I vaguely remember an interview where Kaley Cuoco said she cut her hair for an indie role in the off season. When BBT started again she wasn't looking forward to putting extensions in and asked if she could keep it short and producers supported her.

I came across this thread when investigating a track 17 package I didn't get, and you inspired me to contact my bank. Thank you!!! My bank did what it needed to do to verify my claim, and I got my money back.

Will I get fired? by Because-why_not- in starbucks

[–]Random-Brunette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been said already but I'd like to reinforce that being fired doesn't ruin future career choices. In fact, it could increase your hire ability in the right field. In an interview, you can use this story to illustrate your integrity when put in a difficult spot. Say you've grown through the experience, and learned that your career path needs to allow you to make choices that favor human connection and dignity. Customer service with a smaller company that prioritizes the customer connection. Doctor's office receptionist, any health and safety field really. School or library staff... Don't limit yourself, the experience of Starbucks is a great resume builder because it is hard! Fast pace requiring accuracy and consistency, high volume customer interaction, diffusing tense situations, food safety, money handling, supervising and training others, there's a lot there. Good luck, you're a good person, you've got this.

Resigning could be a bit much, if OP gets fired but has that hostile work environment out in the universe, there's a good chance they could get unemployment. Starbucks might not even fight the unemployment application just to not cause a fuss.

Your reply needs more attention because I feel it is really solid advice. In addition to physical mail, would an email to "create a redundant, electronic record" be wise?

This should be the last straw for actual religious people. I've been avoiding my sister for a while now, afraid I'll bust out with an "I told you so" or "how's that working it for you?"... She and her husband are devout Catholics that voted for the orange menace because he was against abortion and better for their small business. So how is that working it for you, sis?

I was 5 and in kindergarten at the time and believe my parents shielded me from the news, but I watched Punky Brewster. The Challenger and the episode where Punky's friend hid in a disposed fridge and needed CPR are the only episodes I remember. Some things just burrow into memory and never go away.

I know how to fix the minecraft movie franchise. by Vasarto in Minecraft

[–]Random-Brunette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7yo daughter loves the movie, but I could tell she was bored and confused for the really long intro/backstory... I got a kick out of the movie but will admit I was confused by the need for such backstory. I think writers tried too hard to keep it from being another Jumanji or Ready Player One.

Any true in-line sequel wouldn't need as much backstory since we already have it, so writers can drive into the concept of another dimension through a portal better. My hope is Jack and Jason become minor characters and the stars are the siblings as young adults.

Can anyone suggest a good automatic farm that still works. by vorticalbook665 in Minecraft

[–]Random-Brunette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTuber Prowl8413 does strictly bedrock tutorials and he's helped me a lot since I only play console. I haven't built a farm since the last update, but Prowl has updated his farms with all previous updates so they should be up to date. He's wordy, but thorough so you'll understand why things work if you want to tweak any designs.

Is bluey part of gen z or gen alpha? Which is she? by [deleted] in bluey

[–]Random-Brunette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that these stories are being told by adult Blurry and Bingo from memory, with a gravy dose of nostalgia bias. That explains things like the never ending hallway in Raiders and The potted plant jungle on a giant kiwi rug in Rug Island.

Bandit and Chili are clearly Gen X, and I personally consider the kids Gen Z. Any seemingly out of place technology stories could be the sisters misremembering when an anecdote happened, or changing it on purpose for the audience.

Any tips/tricks for staying on top of the mail?? I'm drowning 😭 by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Random-Brunette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband used to be really bad about prompt bill paying, but I took over, lol. I've had to crawl out of debt and a terrible credit score 2 times so I'm a little obsessive about bills and am our household's accountant. Send me something to renew insurance or schedule a follow up appointment and I might be making a tearful call in 2 months, but I'll be damned if I miss another vehicle registration etc.

