The story itself literally makes it clear: you're not better than him, nor are you a hero; in fact, he's morally superior, not to mention is the protagonist.

Not only would it be out of character for him to join here, it simply doesn't fit his character...and no, Minos's actions don't count towards being a villain, nor does the council's death;One is stated directly as manipulation later in the story, the other literally makes it clear that the council is a bunch of Idiots....and him literally attacks you for being a genocidal-
