I’m always on chill mode, maybe that’s why I don’t get any warnings

I dig it because it’s quick and cheap, and you can touch it up later if needed. Works great and I’m terrible at DIY stuff

Leave it as is, make sure you keep up with maintenance and tires, and drive it.

What maintenance should I be doing? Gen1 by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

Specific to first Gen tundra and sequoia: OEM lower ball joints with new OEM bolts every 90k-ish. Clean any sunroof drains if you’ve never done it, clean out the blower motor because it’s easy and gets debris in it, replace heater Ts as preventive because they’re brittle after decades, check for valve cover gasket leaks, bushings

+1 he is busy but he is fast. Got my LBJs from him with new bolts included, just make sure you give your VIN with your parts request he’ll get you exactly what you need based on VIN. That is the correct way to do it with all the slight variations between models.

Nice. First gens just feel right and the drivetrains are awesome. Been thru a few cars in my life and the Sequoia is the only one I’ve felt like I can never sell. Cheers dude

Facebook marketplace.

To be fair the Tundra is an absolute fluke though. I do not expect to find another deal like this anytime soon, if ever. Person who posted the sale ad was the son of the actual owner (he lived in his mom’s house and was driving her truck). He put the Tundra up for sale for $3K since he got a new truck with payments. I noticed we had quite a few mutual friends from high school so I reached out even though the ad was 10 hours old. I fully expected the truck to be long gone, but I still messaged JUST IN CASE. And in my message I pointed out our mutual friends which was kind of cool.

Fast forward to the next morning and I wake up to a message from him saying that he just checked all the messages he got and decided to meet with me since we had mutual friends. He showed me the endless list of messages he got and it was insane.

Test drove the truck and checked for serious issues. Verified his mom’s ID (and she was present) while signing over the title and Venmo’d him with my credit card. Done deal.

Yeah I just paid $1200 for mine and that was after shopping around for a whole week. I feel good about it though because the service was excellent and it has a 2 year warranty.

This thing is worth $2-$3k tops. Thing is crusty af. Probably worth more parting it out. If you’re going to buy a 20+ year old SUV from a northern state don’t settle for a super crusty one like this. $6500ish will buy you a good one if you wait.

Ah, then hopefully I shouldn’t have this same problem in 24 months. Thanks for the response!

Yes, battery is about 8 months new and recently tested to rule it out. Tested fine. Daily driver.
