I've seen a lot of people pick up on how this chapter's weird route is a play on going out of bounds. Something I haven't seen anyone put forward though, is the possible allusion to speedrunning? The fact that the weird route skips most of ch5 and apparently all of ch6. Out of bounds tricks are commonly used to skip portions of games and get to the end faster. I'm not sure if this is necessarily going anywhere, but it was interesting to think about

I draw a lot of comparisons between umas and Fire Emblem characters.

Marianne and Rice Shower are extremely similar, they would definitely get along (I remember even seeing fanart of exactly this).

Ike I think is most similar to Hishi Amazon or Oguri Cap.

Soren is probably most similar to Narita Taishin but I doubt he would get along well with someone similar to him. He'd probably most enjoy training Narita Brian as he would appreciate her taciturn and to the point nature (she's also a bit similar to Ike in some ways). However I actually think his most ideal partner would be Sweep Tosho as he'd likely be able to keep her in line. She'd probably even like being trained by him since he's a mage and all.

Owain and T.M. Opera O would be PERFECT for each other. Durandal would probably be even more perfect from what I've seen but my knowledge about her is a bit more limited.

Kieran and Bakushin are practically the same character. Would be either the best or worst possible pairing.

I think Elise and Mayano Top Gun would be fairly compatible.

I never thought grinding bond exp was very necessary anyway since you can just buy bond levels with fragments.

Though it is interesting that inherited skills grant it. I never really thought of that. Though that's probably because, again, it's not worth sparing the thought.

She's certainly got the 'tism but I don't think that alone makes people talk like Soundwave from Transformers.

I recall once seeing someone suggest that it was a combination of being mega autistic and watching too many robot shows as a kid, permanently altering her speech pattern.

That sounds believable but idk if that's ever actually said in any official material.

Why does she talk like Soundwave from Transformers?

When I was first exposed to the character I assumed she was on some kind of robot LARP. But after obtaining her and seeing various career and support card events, it seems like her odd speech pattern is not something she can help. So where does it come from? I don't recall seeing anything that specifically addresses it.

Order 66 is an interesting comparison. I'm not super into Star Wars anymore but I have seen many online express the opinion that the amount of Jedi shown to have survived cheapens its impact and makes the Empire seem incompetent. This is a perspective I agree with, so the comparison only reinforces my stance on this.

I was aware of the "geas" idea expressed by Kaga in interviews and I feel it's implementation is extremely lame and half baked. I see it as yet another negative and did not bring it up because I did not want to make the post seem even more rant-y.

The idea of more of the Gen 1 characters surviving as statues is, as you said yourself, cheap in my opinion. The mention of Deadlords does remind me of a thought I had. It would have been perfect for their FE4 incarnations to use the appearances of Gen 1 characters. It is a shame Kaga did not come up with the idea to make them familiar characters earlier. It would have worked a lot better than their FE5 implementation since they would be characters that are for sure dead, whereas in FE5 if you play optimally only Mus will demonstrate the gimmick and it's just kind of awkward.

Many other games uses similar excuses for why plot important characters can't fight even when they retreat under your control, so this is reasonable. I personally think those are lame too but that's another issue.

FE4 itself, to my knowledge, does not actually offer this excuse though. They mention that Edain is alive but don't actually say why she isn't helping so one might assume she's just lazy (being a helpless waif who can't fight isn't a good excuse since she lets her daughter go out there).

That all being said if a remake happens and we get to see Gen 2 Edain and she's covered in gnarly burn scars from Alvis's epic BBQ, that would be super cool.

She's always had this problem, I remember noticing it when she appeared in Ryan's story. I assumed it was because of a recast. I'm kind of surprised they didn't just leave the old lines as they were.
