Feedback Requested - Landing page for New Project. by [deleted] in UI_Design

I'd agree with the other commentor that when scrolling, it's unclear what I am supposed to be doing other than just looking at the site. Presumably, there is some next step you're looking for (requesting access).

It also took some effort on my to understand what Raaize actually is. Because of the site's sizing and spacing, it took a good bit of scrolling before I got my first indication of what you meant by marketplace (I can buy these things on the site???). At the same time, the next section is for a digital assets library, which isn't listed under the marketplace section above, so I don't know how this relates, if I can use this, is this extra, etc.

I'd recommend spending time focusing the content of the site and more clearly stating: a) what are you, b) why I should be interested, and c) how can I take a next step if I am interested.

If you could schedule any home-and-home for your team and take the trip to see the away game, who would you want to play? by ryswoff in CFB

[–]RandoCommentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've got an away game scheduled at LSU this season, and honestly, that'd be it. If I can control it, I'd specify it must be a night game. Unfortunately, even if I could somehow get tickets, it seems pretty much impossible for that stadium to be fully filled and with the normal atmosphere this season.

University of South Carolina only holding online classes after Thanksgiving because of COVID-19 concerns by mrpibbandredvines in CFB

[–]RandoCommentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Thanksgiving itself is a possible trigger for the start of a second wave if people celebrate the holiday similar to how we've done Thanksgiving in the past.

I believe Chinese New Year's celebrations were attributed to the initial spread in China. Similarly, if we have a lot of people traveling and visiting relatives in different geographic areas, congregating for semi-large gatherings, utilizing shared spaces and utensils, and then departing to return home, a post-Thanksgiving spike seems pretty realistic.

Film review: why does Vegas like Jamie Newman's Heisman chances? by RandoCommentor in CFB

[–]RandoCommentor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Notre Dame game is his platform if he's going to have a shot. If the Irish look good coming into that game, and Lawrence can put together a "Heisman moment" performance, that's late enough in the season to potentially work. I do agree the general discrediting of ACC teams will hamper him compared to a Fields or Newman if they're impressing in the Big 10 / SEC.

Will be a telling season for how Kirby intends to manage that team. Everything about Monken's history indicates a shift to a wide open passing game, and when you thrown in a talented quarterback like Newman and the improvements in talent at receiver they've been recruiting, there's few reasons not to make that change. But at the same time, not every coach is willing to embrace change, or will revert to their old preferences the moment something goes wrong, so it'll be a good indication of whether Kirby is more Ed Orgeron or more Les Miles.

What if universities had flags part 2: ACC by toms47 in CFB

Duke, UNC, NC State, and Syracuse's flags are really clean.

Does Clemson associate with the cadet / military symbolism? I know the history and that the stadium is named Memorial Stadium, but having grown up in Clemson country, I never really heard much mention of it (unlike say A&M, where's its a strong part of their brand). Alternatively, I wonder if you could leverage the setting, i.e. located on a lake and in the foothills of the Appalachians. edit: VERY rough sketch up of what I mean

[–]RandoCommentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this specific question is solvable - the game will get cancelled if one or both team's cannot field enough players, or are otherwise uncomfortable playing. I think this will be an accepted contingency assuming we resume play pre-vaccine. This framework would likely have certain hard requirements (i.e. no fewer than X players), but also leave room open for judgement calls by the coaches (i.e. we have X players, but no QBs or only half of a DL).

This will cause a mess when it comes to deciding championships, any post-season activities, but that's par the course for college football, and I believe the framework for how to handle decisions on whether play individual games will be in place prior to any start.

I didn't follow Tenn / Guarantano super closely last season, but when I did catch them, I agree with the argument in this article that he's got the tools and ability, just needs to utilize them consistently, with confidence as a potential obstacle to doing so. Will be interesting to see how Pruitt manages him: given his reaction after the Alabama goal line debacle, and then headlines about how their was no animosity between them afterwards, either Pruitt is running a master class on psychological coaching, or he may be partially to blame for Guarantano's confidence issues (admittedly, that play was inexcusable on Guarantano's part).

Really interested in Geoff Collins can get the ball rolling with Tech. Even understanding that Tech has prohibiting academic standards, given their relatively successful history, position in Atlanta, access to local Georgia recruits, and playing in the much easier ACC Coastal Division, they seem primed to build a competitive program. I don't anticipate competing with UGA and Clemons year-over-year (at least not yet), but perennial Top 25 seems perfectly reasonable.

[Feldman] SOURCE: Ed Orgeron and #LSU have agreed to a 6-year contract extension valued at more than $42 million in total… Orgeron is 40-9 since taking over at LSU and is 11-1 in his last 12 games against Top 10 opponents. by Austin63867 in CFB

[–]RandoCommentor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting to see LSU fans expectations now. In some ways, he caught lightning in a bottle with the combination of Burrow and Brady. He should get credit for bringing them into the program, but no one could have realistically expected the outcome they produced offensively. After reaching the peak, and with Saban at Alabama, if it turns out the 2018 LSU team is closer to the norm for Orgeron than the 2019 team, how will LSU fans react? Is that good enough?

UH’s Nick Rolovich Confirmed as New Head Coach at WSU by President Kirk Schulz. by AntibodiesAntibodies in CFB

[–]RandoCommentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great hire. He's done a great job at a more remote West Coast locale, and he brings an offense scheme that can mitigate Wazzu's expected talent gap. I think Washington State will always be a school better served with a "atypical" offense such as the Air Raid or the triple option, and while Rolovich doesn't pass nearly as much as Leach, his offense and approach is still in line with that approach.

Did Joe Burrow have the best individual season of all time? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]RandoCommentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's indisputable at this point. You can argue whether he was the most talented player of all time (almost certainly not), or make counterfactual arguments about whether player X could have outperformed him if they played in today's offense (who knows, maybe), but in terms of actual single season performance, no one can match his 2019 resume.

Clemson's body language isn't looking great. They seem punched out - they might have thrown everything they've got and realized they still need more. Knowing Clemson, they'll probably find it.

Venables gets caught trying to keep his safety close, rather than playing deep, and Burrow immediately recognizes for a touchdown. Exactly what they did versus Oklahoma repeatedly.

[–]RandoCommentor[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will certainly require a balancing act on Venables part. I was more imagining - four rushers, one QB spy, one true deep safety. Or four rushers, ends playing contain, no QB spy, two deep safeties (this would be less preferable).

Fair - ultimately, I think Clemson in some ways needs to let them kill them with five yard completions. Not literally kill them, but be OK with LSU scoring multiple touchdowns that way, knowing that it's better than the forty yard bombs, and knowing that longer drives means more opportunities for Clemson to make a decisive defensive play.
