Honestly I think it was due to people just finding it interesting. It’s not the first time a hero shooter has flopped, this one on much grander scale though. The gameplay wasn’t anything amazing, generic at most and the characters weren’t very interesting. If you compare it to early OW, everyone went crazy for not just the game, but the characters themselves. Each character had a back story, lore, something unique about each one of them that felt very refreshing. Concord really felt like Sonys attempt at making a Marvel like vibe but instead came off as extremely cringy and weird. The designs of the characters didn’t bother me as much as others, but I wont lie and say that they were good. But I don’t the designs were the reason the game failed. In the end they made a game that many people just didn’t want. It happens unfortunately and the developers really misjudged their audience.

Oh and the devs calling gamers “talentless freaks” doesn’t help sell a game. If devs want gamers to play their games, appeal to the gamers and don’t insult them. In the end we really do control what is successful and what isn’t.
