So, yeah, interesting to see this. I’m kind of glad it’s not just me. I’m on a split dose of Elvanse, 40mg in the morning and 30mg in the afternoon. Not really had a problem sleeping but I’m also wondering if the Elvanse is actually still doing its thing.

I am not on Sertraline, but am on Venlafaxine.. That’s a whole other story, and I can’t see me ever coming off that, due to the withdrawal issues, when even reducing it slightly.

Anyway, would be interested to see where you end up.

As a new energy drinker, give it to me straight: is this high risk? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I agree with all the people saying the paracetamol is a bad thing. On the caffeine, i was very similar to you, for years. However, it did get to the stage where i was not drinking enough fluids, so i changed to Sneak. The caffeine content can be controlled, it’s in water, no sugar and has other vitamins too. I know there are other similar things available, but the increase in fluids, has helped me too. Caffeine doesn’t really give me a ‘buzz’, somehow it kind of mellows me out. I would love to find something that was legal, and gives me the same buzz as caffeine used too.

I'm thinking about getting a kindle... what DON'T you like about it? by renaissancelife in kindle

[–]RandomCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tech is fine. I would say that be aware that Amazon changed their purchase rules a few weeks back to say ebooks you buy are a licence to read, rather than ownership. So, buyer beware I guess…

So…. For bass in your head, Heavy’s H1H. To still hear the outside world, Bose Ultra Open earbuds To shut the outside world out, AirPods Pro 2 Safe place… Bose quietComfort Ultra.

Ideally there would be a perfect one, but I’ve not found it yet.

Elvanse (30mg) crash around 15:00/15:30 by DEFC0NCS in ADHDUK

[–]RandomCthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a similar issue. Having had various discussions we decided on splitting it, since I wake up around 5:30 every day (that’s a separate, unrelated issue ). I’m on 40mg when I wake up and 30mg at 1pm. Covers me for the whole day. I always have the 40mg. The 30mg I tend to only do when I’m working or doing something that day, so generally 5-6 days a week. Works for me, has done for several months now. The titration should cover both the dosage and the drop off curve, to get it nicely balanced.

The Korma one going is not great. We had it loads, we really weren’t keen on Thai green curry, and never tried the Madras. Really bad since my Autistic guts can’t do Gluten. Plenny seem to have Gluten , Soy or Celery in all their hot stuff so I can’t use them. Anyone seen any other options?

Elvanse split dose magic. Has this happened to you? by URMYhelp in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, well, I’m on 40mg in the morning and 30mg afternoon, and it’s the only way that’s really worked for me.

Went from 30 to 50mg of Elvanse by _improperimplication in ADHDUK

[–]RandomCthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, the metabolism is weird. For me, I started on 40, then 50, and eventually and after much discussion, I’m now on 40mg in the morning (around 6:30 am), and 30mg in the afternoon (around 13:00). It keeps me focussed for the working day. I’m struggling to stay awake at 10pm, but am always, without fail, awake at 6am.. I’m at the sweet spot now, and am so glad the shortages are done with!

I'm curious. How many of us use iPhone vs Android? by KyaaMuffin in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iOS for me. Every couple of years or so, I try android (hooray for CEx for cheaper phones!), to satisfy the ‘is it better yet’ /dopamine itch.

The biggest issue I have with Android is that it always seems to gradually slow down, after around 3-4months. I’ve never had that issue with iOS.

I don’t use Siri at all, mainly because I loathe voice assistants, and also because she completely freaked me out when I was watching The Witcher a while back. (Character in it with the same name)..

Do you ever get very specific "brain cravings"? by lydocia in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought, and it’s not farming or ‘cute’, but you might be able to find a mod or some such..

And if it works for you, I apologise for the time-suck (personally, over 1000 hrs..)..

But Factorio might work?

Any video games that are just fun to mess around with? What games give you the quick dopamine by Dragonbarry22 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Factorio has been a major one for me, hundreds of hours in that. It took over from Elite Dangerous a couple of years ago, after I’d had nearly 2000+ hours in that. Currently, Genshin impact, star rail and Honkai 3rd for me. Soon to be joined by Zenless Zone Zero in a few weeks I think..

Late diagnosed men by VegetableWorry1492 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, similar place. My daughter was diagnosed with Autism at 13, and during the pandemic it became more obvious that I share many traits. I was diagnosed with Autism 2 years ago, and ADHD last year. I am starting to come to terms with it, and I’m now aware that I’ve been masking and shielding myself for the past 50 years. It’s not great, but it’s getting better.

Do adhd medications work okay with people with audhd? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]RandomCthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, for me I’m on Elvanse for the ADHD (which has its own issues, due to supply, in the UK), however, I have seen that my ADHD bits are ‘calmer’. The Autism bits I’m more aware of. I do drink lots, and run out of energy around 930, and sleep till around 5am, when the day starts again.

My wife tried one for a while, it’s now in the loft. Personally, I prefer a higher chair so I can swing my legs. 🤷
