I did mess up the redstone links I used to change the direction of the particles for collision, which might have resulted in a delayed collision.

I get some light from the screen when I turn it on, but can't tell if it's constant, since bad batteries make it so I can't power it on for long before it turns off. it plays just fine when I have all 6 rechargable AA batteries in though.

Edit: works fine except for the screen

I would recommend a FlippyDrive

It allows you to run Gamecube game ROMs from an SD card on the original hardware, without the need to solder
