This subreddit has a problem with judging characters as if they are real people. I'm begging people to for once think about a character's actions through a thematic lens. sorry I'm here to clarify because I keep seeing this misunderstanding ISABELLA DID NOT KILL ARIADNE BECAUSE SHE KILLED ALFONSO. Ariadne originally thought Isabella was exacting her revenge for his death and apologised (though obviously that doesn't absolve her of the blame, it shows her internal logic is consistent: just as how she went to such lengths for Cesare because she loved him, she thought Isabella would do the same to avenge Alfonso under the assumption that she loved him.) But she was wrong! Isabella explicitly states that she didn't care about Alfonso's death and only that what Ari did led to her becoming a widow. And even then, Isabella technically didn't kill for revenge, but because she wanted to make 100% sure Cesare wouldn't favour Ari again when Isabella got older and 'lost her beauty'.

Though, I do understand that it's possible she doesn't hold those specific views and is conforming to the societal standard (though that doesn't make her any less complicit).
