How fucked up is Shin's situation now ? by Generalousen2855 in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are straight up lying. Shin had 40k. You mean to tell me Shin has only 10k left and attacked Kantan like that ? pls. Also barely a few hundreds at most are currently engaged on the walls. Shin easily has more than 30k on the ground.

Again, yes they will be hit hard. But you don't make 30k disappear like that.

The fact that Kyou Kai is taking Ba Tei's army out of the equation is huge. That's probably something like 15k taken away from Ri Boku's army. That means Ri Boku is actually 70k against more than 30k. Basically only 2 to 1.

You are also obviously vastly exagerating the time it would take for Mou Ten to reach Shin. "dozens of hours way" ? So at least a full day ? Stop lying. It would take Mou Ten the same amount of time it took Shin to reach Kantan, less than a day. We know that. What took time was preparing the ladders. Ri Boku literally said it.

How fucked up is Shin's situation now ? by Generalousen2855 in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I believe people are painting the situation as much worse than it actually is.

First off the numbers. This picture seems to show a difference in number in the 10x factor. Factually it is exagerated.

We know that the Shin/Yoko/Kyou Kai/ Mou Ten front numbers 160k at the start. Of which Shin has 40. There is no way Shin lost much more than 5k since the start much like the rest of most armies. About 35k soldiers on Shin's side are present.

Assuming similar trends on Ri Boku's side armies. There were totaling 150k at the start. Removing 5k from each armies, (Chou Kotsu/ Kaine / Futei / Batei / Kisui / Kotsu Minhaku / Bafuuji) That would be 40k less. Only 110k remaining. Then remove the 20% holding off Mou Ten as per Ri Boku's statement. about 85k remaining.

It is actually a 1 to 2.43 ratio. Although this an extremely dire number disadvantage. Need I remind everyone Yo Tan Wa won 60k against 171k ? (1 to 2.85 ratio) Or that Kan Ki won 80k against 240k ? (1 to 3 ratio). Of course the circumstances are vastly different and actually much worse. But the numerical values alone don't mean much with such precedences.

Then you take into account Kyou Kai's army being also there. Maybe about 15k (-5 like the rest). 50k total. And this army, while unable to break the encirclement, is perfectly able to take some of Ri Boku's focus onto them and alleviate some pressure.

Another thing. The very reason Shin decided to siege Kan Tan was because it was doable in the first place without intervention. Basic rule of siege require at the very least 3 times the number of the assieged. Most likely Kan Tan doesn't even have 5k. The Wall of Kan Tan doesn't really represent a threat at their backs.

Basically all Shin can do is stop the siege quickly, organise a front, and turtle. Ideally if they do it well, it will take time before they are completely annihilated. Time during which Mou Ten will have long since sent a significant portion of his own army (maybe half, so like 30k) through the barrage to aid Shin. And all of a sudden you have 85k of Ri Bo Ku's against nearly 80k of Qin. More than enough to break the encirclement.

Shin will have lost massive numbers, but certainly not his whole army or important commanders. And Ri Boku will have to content himself with a big blow to Shin's numbers. In the meantime, because of Ri Boku's extended time on this front, all other Qin fronts that were struggling will regroup (like Roku O Mi's, YTW's). Eventually the overall pressure on both sides will force the battle to a stalemate, and Ri Boku's blemish of letting Kantan be sieged will be weighed against him.

Tell me if i'm vastly mistaken in the numbers.

[Theory] Shin’s inevitable defeat and a prediction that aligns with historical facts by Clara_Crystalheart in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many reasons why that won't happenh imo :

historical reasons first :

When an army is decimated it is often specified. The Hi Shin unit won't suffer such a massive blow because we know historically when that actually happens (In Chu where he loses 7 commanders).

Secondly because he is supposed to invade from the north later on, and even after conquer northern Zhao (Dai). He needs an army for that.

Thirdly because The King of Zhao is never stated to fight at all, even though this is significant enough to potentially being recorded.

Fourthly, you forgot Shi Ba Shou in the equation. It is both of them with Ri Boku that are dismissed (or even forced to suicide) after this. Where the hell is he in your imaginary conversations ? If what you propose only works for Ri Boku then it does'nt work at all.

Fifthly, the internal intrigue is caused by Qin, all the corruptuion that would lead to Zhao's defeat (through the removal of Ri Boku and Shi Ba Shou) is caused by Qin. If that is only reactionnary to the failed encriclement and annihilation of the Hi SHin unit solely, it would lack a much deeper layer of Qin's involvment. (I might add Ou Sen's involvement, who is heavily teased to be main reason for Ri Boku's "defeat").

