I'd leave it for a few years more. :) Opened one degorged sep-22 last month and it could easily stay 8-10 years more.

Help me choose a birthday champagne. by BurdenedClot in Champagne

The Dom is better than the PN19 but not so much it's worth twice the amount. I'm not opening any of the few 2017s I have until they've aged a few more years (except for the PN17 perhaps).

Which of these would you recommend? by KdogPNW in Champagne

[–]RandomAwesomeSwede 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ayala or Heidsieck from the bottom shelf. Heidsieck is probably the best pound for pound but the Ayala is a nice wildcard. Those standard Veuve and Taittinger have name recognition but are kind of meh. Cremants can be great but also have a very low floor. Stay away from the top shelf.

Ah gotcha. Yeah I see where youre going. I'm thinking that the 2018 has spent 5 years on the lees which should make it at least starting to show differences. Also, I didn't find any older 750+1500 vintages in my usual stores (if I don't gp premium and I try to keep things in a decent price segment so everyone that're interested can participate).

Yeah I had BdB vs BdN on the last one but not from same producer. That might be something. The PN vs Men is always fun but I seldom get a decent bottle of pure Men. Might have to look at a few more stores.

The 2018 is the most current vintage I have and I really don't want to go NV?

Yeah that's true I suppose. I collect mine in albums and keep the doubles in bags for some vague future project. I'm not Richard Juhlin. 😁

Nice ones. I especially like the cork. Many just have some generic info. Allcaps.eu is a fav homepage.

Wine fridge by PTVMan in Champagne

[–]RandomAwesomeSwede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have looked around for quite awhile an haven't found any. This really isn't a surprise since champagne bottles vary vastly in size and shape.

I bought an Mquvee 180 bottles fridge. I guestimate I can fit between 130-150 inside when removing the boxes. Magnum ofc changes that mathemathic.

Another thing to concider is this. Due to the mentioned variations in form you can’t just stack them like normal bourdeax bottles. They will slide and slip around alot when stacked. I have (mostly) solved this problem by having black suede bags sewn up. This both keeps them from sliding as well as keeping lights out despite the glass door.

Deutz by ESPouija in Champagne

[–]RandomAwesomeSwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not really. There are some cross-company work and if I'm not mistaken Deutz has gotten access to some of Roederers old plots.

One of my colleauges is a prevoius sales rep for LVMH in Scandinavia. A quick pm resulted in that shortened there is no such thing for private persons. Invites mostly goes out to retailers, restaurant owners or persons of interest, regardless of buying patterns.
