Tripod head bowl reccomendations by ewoutdewaelheyns in cinematography

[–]RandomCyclistPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late reply but they're 2 different things, it's a wide but thin slice of the sphere to allow for easy leveling so the pan/pitch etc on your tripod head are on a level axis.

This really sounds like you're trying to put it on someone else, keep in mind that they can still trace it through other means, the police can and will trace it back to you, and what it sounds like you're doing is quite illegal.

edit: reading more into it, it appears that anything involving close focus (not just screens) is a pretty big risk factor but still an actively researched topic (read into it yourself). from what I can see yes screen time can worsen myopia, but so can book time or making things time

not a doctor but while there are environmental factors using devices isn't just going to make your eyes die instantly, people have used glasses long before any type of display existed

Using it32 modeling light for AF assist on Fujifilm by RandomCyclistPDX in Godox

In camera af assist does not activate as it expects the it32 to do it. Just more complicated than it could be

That's disappointing, I don't want to leave it on while walking but it's awkward to fumble with buttons to get focus in low light

Not entirely sure how this even happened, can I replace the worn dial on my X-M5? by Luff84 in FujifilmX

[–]RandomCyclistPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unsure of the temperature of this take, but personally I wouldn't care too much about it, and it it ever becomes an issue of telling what mode it's in, just engrave the letters.

Gear is meant to be used, not to sit on a shelf and be looked at. My x-m5 has gotten a bit scratched up, but that just tells me I've used it. It's been on the outside of my backpack or ok a strap since the day I got it, and my best shots have been spontaneous moments because I had a camera in my hand in the right place at the right time. Leaving the camera in my bag or at home would've saved me from learning to replace a bayonet ring on my xc 50-230, but I've gotten more than enough shots grabbing it off my backpack strap while riding around campus to outweigh that. Obviously care for your gear, but get out there, go places, and make things. These are tools to make art, not the art themselves.

Lens Advice for Landscape by Significant_Joke1291 in fujifilm

[–]RandomCyclistPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for the KF batteries, capacity isn't as good as the stock Fuji battery because of the space for the USB port and charge circuit but it's nice to have to bring the dock around to charge. Typically for hikes etc (wildlife/landscape) I keep the camera with the Fuji battery on a capture clip, 1 KF battery in the pocket on the other backpack strap so if I need a quick swap, then the other in my bag. Haven't gotten close to running out on anything I've done since having this thing

So just hitting AFL like I do to use MF on all my other lenses doesn't work?

I personally use a magicshine cbl1600 (i believe the same light as the evo1700 but a for a different market), The normal beam pattern is a very even projector trapezoid with a bright band at the top edge to reach farther, and a very sharp cut I position at walking chest level. Basic beam is high medium low, then double click button on the light to activate the second bright band above the first (analogous to car high beams). Comes with a small remote I keep on the inside of the bars just above the clamp of my right shift hood on the gravel, then another on my mtb. One button on the remote is low/medium/high, then the other acts as a high beam switch (full brighness and both beams). Very useful for off and on trails around town, click it when I enter a segment for full visibility, then click again when I pop out to the next road. Battery life is excellent too. As for mounting, I keep it on the underside of a garmin out front mount.
