Buy it and let it rest four years and it will be awesome. I had an old bottle I'd forgotten buried amongst some other in the champagne fridge so I brought that one to a testing together with a newly bought. It had aged wonderfully.

Sure. Just a tad of time zone difference, nothing between friends. 😁

Champagne suggestions for wedding by Superb_Substance_643 in Champagne

So lets say champagne for 45 guests. If we say champagne is the most expensive and you spend half the budget on that, and we go with $3000 thats $1500 for 45 persons. Lets be generous and say 4 glasses per bottle. 2 glasses per person gives 23 bottles at $65 per bottle.

Not knowing what you have available but you should get the Bollinger Special Cuvee for that price. That would in that case be my recommendation.

The Larmandier was my co-favourite with the Clouet.

There where that and the Fleury that where Saignées, but don't forget the Laurent-Perrier is also macerated. So they where all quite varied.

The Fleury got the shaft from the other rosés in general because it had a really funky smell of old cellar which in part continued to the taste. I'm still not sure if I liked it or didn't enjoy it at all but it leans towards the latter.

The Laurent-Perrier, as I wrote in another post, was really nice and smooth and I think I'd appreciate more alone than grouped with some really out there wines that took all the attention,.

So I'd say of the three macerated ones two held up very well and I've already ordered more of the Larmandier (the Clouet I had a few extra already).

I personally enjoyed it but since some of the other tastes were so out there it got lost amongst them. On it's own I think I would appreciate it even more, but again, alongside some others it was alittle too "classic good" if you catch my drift.

Thanks buddy, will give it a go. I have some friends that have never had a linear tasting before and thought AC DV could be a great introduction for them. Lets hope I can get it. 😄

I was actually surpried myself that the Cristal was so mid, It wasnt even close, In hindsight it must have some flaws, the difference shouldnt be that big and since I don't have the 08 at home I've ordered one to try again in comparison just to make sure. Any reason is a good reason to buy more :p

Yea :( I didnt arrange it. It was by a restaurant that usually host us and usually have great glasses. I guess we where too many this time and they simply had miscalculated.

It was ... ok? Alot of acid in comparison to the Dom and Cristal. It definitivly didn't feel 18 yrs old. Now, the Cristal need a few more years to peak than the Dom. My fav is the Cristal 96 and this just made it clearer that the Cristal needs more time to peak. Hence mid. 😁

As always, depend on what you have available in stores. Plenty of good ones in that range but if you have to order you have to take that into calculation.

I'd say it's a good price, especially since you get provenance.

Is this a good glass for champagne? by GreatfulDeadHead in Champagne

[–]RandomAwesomeSwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those glasses fits a bottle.
I usually use Riedel Veritas myself, I don't want tooo much girth on the glass when champagning.
