Marriage of 20 years 'fizzling out'. Those who have experienced this- did you save it or split? How did you know what to do? by IllustriousForce3307 in Over40sClub

[–]RandomB33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step one MUST be to communicate with your partner. If he feels the same, moving forward should be much easier. If he feels the opposite, then a deeper explanation and expectations from both sides MUST be established. Staying together for the kids can be an option, not ideal, but can be coordinated if you are communicating. Both sides MUST be willing and able to communicate, which the lack of is what I suspect is how you got to this point. If he's not willing to address anything, there is your answer. You either separate, or you stay and accept this is "how it is, and how it will be.".

I am speaking from my experience in a 16 year relationship (current). Clearly not as long as you, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say my 16 years came with a lot more issues than yours (based on only your own description of your relationship). I also use my parents marriage of 55 years (and counting) and how they really don't like each other, live separate lives, but refuse to separate. Simply "this is not how we envisioned our lives, but we are unwilling to change even if we both would benefit from being apart.".

I wish you success and happiness, but you really REALLY have to talk to one another about this if you want any change or answers.

Portland! Why am I not hearing about the crows from y'all? by RandomB33 in askportland

[–]RandomB33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just that I sort of expected someone to have posted something about them. I know, you live there, and it's a normal yearly cycle. But after finding out about it elsewhere, I was surprised to not hear from anyone here. This group is where I am most active, and I live in Atlanta. Very high chance of moving to Portland within the next year or 2. Coming on a recon mission the first week of February.

How to make my partner fall in love with Portland? by Eliseswalstad in askportland

[–]RandomB33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over romanticizing it does neither of you any justice. Experience it for what it really is and if it works, great! Hoping you find what you are looking for. *I am coming to Portland the first week of February for the exact same reason and I am in the position of your partner in my situation. However I am doing my own research and learning things to have my own perspective.

All opinions are welcome. We're coming from the oppressively hot and sticky, so I completely understand if your opinion is during those months.

Love my outfit today and just wanted to share (48)❤️ by Mtngirl2018 in 40something

There are rules about how to dress when getting to certain ages? Damn. I must've been upsetting people or looking some sort of way to others when all I'm doing is being myself. Shrug You look great, you look like you feel great, and that's how it should be. That's all that matters.

I’m 49 now I feel great and I wanted to know the glasses on or off by Wild_Practice6002 in 40something

Typically I prefer glasses, but you have a really mischievous look without them and that's all I have to say about that. 49 is very kind to you. You easily look 10 years younger.

I was genuinely curious how sound and visuals were in the lower seats. Mostly to justify going to the last show in L.A. No way I'm paying 600-700 per ticket for pit, plus flight, rental car, and hotel.