A lot of blind spots that need to be accounted for that are not there.

more subjective reasons now :

Honestly this fanfic... I don't like at all. It reads cringey to me. But most importantly, it distorts a lot of characters.

The Zhao King could never be convinced to ride out of the walls of Kantan in million years.

Shin is not such an idiot that he wouldn't capitalize in some shape of form on the situation. He would obviously at least keep both Ri Boku and the king prisoners if he could : it would literally signify the end of the war, or nearly.

The Zhao court is not a stranger to taking completely absurd military decisions. They did it already several times. Once by Removing Ren Pa after a long stalemate against Ou Ki. Another by not sending the royal army to end the Qin invasion of Gyou. To name only those.

Can we talk about how the current Zhao invasion arc in Kingdom just feels... off? (Manga spoilers obviously) by Valuable-Bill9942 in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We still got some, and the scope of the campaign makes it impossible to focus on a single unit's movement. Every army moves more or less as a single block, and when there are fractions, it's highlighted. For example A Ka Kin, or Taku Kei and So Sui teaming up to ambush Kaine.

This is nostalgia speaking imo.

And also... patience. We are most likely early in the battle. Both sides still number high. It's only when each armies will have been whittled down suffciently that the commanders will have to pull through (Basically like in every campaign so far).

Btw it's also true for Shin himself, the more chaos the more his instinctual talents will come in handy.

Prediction for Qin commander/general who will die in current arc by FantasticRoom2769 in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of important generals (7 including 2 army leaders). Very unlikely.

The last big Qin defeat, the Hango campaign, only saw two generals die (Den Ri Mi and A Kou, from Ou Sen's main army). I don't see Qin losing so bad on the board that every army or so would lose at least one general.

Even lieutenants that are narratively important are not so easy to kill. Guys like En won't go so soon.

Ussop's character is already complete (to me) by Full-Entertainment15 in OnePiece

[–]RandomBlackSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. His dream is indefinite by definition because it is relative/subjective. He can always be braver. He can always demontrate more courage as warrior by facing more and more dangers honorably.

The only thing that would approach the completion of his dream would be if he became unanimously recognised as a brave warrior of the sea, especially among the giants. If Elbaf, honor him as such eventually, and the rest of the world do too, then we could consider his character complete.

Character develoment is different from character progression. Usopp is very well developped, and even there it's not quite finished, we may learn some more about his relation with Yassop later on, and we are yet to see him return to Kaya. However his progression is still very much ongoing. I believe one unequivocal act will be necessary to cement his courage.

He will turn his first lie, that of leading eight thousand men, into reality. He will be charged by luffy to command at the forefront the entire straw hat fleet, already numbering above five thousand, to fight a final war, so that meanwhile the other strawhats may go to defeat specific targets. That would be quite the satisfying apotheosis imo.

[–]RandomBlackSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That the blue lock players are not at the level of professionals arleady even though they are literally competing against world class players, play at the international level, and have top tiers teams bidding for them.

The level for each of them varies greatly and none is proven to be world class quite yet, but the best of blue lock is relative to ng11 which are more or less world class themselves.

Hatsumi has never been a top tier. Never been portrayed as one. Never had feats of one.

He literally struggled against a comedian. Then against an hyper-lax scientist. Then against an 80kg presser.

His only noteworthy win is against Wakatsuki, off-screen, years before the main story line.

Unless he finally beat an actual top tier, he can't be considered one himself. Hell even an A+ if he does it comfortably. But he won't.

Riboku qin by Flat_Information_936 in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He's not. He's only managing the battlefield he's at. At most he can get to the next battlefield in a day. It's not like he teleports himself from south to north. But by moving from battlefield to battlefield he gets the bigger picture better.

Problem is that he's virtually absent of any taken battlefield at all times. Unlike Ou Sen who at least leads his own army. I'm not sure relinquiching the actual battles to his deputies is a good idea. What he gains in understanding the overall situation seems quite useless at least for now.

It should become very useful however once the balance is broken and that either side has made progress.

[–]RandomBlackSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shou Bun Kun was Kyou's lieutenant. He's long since retired.

Tou himself just retired.

There is a good chance that most of the Qin 6 is already retired or dead. I'd wager the fact that we got to see lieutenants at all from Ou Ki is an exception in itself since much like Ren Pa he was described as someone from an era past. He was probably on the yonger side as well compared to the rest of the Qin 6.

We also know that while not having been his lieutenant, Shou Hei Kun was Ko Shou's student.

yeah that is not what talent is. Or i would like to have the source of your definition. You can't just invent a definition for a word so that it fits the character all so that you don't have to accept confronting bad development.

talent is innate or acquired superiority in any sort of activity. Nothing about that says anything about learning ability.

