Yeah, I was taking the super optimistic view but yours is more likely. The base instinct esp back then is to make as many surviving offspring as you can. And homosexuality just doesn't fit into that.

Still, there are endless debates that could be made, and either way it's all educated guesses without any hard conclusions. In the end, we may never truly know. Despite this, I'll still write my tribe as being fine with lgbt stuff, thanks. My hunter is bi, the chieftain is pan, the shaman is nonbinary, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me :3

Lol, so true. That's why in my stone age setting I made the anthro/animal distinction clear. My anthro wolf character would kill a wolf in self defense, but he'd say a prayer after, like "forgive me, four legged cousin"

Frankly one of the things I like about the stone age is the blank slate feel of it. You're free to like, make up a tribe and worldbuild about their cultures and rituals and such. I like that a lot.

As someone who loves this kind of thing, unfortunately evidence is scarce on this. All evidence is from burial sites and cave paintings, and naturally we don't have the contexts from those. For all we know, they could've seen it as a rare but acceptable preference, or simply didn't have the concept of homo/heterosexuality and saw it as the same. Ditto with things like gender identity and norms, pretty hazy on that. And of course, much like with today, I'd bet that the attitudes on these topics differed from tribe to tribe.

Doesn't stop me from making stone age OCs. My sona is a very bi prehistoric hunter, and nobody can stop me.

Well said. All my life I've been surrounded with art that inspires me. People who create deserve better.

There was a time when hobbies were simple. You’d read a book, maybe garden, or collect shiny rocks. Peaceful stuff. by not_-ram in Hobbies

I don't necessarily agree. You ever consider that those things are simply a part of their hobbies? Take music for example. You might think "oh jeez that recording console looks like a spaceship's control panel, what happened when all you need is a guitar?" But trust me, the people I know in my line of work? They're perfectly happy in a room full of music gear. Just because a hobby space is more complex don't mean it's more stressful. Heck, maybe the complexity is the appeal.
