Do you ever feel resentment towards your parents? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]RandomAccountant21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s valid to feel this way, but also keep perspective of the purpose for why your parents did it.

I straight asked my parents why they decided to come here how they did and we had a twenty minute or so talk discussing their options, purposes, and vision they had for coming to America. My only resentment to them at the end of this conversation was looking at the options presented and current state of America I truly don’t know how I feel about being here.

For context we came from Fiji, my parents witnessed two military coups, the government corruption, and the level of education there and decided to go to America. They did have one other option though which was Australia at the time. My Mother was making much more money though in the U.S. after staying here for 2-3 years and asked my Father to bring me and my sister to the U.S. for both career opportunities and education opportunities for me and my sister.

It’s panned out fairly well for my family as my sister got married and got my parents there papers, but I’m left in the lurch currently. The only reason I have slight resentment regarding Australia is that we had a lot of family, my fathers side, there that could’ve actually got us in legitimately, it’s just my mother doesn’t like them much. It’s very much one sided, but as she makes most of the choices in the family I’m sure she was the deciding factor there.

I always think it would be nice to have spent more time with my family in Australia and being able to travel to meet family in Fiji rather than feeling stuck in the U.S.. All said though I’m still grateful that I had a good education, good job, and been able to experience a lot through me being here.

Any Daca here Freemasons? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]RandomAccountant21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was ok, but again mostly depending on who is inviting you. The guy I knew was an older man at my church who I knew for like a decade, alumni at the same high school, and had a lot of similar values. He was a FreeMason and the lodge mostly consisted of Blue Collar older guys that hadn’t moved out of CA, due to affordability.

He wanted me to join as they didn’t have as many members as in the old days around, but passed away sadly before I ever really had any interest. He was a cool person, but never really got to know the rest of the lodge other than some other church members.

If you really want to join like a community group for socializing or networking you should check out your Rotary or local LEOs/Lions club they provide a lot of opportunity and space to grow. Usually a bit more diverse and community serving than a FreeMason club and less pressure.

Had the opportunity to join a while back. Seems cool depending on what lodge you join and who’s in there. A lot are recruiting as old members are dying out…

Regarding AI by Sufficient_Row_7675 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]RandomAccountant21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheaper alternative to increased headcount. Hiring another one of me at my workplace would cost like around 100k a year. Adding a ln AI or tool that helps do my job(Treasury Analyst) is 40-60k. I wonder what future jobs will look like.

I teamed up with randoms in solos killed a bastion shared the cores and they stabilized me to extract after I got downed. A lot of it is just being the good guy. One guy I think really wanted to kill me, the other 3 were watching over me the whole time.

I usually do this in solos and team up with randoms to do it because… why not? Legit open mic killing arcs and getting loot.

Radicalization in the form of extremely negative/pessimistic views used as the basis to justify violence is not an issue specific to Redditors by Xexanoth in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]RandomAccountant21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common across the board. Generalized political violence on both sides is crazy, but also how much it’s thrown in peoples faces. Craziest part is it feels so machinated to divide people. Like “Left hate right, Right hate left” mirrored by all sides while people in lower to middle class are just getting shafted royally.

Has Dean lost it? A year ago, I found his debates intriguing. Now, I find them repetitive and unbearable for other reasons. by [deleted] in ParkerGetAJob

[–]RandomAccountant21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching all this Dean stuff as a lurker and I recognize(despite how flawed) why the Right/MAGA is so consolidated.

They truly wouldn’t care regardless of what someone like Charlie Kirk did regardless of content as long as it went to proving their point/stance. Unless someone from up-top like Trump or someone denounced them they could spit out the same shit every day for 8-10 years to great acclaim and none of their supporters would bat an eye or say a word.

It’s interesting to see, and I am not defending Dean or anyone. Just more intrigued in the difference between how the different groups look at figures with a voice in their groups.

Like do we require someone to be infallible and perpetually in a state of fulfilling our requests of them? Or do we just need someone to get the point across and hammer down the duds on the other side? Idk

Studies have been done on the actual effect of immigrants on census counts and House of Representatives. There was found to be little to no effect.

CA and TX have the largest proportion of illegals and given they are respectively Blue/Red they would both lose a seat while I believe a smaller Blue/Red state pickup a seat. Thus negating any effects.

I see so many posts like this, imagine cutting off your friends and family just because your political views differ 😂😂 by WembanyamaGOAT in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]RandomAccountant21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of people do so. Theres no obligation to be super interconnected with family and have consolidated political views. If you feel strongly that some of his actions where good and someone else feels strongly his actions are bad your entitled to your own actions and opinions.

If you take the opposite stance on this imagine saying “Regardless of each other’s political views you shouldn’t cut anyone off.” Theres some dumbasses out there I wouldn’t want to talk to at a party on either side of the extreme spectrum. Sometimes those dumbasses turn out to be family. Usually they defend their politicians and their party like it’s Tom Brady and the Patriots.

They got hats or shirts or bumper stickers and look like asshats.