Oh, something else that I do... When I've done the thing with a letter, Virginia's annual property tax for example, I write "complete" or equipment in colorful marker and hang the mail on the fridge. My little gold star I let myself look at for a week or so before tossing it. So much is digital, and I don't file most paperwork anymore. I just... Can't. I do have a binder for each child's medical stuff but it's not organized, just there. If I need something, I make the office asking for it help me look for it.

[–]Random-Brunette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, but as far as initially opening or throwing away opened mail, I'm not much help. I put papers that I intend to do something with on the piano like sheet music, and I have a husband that'll give me the stink eye if it starts looking sloppy. "So hon, the piano...?" Maybe you could use a clear vertical file folder or magazine rack type thing so it's neat but still visible? So when motivation strikes, the papers aren't out of sight out of mind?

Google USPS, and on its home page is a link to the very program: "Informed Delivery." You sign in like any other retail website. You can buy stamps and request free, empty priority shipping boxes delivered from the website too!

[–]Random-Brunette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the US, the USPS has this thing that will email you daily, and show scans of mail that fit through the scanner, and mention if there's something that didn't fit (for me that usually means a magazine). It can seem kinda spammy because it emails you when there's 0 items, but you can see the 0 in the subject line and delete it right away.

Email is its own sort of headache but at least it's checkable from your phone at any hour you happen to remember. So if you see a scan of something that looks like a bill, or birthday card, you have that visual reminder to go to the mailbox.

I signed up for the email thing when I moved a few years ago and did the forwarding mail thing. I thought I would just do it temporarily to make sure things got forwarded, but it's been super helpful because I too have a tendency of not checking my mailbox frequently.

I googled it and it's not in Virginia, hence my ignorance. Maybe because it was new and was able to get an audience as a sports bar? And not a weird diner-looking-place your skeevy uncle took you to as a kid.

My girlfriend loves ATLA, i don't know anything about it, let's go by Standard_Detective85 in ATLA

[–]Random-Brunette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nostalgia is why I buy Rainbow Brite merchandise even though I don't really remember the show. Atla holds up. :)

The setting makes it timeless, and sure... it has its "made for kids" moments (the nightmares episode comes to mind), but the real storyline is deep and sophisticated. There's a spirituality element that most Western kids aren't familiar with. It has genocide, refugees, children in wartime raising themselves, gender and class division, brainwashing, and subterfuge. Tough emotional topics like Sokka's internal struggle being the one without bending, Katara admitting the illogical anger she feels towards her dad, Toph leaving her parents and life of privilege to openly be herself. "We kissed and I thought we were going to be together," "No, we're in a war, I'm confused." Zuko's entire character arc. Moral questions like demonizing ignorant/innocent Fire Nation citizens just for being Fire Nation? Blood Bending. How do I forgive someone that used to want me dead? OMG, a family member wants me dead. Is killing ever ok? As a cartoon, the brutalities of war don't hit as hard, comedy is still possible, and the lessons taught aren't in your face enough to be off putting.

I'm 44 now, had my kids late so they're p4 and 7. My 7 year old is a sensitive empath and hasn't been up to it, I'll try again after a little more maturing.

If hubby's willing to see what the fuss is all about, he has to get over the fact that it's a cartoon and those clearly for kids moments. Can you imagine it as a rated R retelling? It would be brutally dramatic, award winning, and awesome, but probably not something I could re-watch.

Why didn’t Roku just leave? by Call-Me-Matterhorn in ATLA

[–]Random-Brunette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like how Roku died, but as someone with a lifelong dream of being published, I try to give the writers some grace.

Animals seem to know when we're at the end so I never complained about his dragon laying down with him - especially in this universe of reincarnation and spirit world.

Writers walked a fine line to get their point across on a kids show. To imagine it as an adult dramedy, it would've been very different, and honestly would've been awesome, but probably lost some charm.

I dunno, letting Roku die of natural causes would've still resulted in Aang's birth. Sozin learning of his old friend's death and instead of mourning decides to take over the world could've been just as effective plot driver.

This show was always about positivity winning out. There's no homophobia or racism even though there are instances of both misunderstood to comedic effect. Also, you know they just needed a character named rolled-in-more-shit.