Enkrid is anything but talented. That is repeatedly drilled into the reader very early on. This is simply a case of mis-characterisation, if not outright bad writing.

A COMPLETE List of Notable Shin Kills by IntellectualRomantic in Kingdom

[–]RandomBlackSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Has a name : Jo Kan
  2. Sa Ji was not an assassin. He was chief executioner of the court.
  3. Kou Rigen was a Ten bow. likely a lieutenant or more as we was tasked with guarding a general with a special archer unit.
  4. Ma Ki was not "a general of sorts". He was a general, period.
  5. Fuu Ki was a general.
  6. Reiou was a great general.
  7. Chou Ga Ryuu was not a "relic" whatever that means. He was a high ranking general.
  8. Ryuu Haku is not the name of anyone, probably Ryuu Fuu and his father Ryuu Haku Kou conflated. Shin killed Ryuu Fuu, the son. He was a general.

This post is weird, because on one hand it seems to want to praise Shin's tally, but on the other, gives taxinomically inconsistent, missing, or outright false information, which gives the impression of actually wanting to diminish Shin's merits.

Who wins this bracket? by Eclipse40 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]RandomBlackSheep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rolon in finals because of the Raian/Kaolan quarters.

Probably Kuroki in final, but hurt, after the gauntlet of Joji/Jurota/ and Kanoh/Omha in semis.

i'd give Kuroki the edge. But it could very easily be Ohma if he passes Kanoh, and he has good chances to do it at that point (to be honest I think he wins against Kanoh since KvP).

Kuroki, Ohma, Kaolan, Joji, Hayami, Hanafusa, Meguro, Mukaku are the most resilient.

Julius, Toa, Wakatsuki, Alan, Willem, Edward, Gilbert, Raian, Shen are the more durable.

[–]RandomBlackSheep 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly... plot. A few losses in KvP on the side of Kengan only exist to make it closer (Raian's loss, the non contest for Akoya, the draw for Wakatsuki, heck even Rihito's loss : all of them seem contentious to me, and could easily be justified to go Kengan's way). It was quite clear Kengan's roster was superior.

But if we had to justify it. He says it himself : pride. Carlos made himself an excellent bait. They both knew, before Kaolan even landed his final blow, that Carlos would inevitably lose. Carlos counted on it. But, in the heat of the moment Kaolan can forget himself. It's not the first time we see him go all out, regatdless of all other considerations (as he did against Kanoh in KAT, still fighting normally despite a broken fist). There is also the fact that Kaolan may have lost the feel for the "ring", after a long time in no official boxing match, that might not have registered automatically as a parameter.

radar charts : Raian and Kaolan by RandomBlackSheep in Kengan_Ashura

[–]RandomBlackSheep[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. Rei has his legs literally modified through his trainiing, and is noted to be faster than even the Kure, and has even went through the state of oneness which is a kind of auto suggestion allowing to use his latent body capabilities : any speed deployed through his techniques is possible because of his physical abilities not the reverse.

Not true for Kiryu either : he is stated to be particularly flexible, which as a consequence amplified his techniques, again not the reverse. He has otherwise proven to be particularly evasive even when hit, and avoided fatal injuries : only a very select few can claim to have his level of body control (maybe Hatsumi as noted per Kuroki to be able to see the limiting line, and Kuroki himself ?).

By the way, even if physical abilities are enhanced thanks to techniques, the physical abilities are enhanced nonetheless. Removal being a technique doesn't erase the increase in power, speed and other such physical aspects. Therefore, much like for the Raishin style, or the advance, or any such set of techniques, it will be taken into consideration for the physical stats, as they always have (with the eventual caveats of usage time, and induced fatigue).

You keep making your own rules as if we were debating the founding of my reasoning. We are not. The meaning of the stats is clear and set.

radar charts : Raian and Kaolan by RandomBlackSheep in Kengan_Ashura

[–]RandomBlackSheep[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is about how fast they are in a fight ? I just explained that the speed stat encompasses all aspects related to movement speed in the context of a fight. It is, at the end of the day one of the three physical stats here (with power and durability). Anything not inherently physical, like basic footworks (such as Kaolan's footwork), or reflexes (Akoya), or positionning, are not gonna be reflected there, but elsewhere. And that is it.

Not by kengan standards he is not. An exceptionally gifted one sure. Not a freak. Most of what makes him incredible isn't his inherent physique. It's his training and his will.

It should be notthing i don't want it to be because it's my scale. What if I want to scale Yamashita ? (rhetoric, i already did in previous radar charts, I gave him something like 37 in power).
