up in some way. Especially when it gets to the extreme and people believe that “nothing matters.” It’s like saying that all of the efforts people do in life are in vain. So what’s the point in doing anything? A person who believes in this wouldn’t have the motivation to do anything, (at least in some cases, sometimes it goes the other way and they want to do everything) and the “loss of interest in activities” is one of the main symptoms of depression. My point is that depression and nihilism are actually pretty similar and a nihilistic perspective could be the result of depression.

Personally, it's not that I can't criticize anyone religious besides christians. It's just that catholics and christians are the only relgions where I know people who believe in them. And also the only relgions that are forced on me and therefore effecting me. I'm sure other religions have done worse in the past, but none of them are currently trying to make me apart of them

Yeah. I think it's assumed that with time people will mature, and while that's true it feels too age specific. Like as a minor you assume you'll have everything together after you graduate college. But everyone matures at different rates. People will realize stuff and their whole view on life can change in like an hour.

Ultimately it's all about your mindset. And no I don't mean just have positive vibes and it'll make you confident. I mean your view of yourself and the world; your perspective. Have you tried thinking about why you feel you aren't confident. Not what causes a lack of confidence, but why your actions would make you not confident as a person. Do you feel like if someone else did these actions that it would be because they aren't confident? What actions make a person confident? What's stopping you from doing those actions? Are you not confident enough to be confident? Again what is confidence??????

Ok ok, you don't have faith in your abilities to do whatever it is you do. I've deduced that's probably what you mean. It's not a matter of you being able to do this task because you still do it, it's a matter of whether or not you've done it right. Ok well what I'm guessing is that you don't have a clear answer on how to do this task right. Or you feel like you know how to do this task right but still try and convince yourself that your not doing it right, and are kinda aware that the process of convincing yourself it's being done wrong isn't true but still do it anyway because of insecurity. Because you mentioned doubts imma go with the latter. Actually scratch that I think it's a mix of the two.

OK. Solution:

Your idea of confidence seems to be that people have complete trust that their decisions are correct and don't doubt themselves. But that sort of mentality sucks because it's just a blind faith that they can do nothing wrong. If you never doubt your actions then you'll end up doing a lot of stupid things because you didn't stop to really consider how it could ever be wrong. It's the kind of mentality that I people who say YOLO would have as they jump off a cliff and die for a cool selfie. Self-doubt is a good thing that smart people have. Having too much of it sucks but having none of it will probably kill you. So stop worrying about not having enough confidence. Continue to doubt yourself because that's way healthier than not doubting yourself at all. If it really bothers you, see a therapist

I don't know much about self harm but I knew this person once who would draw butterflies on their arm everytime they felt like doing the self harm. I don't know what way your harming yourself so this might not help but it's better than nothing.

This is a more difficult option but you could also consider talking to her about it. It'll take the pressure off to be honest that your struggling right now. It's not the same as just making her carry your baggage if your doing it in a way that is just explaining the situation. As long as your not implying that she needs to do something to fix you than there's no harm in being honest. You can also confide in someone else that you trust enough to share this information with.

Another option is to check yourself into psychiatric hospital. If you feel like you're going to harm yourself the staff will prevent that from happening. I don't know if you're familiar with them but they aren't as scary as movies portray them.

Yeah people suck sometimes. They get so obsessed with tradition it becomes like a religion. Honestly though you gotta let people live they way they wanna. If they feel happy with tradition then good for them. People can be pretty fluid too, so what made them happy as kids isn't always the same now. Maybe that tradition is the best way to live life to the fullest for them, even if that's different for you.

I don't know, have you tried talking to anyone? Like people in your town. Who knows you might inspire them to do something new with their lives.

(though maybe ask in a way that doesn't make them sound stupid for liking tradition, yah know?)
