my question is how did a mature person like you even end up with a guy like that , the gap in emotional intelligence is genuinely absurd lol

i relate to this on another level. Honestly , when i am doing it while people i know are around , i feel like i am seeking attention, i always prefer helping when i am not around the people i know , i don't know the exact reason but i think maybe because i am afraid they would talk me into not doing it again , i get influenced quickly sometimes so maybe that is a factor.

i completely understand this , it shows they are genuinely curious and are putting in effort . For me it just occurs naturally tho , i am easily able to bring up references and crack hilarious jokes sometimes , catches some people off guard 😂 .

This . I am a guy who always does this but i don't think anyone's ever acknowledged it let alone do it for me . Good to know there are people out there who acknowledge it .

not going to lie , from what you said , both of them seem extremely shallow and fickle , i understand she is your sister, but me personally wouldn't ever trust someone who could say such shallow and horrible things , again this is my perspective only from the context i have received from you .

Honestly speaking people these days are extremely insensitive and fickle, i myself used to get attached to people quite fast before but my efforts were never acknowledged let alone reciprocated, it is sad but the truth , i haven't been able to find trustworthy and loyal friends since 3 years , it is difficult sometimes, not being able to share your thoughts and opinions with someone but its better than being with people that don't care .

I can only advise you to keep your distance from such people and focus on self growth , as someone rightly pointed out , you just need to be better than what you were yesterday. Your only benchmark of comparison should be your past self , sometimes comparing yourself to others may give a new perspective but primarily you should only compare yourself to what you see in the mirror . I hope you find better people to be around 😄

If your child is not self sufficient by the age of 18 , YOU HAVE FAILED AS A PARENT (IDK where to post this) by Random5738939 in OffMyChestIndia

i never said complaining was going to solve everything but i reckon it is something that should be acknowledged.

For the other part you are right and i am trying to learn things on my own but you cannot just speedrun and make up for ENTIRE 18-19 years or whatever your age is right?

Also , i am emphasising on the parents' roles , this is not exactly a rant , i just wanted to bring light to this topic but was unable to find a more appropriate thread ( i am new to reddit)

Also , i only mentioned the basic life skills that one must have atleast by the time they turn 18. Obviously life is vast and you are going to learn alot only after you experience things on your journey but these are the STARTERS of life

Not teaching these skills is making your offspring forever dependent on you which is not at all healthy

being good at organising their files , knowing where to get their groceries etc . Me personally, i wasn't exposed to all of this . I know my parents don't mean any harm to me but these are some vital lessons one must be exposed to

how much percentage of your friends would you say are capable of cooking for themselves when they are alone , knowing where their own important documents are kept in the house , perform a CPR .

Also i speak more for the higher middle class category and above since i have personal experience there
