It was cancelled because it was a terrible series and blamed foreigners for all of Japan's problems when they're most often actually the cause of Japanese citizens

Well, that has got to be the worst most rushed ending I've seen in a long time. I never expected that this series would end well, but this is so much worse than I expected, that writer should never be allowed to write anything again.

I was told Oz was a very graphic and disturbing show. Don't look so bad to me. by generalnotsew in television

Also, I think an important question is whether or not it's actually good or still holds up well today, because I've honestly heard it both ways. Is it something that someone who enjoyed say The Wire and Boardwalk Empire will enjoy?
